Guardiola explains why Iheanacho is being left out of Manchester City squad By Ifreke Inyang on January 28, 2017 @dailypostngricles.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, has insisted that Kelechi Iheanacho has a future at the club and that his limited playing time is because he has too many attackers. The Super Eagles forward has scored four goals this season, but has hardly had a chance under Guardiola. Iheanacho was left out of the squad for the Premier League game at home against Tottenham, as fears over his City future increase with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus. The 20-year-old has also been left out of the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace. But Guardiola says he remains an important part of his team. “We have seven strikers, three in the middle, four or five wide. Normally we play two or three,” Guardiola told the Manchester Evening News. “I don’t know how many others play. We play five or six offensive players and thanks to that we create a lot of chances. “That is the case if you analyse the games against Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea and United at the beginning of the season, and especially in the first half of the season. “In the second half, we created much, much more than our opponents but we didn’t create the kind of chances for this kind of player. “But of course, Kelechi is part of the squad. “Jesus and Nolito are young strikers, Gabriel, Raheem and Kelechi, they are so, so young strikers and they will be the future. They have to adapt. “Raheem is only playing in the Champions League for the second time in his life and fighting to win the title so of course we give them time. “Of course we evaluate how they do in the games and the training sessions. “At the end I try to be fair based on what I have seen in performances. “Of course I have to evaluate it based on what I see on the grass. “It is a case for all the players here – for the strikers, the wingers, the centre-backs, the full backs and the goalkeepers, all of them. “When they don’t play, they have to win my confidence in them.”

If Guardiola maintained his discipline of Keeping Gabriel on the wings, it would have been different. As soon as he slotted him in nine, the picture changed. Nacho is now third or maybe fourth choice because Guardiola is talking of Nolito now as one of the strikers. Seems to me he wants to create room for Nolito there.
Iheanacho can learn the Barca recipe this season but I think a move, not loan will give him room to show his quality. well d next few weeks will tell if he is still in d pan or not |

Manchester City have stolen a march in the pursuit of Colombian wonderkid Marlos Moreno.
A host of Europe’s elite sides - including Manchester United and Benfica - are chasing 19-year-old Moreno, who scored his first international goal at this month’s Copa America.
City held positive discussions with his club, Atletico Nacional, and are understood to have agreed a fee of around £8million for the winger.

He plays a similar style to Gabriel Jesus. not all dz signing will excel under pep. I can guarantee u dat he will be loan out immediately after his medical just lyk wat happen wif kerrison @ barca |

lakesidepapa: I'm still expecting the proposed 3 forwards line of Sane Nacho Gabby.
If Guardiola loses him, he will come and hunt him/man city. hopefully it will work, but don't exclude sterling, he is pep favorite @ city nd most of all an english player. nacho, sane and gabby will battle 4 d two spot remaining |

I always believe in giving coaches what they want. If Guardiola wants Gabriel Jesus because of some of his attributes, let him have it.
I was always after Nacho understanding the philosophy of Pep and improving on playing it. He has improved massively and I see Nacho improving more working hard in training.
As long as Pep's love child is at City, Nacho will get limited chances. So, leaving seems the only option.
Nacho should keep working his socks off until he gets a fair run of games to show what he is made off. if nacho works harder in training, I am sure, he will be given a chance. I wouldn't b surprise if nacho is latter given d role of muller in d next few month wenever his defense is strong enough 2 av a 3 back line. hopefully wit kompany back in d team 2 add more stability. I don't think guardiola will want 2 lose a willing and hard working nacho |

TheGoodJoe:
I am yet to watch Gabriel Jesus fully, but the few I have seen, that guy does not look more outstanding than Nacho.
I am not hating on the young man and I hope he excels for City. However, I am not yet blown away. Guardiola kept Sterling in the side despite some atrocious show. I never and will not see Sterling as a better talent than Sane.
Gabriel Jesus might turn out brilliant but it is an insult to the greats like Adriano, Robinho if he carries the tag of the best since Ronaldo. That is not true. He might become better than them but at this age, come on. He is not. It is not hating, it is a fact.
Concerning fitting the philosophy, Gabriel Jesus tracking back gave me an idea of what Guardiola wants. I am yet to watch his pressing. That will get clear with a few games. Not as strong as you made him because Gabriel had to drop deep because of he battle with the strikers.
Iheanacho looks a better finisher. Not sure of the pace off the ball because like the game against I think Hull and Bournemouth, we saw unbelievable speed.
With time we can judge but for now, I do not see why Gabriel Jesus gets so much hype.
We have seen better Brazilians at nineteen since Ronaldo.
Nacho has still done well in the few games he had. What about against Manchester United where he had a goal and assist? What about his brilliant performance against Bournemouth? What about his game against Celtic? Yh both are gud. Nacho is more clinical, but he needs. 2 work on his first touch nd passes. Pep prefer sumone who can contribute more dan just scoring. I.e track back, pressing, adventurous runs nd more. Forward who wer. Successful. Under pep has dz qualities. (Pedro, coman, douglas, alexis.et al) |

u guys should stop d hate on Gabriel, d guy is Gus nd fit in more Dan nacho. d only aspect in which nacho is better is d finishing. pep expect more Dan scoring alone. Gabriel holds d ball better Dan nacho outside d box. he got pace nd he more chances Dan nacho in a single game. city is nt where youngsters are given much tym 2 impress, nacho has gotten his chances against Burnley,Leicester in which he played almost an hour. let also give dz Gabriel a chance 2 prove d £27 spent on him was a hit b4 u guys right him off |

Mickael2: Baba, where did you get that from?! Let me make it simple for you, Yaya Toure went from starting the 2008 champions league final to warming the bench for Busquets, so I ask is it that he stopped responding to Pep's drills after that 08 final or what exactly? Toure was one of the top dogs, a versatile player. I know he started a lot of games as a CB so that Barca could effectively switch to a 3-4-3 with Abidal falling into the 3rd CB slot, so I don't know where you got the impression that Toure wasn't important lol get ur fact right!! busquet started d final also as a midfielder, toure was use bcuz of d non-availability of player through suspension nd toure never played in a tree man back line under pep! it abidal-pique-alves or puyol playing in place of pique or alves Toure lost his place 2 keita first, nd d later losing it to busquet, just bcuz segie is a good passer of d ball Dan both,he hardly lose possession. it just d same btween thiago nd cesc, pep prefer using thiago in midfield to cesc due to his passing game. it d coach philosophy, he sort 4 d best, who could fit into his game plan. |
