Yaa, it's possible. But your certificate will be revoked. You can only have either MBBS or BDS and not the two.

From BDS to MBBS takes - 18 months
From MBBS to BDS takes - 3 years.


It's just this inferiority complex caused by we MBBS people that caused all these crossing of a thing palava.

Why should you even think of crossing, BDS is the same thing as medicine, only that BDS specialized very early.

We do the same thing with BDS till 500l. O and G and psychiatric is the only major difference.

If you want mbbs go for it, if you want Bds go for it, don't try to use BDS has a solace.

Dentistry is not a second choice to medicine, Dentistry is a specialized branch of medicine like neurosurgery.



MODIFIED- @ Eben331, I learnt uniben do change BDS degree to MBBS degree and vice versa.

Note- not all medical schools does it.

Chai, not everybody will be like me ooo, some people won't still get their courses after rejecting many courses.

I would always advice people to accept what they are offered and reapply again.

I have heard of people who rejected up to 8 different courses for medicine and surgery , at the end, they discover their purpose is not even science related.

Though, I was told several versions of this story many times . I was rigid on mbbs.

it is not that it is compulsory for mbbs students.

But as long as you want to graduate from UI regardless of your course of study , you must offer it and pass it. It started with us though.

Pls what courses are offered in 100l by MBBS students? What textbooks are recommended? Are there past questions to guide students in preparation for exams?

zoology( 5 courses) , chemistry(3 courses) physics( 4 courses) and Ges(French, use of English and Hiv/aids) . That's all you do in 100level, and it totals 46 units.

7 courses in first semester( phy 102,phy103, Chm156, zoo 114, zoo116, Ges 107 and Ges 108) you take the rest in second semester.

Definitely, there are loads of past questions available.

Your best bet is to accept this admission and take another jamb form and apply in another university.

Sometimes, law has more than enough students and they can't add another student to their list.

Switching is not that easy as you guys portray it to be but then,you can still switch to law in ur second year depending on ur 100l performance and other factors

The zeal at which aspirants aim for Change of course in 200l is laudable.

More than 500 of them always desire and hope to cross to seeming green pasture courses, sadly not up to 10 will eventually succeed in crossing when they get to 200l.

The rest will be left disappointed and angry at their performance, angry at UI and angry at their HOD.

Although, some of this guyz will fall in love with that botany or adult education down the line.

Honestly speaking, I don't know, I am a medical student, I only know all courses offered by mbbs and Bds students.

All the remaining departments have one or two courses added or remove from what medical students offer.

No, but u will only waste money, because jamb isn't obtaining their data base with schools for this admission process again (They last did it when COC is officially open) ..

Any changed you made on jamb portal won't reflect on UI data base.

yes, but is not acceptable because both are professional courses.

it means if medical students are offering biology chemistry physics for example, regardless of the courses you register as a zoology student, u must also offer this 3 coirses for you to qualify to transfer to that department.

Sadly, except Biochemistry, physiology and human nutrition, all other non-professional departments has one courses or the other medical students are offering but they are not offering which makes crossing impossible.

Most of the time, the HOD of the department is responsible for removing those courses to prevent students from crossing.

A friend of mine in microbiology could not register for phy 102 103 104 and 105(all offered by medical students) because their HOD rejected it, which means their plan to cross to mbbs has been terminated.

I hope have been able to clarify the confusion, or you need more explanation.

Am not sure of inter faculty crossing. Though Nltaliban said it's now acceptable. But, you need to register for all courses medical students offers which I don't know about.

Education, agriculture and very few science courses are advertised. But sometime, courses like physiology are advertised.

Cutoff on the dot means your score is accepted.

To your second question, education can even be higher than medicine. Cutoff is always determined by the performance of aspirants and not the course.

Forget I know somebody when you are dealing with UI.

Someone referred me to PROF olayinka ( VC) of University of Ibadan. He couldn't help me to leg it into medicine despite the fact I score high only that I didn't meet cut off with peanut marks.

I even thank God he didn't help me, I would always held my head high that I did it myself.

My advice- Take COC.

1) What courses were you offered when you were 2 or 3 marks away from the cutoff mark for medicine..?.

2) Is there any possibility of UI giving me Pharmacy if I don't do a COC...??.. OR... Is there any possibility of them advertising pharmacy in their COC form as the cutoff for pharmacy this year is very low (61%) ??

I didn't do COC when I was offered physiotherapy(though an inside finger was involved) but I did COC when I was offered vet medicine.

I have a cousin in pharmacy 400l who choose medicine but was offered pharmacy in 2nd batch.

I would advice you to do COC, the year I didn't do COC, I wasn't offered even babalawo education.

Crossing is very easy and very hard.
It is hard because

1.because law might have too many candidates and not interested in another weights.

2. Many students also want to cross to law, it's a matter of survival of the fittest with the best CGPA. Sometimes they do not take up to 5 transfer students.

3. If you didn't register for all courses law students are offering in 100l, even with 4.0/4.0 CGPA, u are going no where.


Outside this, crossing is very easy.

Sometimes there is no 2nd list if too many candidates fall a little below the cutoff .

For example, in 2015, over 150 aspirants scored between 70-73, due to that, there was no 2nd list.
