yes he maybe an illiterate but those of us who voted for him see a man who is very intelligent. a leader who questions everything and isnt MOVED by his aides and advisers.
this man is not a pushover and thats what this country needs......a patriotic defiant leader!

DPR does not exist in PH........every marketer behaves as they like. NNPC franchises buy the product at normal price, siphon it and move to their other outlets to sell at 170/180 bucks per liter.

make i repeat am.......MAKE JESUS CHRIST AND HIS ANGELS PRESIDENT AND MINISTERS/PARLIAMENTARIANS RESPECTIVELY,THIS COUNTRY WILL NOT CHANGE.

YEARS AGO,it was purely a leadership issue, now, corruption has found its way down into the very masses themselves.
unfortunately,we can NEVER move forward BECAUSE WE ARE NOT A NATION.

Only a UNITED nation(irrespective of tribe and religion)can elect good leaders.

if this present democratic system continues unhindered for another 100 years, nigeria would not have made any progress. angry angry

AZeD1:
1) The scarcity of the dollar is not caused by the rate so devaluing doesn't solve the scarcity, rather it would push the black market rate up further.
2) We really don't export anything so the idea of our goods being cheaper is economic theory.
3) You need to understand that foreigners that are calling for devaluation are doing it in there own interest not because they like us?
God bless you!!!

This rubbish can't happen in the south east. We've said it repeatedly ......you would be mad to think that the south west is BETTER than the east in distribution of wealth.

When people hail fayose for being "this kind of governor ",I weep.
It's sad that even our own people have no idea of WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR LEADERS. Our standards are so shamelessly low. Pity!

@ phantom sir, u av done well creatin d thread, more power to ur elbow. Now, d dilemma of a final year med student: to stay or travel out, still very indecisive atm. My choice of specialty (not made up my mind abt this yet too) I believe will affect my decision anyway. I get fascinated by many specialties wen Im rotatin thru them makin it difficult to select a precise one for now, though I have completely ruled out some. I pray God shld jst guide my decisions.
Try and make a decision and fast. Weigh all options.
study hard and nail the professional exams(very well o!). competition is high especially in the US where doctors from other countries(particularly those indians wey i no know whether dem carry magnet for head) are also trying to get into the system.
I have a friend who smashed the USMLE(chick is very brilliant!Queens college to university of ibadan) and had 3 offers from different centers. She had to choose one.

Bottomline is study hard! Also know that certain specialties are difficult to get in the US......as a Nigerian, prepare to settle for internal medicine, family med or paediatrics.
I dont know what the UK situation is these days.

Make up your mind fast! consultants in Nigeria, employed primarily by the ministry of health(FMCs) start from 600k.Professors,800-1mill Doctors in the University system(employed primarily by the ministry of education),that lecture AND provide clinical services in the teaching hospitals earn a little less than their counterparts who work only in the hospital.

In the US you are looking at 150-500 grand PER ANNUM,depending on specialty. Great pay but you must also remember your taxes and malpractice issues.
so both options have their pros and cons. Make up your mind! cheers.

HopeAtHand:
They are have no single shame. After laying asphalt on Eagle island bridge, Wike erected billboards to praise himself for constructing a road with bridge in less than 6 months. He brought canopies to celebrate Nkpogu road almost completed by Amaechi, He also did same in Abuloma - Woji link road and bridge. Ah ah, what for.

They have no single regard for our sensibilities. If they think we are little kids or morons who they can sell barefaced deceit on broad daylight, then Wike, Obuah and their media team must be completely stvpid.

They should show the world that disgrace of a road they reconstructed in Rumuagholu against what Amaechi had in the initial road design that was resisted by Rumuagholu people because of politics.
@1st bolded.........he really must think rivers people are very shallow. how else do you explain these nonsense coming out of obuah and other PDP touts on a regular basis. yes,he should be commended(on 2nd thought, this is actually very silly considering government is a continuum)for continuing amaechis projects BUT to come out and ascribe those projects to himself is going to far and smacks of disrespect not only for the former admin but also for Rivers people.
broad day light robbery of amaechis projects.

@2nd bolded..... grin grin grin grin grin...some of these "rivers people" on nairaland dont even know what goes on their state.

everybody is applauding him for rumuagholu ,forgetting amaechi wanted to do this same road in 2008/2009 and some of the community low lives went to beg him to stop the project because of their shops that would be demolished(how myopic!).
Amaechi wanted to expand that road. what wike did there cannot compare to what amaechi would have done on that road. of course he abandoned it (which is totally unlike him), to cite projects in communities that knew the value of good roads.
unfortunately the road became so bad that businesses started leaving rumuagholu and people started looking for residential accomodation elsewhere.

That is when it dawned on them that ROAD na DEVELOPMENT!

Truckpusher, please sometimes, try to advise your brother Obuah so he doesn't make a public disgrace of himself. We all know most of those roads he mentioned were about 96% completed by Amaechi before Wike became governor. Wike cannot take a glory that doesn't belong to him.

There are some things people say in public and they sound stvpid. If Obuah is telling Amaechi to inspect Wikes patched roads, he will sound abit reasonable, but anything else points him out as an Idiot..

If Wike needs my commendation, he should complete Amaechis monorail.
you dey mind the i.diots?

You don't know what u are saying, the last administration. Left a lot of uncompleted projects, most were like 30% completed. That's how u ppl claimed Amaechi has completed trans Amadi road. I respect Wike for one thing he is a grassroot man he said he will complete all the uncompleted projects of the last administration. Ask yourself does it make any sense to start new projects when uncompleted ones litter everywherehuh For your information Wike started and completed Woji road project. I live there. Akpajo road is ongoing and many new ones side by side the ones ur lord left uncompleted. Try as hard as u can rivers ppl love Wike. And for ur info am a Deltan who resides here
Oga,be honest. Wike no FIT match amaechi.
I have no problem with him completing projects BUT he must stop playing politics with it.
Amaechi left many of those projects at 95%. We are not children! Search for my thread titled "Amaechis PortHarcourt" and see for yourself.
Dem say na from smell of mess you go take know how shyte go be. 1 year gone and wike and the PDP are building roads WITH THEIR MOUTHS and think sensible rivers people no go see.
Natty hero, you're trying so hard to justify the mistake you made in April,2015. You can not "unmake" this mistake with propaganda.
People are gradually seeing there is no substance in WIKE.
The hate for amaechi is far stronger than the love for wike.

1 year gone,60 billion borrowed, yet nothing on ground.

Career › Re: Medical Doctors' Forum: Let Us Know You! by phantom(op):
wow ......this thread still dey alivehuh shocked grin grin grin cant remember when last i was here.
a lot of water has passed under these past 7years since i started this thread. the salary has improved since then but unfortunately, inflation and the general bad economy have wiped off any gains.

SRs now go home with 500+ but TODAY,that is equivalent to the 350+ in 2009. (refer to my earlier posts)

i didnt get to travel out. i got married and decided to do residency in the country partly because moving with my family was a task i was not willing to undertake( a decision i partly regret not taking).

i am currently in a radiology residency in southern nigeria and hopefully going for part 2 next year.i still think about travelling out BUT my pathway in 2016 would be different from my chosen pathway 7 years ago.
i will most likely be going for the FRCR(royal college of radiologists)postgraduate exams. this is the least path of resisitance for me AT MY CURRENT LEVEL.
the FRCR is in 3 steps and can be completed quite rapidly for a doctor who knows what hes doing.passing steps1 and 2 make you an SR(radiology) in the UK.

so my advice for residents IN NIGERIA who still want to leave, survey the option of writing foreign postgraduate professional exams in your current area of specialization. that may be easier. i hear pathology faculty(national postgrad college)has some arrangements with royal college of pathologists were an SR in pathology in nigeria is exempted from writing step 1 of the royal college of paths exam. Im not sure though.

For the medical students/fresh graduates, my advice is to decide what you want to do ON TIME. never be caught in one place. Always be on the move. you must have a strategy.
make up your mind fast. do you want to leave the country or do you want to stay back. while youre looking to write these foreign exams you must have a job that feeds you and can help you prepare for these exams. ALWAYS REMEMBER..... every decision has its pros and cons....moving to the UK or US does not mean all your problems in life are over. carefully weigh every decision(with prayer o!!).
I know our country is F.ucked(pardon the expression....couldnt find something MORE APT) BUT IT IS NOT ALL GLOOM AND DOOM..
i make up to 60% of my salary moonlighting in my current city of residence. i have friends who are SRs in anaesthesiology and are fully booked every weekend in town for surgeries netting about 35grand per surgery.these boys do not do less than 10surgeries in a month. Im not sure a doctor would have this kind of freedom in the US or UK(correct me if im wrong though). My guys(SRs) in O&G net about 50-100grand per month on performing C/Ss for GPs in town. my point?? our country is a useless place but that uselessness has created opportunities for youths to move in and provide solutions to problems.

i dont know what the carribean pathway is like these days. when i left school a decade ago, UNN.ABU.UI.IFE AND BENIN graduates were sought after in T&T. graduates of thses schools didnt have to write licensing exams in addition to to the tax free salaries they were to earn.(of course while attempting to nail either PLAB or USMLE).

so just survey all your options very well. cheers! wink wink

Who has watched breaking bad here? I've downloaded from season 1 to 5 but I'm seriously contemplating on deleting the entire shit, so far I've watched season 1 and now on the 4th episode of season 2 and apart from a few action and witty scenes, it's been super boring all the way, I feel like I'm wasting my time on the movie, it's just that it's too highly rated, guys who have finished watching it, will the movie yet burst to life or should I delete the whole thing and move on to another series
