Everybody is just given speculation. Nobody is sure yet, not even prof Olayinka(VC) or the provost of college of medicine can tell what the cutoff is. Until senate sit, and agree together, nobody can physically say what exactly the cutoff is.

Take for instant , they might decide to admit just 10 for mbbs or 50 , or 250 or even 1000 or just the usual 140.

You see why nobody can determine cutoff. The number of students they decide to admit and there performance of the year under review determines cutoff.

Don't worry, cutoff will be official and open to the whole world to see.

The difference between official release on website and when cutoff is determined is just a maximum of 24 hours.

Till then, play around, listen to music, visit friends and take away this tension off your mind.

Sure, In fact, it's even easier, he will have minimal competition(CGPA ) because students who wish to cross within college of medicine most of the time aspire for medicine and surgery.

You can't cross from one professional courses to another, it's not allowed.

You can cross from a professional course to a nonprofessional course and vice versa.

All courses in college of medicine, except Biochemistry, physiology and human nutrition are professional courses.

Is it not the same exam people are struggling to get 70s.

The same way one oau medical student I respected so much on nairaland claim is bro scored 94% in 2014, only for UI to release statistics few days later that the highest score was 90%.

When he was challenged, his reply was Na so we see am.

I have a good news for medicine aspirants.

My roommates dad( A professor in UI) just told him a lot of medicine aspirants really perform badly. But art aspirants did very well.

I hope the cutoff won't be high as anticipated.

A total of 165/166 was admitted during my time 146 utme, the rest are DE.

DE really favors A level candidates.

how many students do they normally admit for mbbs.

In my class presently, we are 146 which means UI admitted 146 last year. It always varies though , but mostly a minimum of 135 aspirants is being admitted yearly.

The capacity of UI for mbbs is 180( including DE) but UI will never go beyond 165(including DE).


Cutoff will be out, at most 2 weeks from now.

I am not only a medical students in UI, I live on campus, even before you guyz know the cutoff, we will know, at least, cutoff for medicine.

A senate meeting always precede cutoff mark, and it is during this senate meeting with HOD and deans of faculty that cutoff is being determined.

Crossing is very easy, no hidden charges, lol. But provided

1. You have a very good CGPA

2. You are a student of physiology, Biochemistry or human nutrition.

anything can happen
most of the years in admission mbbs has been between 75 to 80
peeps were even suprised that last year cut off for mbbs was 71 (low)
in fact those with scores of 75 are not yet sure of admission into mbbs
am not trying to scare anyone
it's the fact I am saying
Cut off marks depend on the number of candidates that applied for a course and how people performed
in year 2015 mbbs cut off was 80 and dentistry was over 70
mbbs candidates with 75 should keep praying

Biochemistry, Human nutrition. Anything aside this 3, crossing to medicine is impossible as far as UI is concerned.

To start with, there is something UI called change of course, which is always released immediately after cutoff mark has been determined.

The bitter truth is, not everyone who pass putme will hit the cutoff. Doesn't make people who hit the cutoff better than you.

My advice- If you do not have a very high score relative to your aspired course of study previous cutoff, it will be better you have a plan B in your subconscious mind in other to avoid heartbreak.

For medicine aspirant, physiology is your best bet. You could cross back to medicine in 200l.

For guyz with 75+ aggregate, regardless of your course of study, you really don't need to wait for cutoff mark, start preparing for your school fees and acceptance fee.

I predict mbbs will be btw 72-73% aggregate. Just a prediction though.

Though Am not scaring anyone, but Medicine is not likely to be less than 72% aggregate.

But that is just a projection base on a foreknowledge, cutoff mark is the determining factor.

Check last year cutoff, add or subtract + 2 aggregate, you would have a glimpse of how the cutoff will look.

I would take Keith Moore anytime any day over any textbook for gross anatomy.

Though your taste and reading pattern should dictate your choice of textbook.

But Keith is reader friendly, wonderful illustrations, and it is interesting to read..

Guyton and Moore are good textbooks for physiology and embryology respectively.

I could see some people have one question or the other. Let me just summarize the answers those questions.

UI is unpredictable, they can bring 5 calculations in physics just like 2017 Saturday putme, or they can bring 21 calculations in physics, just like 2017 Friday putme. ( putme is conducted for two days, and two different set of questions will be set for each subject, you might be lucky to get pure theory without calculations )

Yours is to prepare for anything.

To those aspiring for mbbs and scored low in jamb, I have said it before, you have a great chance. I have seen someone with 268 in jamb in my department. Yours is just to spank your putme.

Mind you, your jamb score doesn't predict how you perform in putme. The guy who scored the highest in 2014 putme (90%) scored 248 in utme.

Lastly, for the person who want to enquire about UI putme after sitting for UNN putme, I really don't think it's possible.

Does UI set biology questions in putme from O level or A level?.

UI biology is 100% olevel, you won't find one single A'level, in fact, you will meet jamb past questions. Most students score 20, 22, 25 out of 25 in UI putme biology


What should I read to score high in Biology?

Essential and past questions(UI and UTME) is enough. If you have modern biology , it's ok


What should I read for Chemistry and Physics?

Ababio, new school physics or Nelkon physics. Add all past questions to it. If you have lamlad, please read it, we have seen Putme questions lifted word for word in lamlad physics and chemistry.

Do you have any tips that will help me to perform excellently well in UI post utme.

Read the way you read for jamb, but just practice without calculator, to help your speed and accuracy.

And for people who want to know my UTME and putme score. I had 322 and 80% in UTME and putme respectively. I can categorically tell you, UI putme is very easy.
