EducationSuspend ASUU Strike Now For Iyayi Sake by phapi(op): 6:40pm On Nov 22, 2013
'SUSPEND ASUU STRIKE FOR IYAYI'S SAKE' - PRO- CHANCELLOR OF UNIBEN BEGS UNION '

Suspend ASUU Strike For Iyayi's Sake' - Pro- Chancellor Of UNIBEN Begs Union As the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ NEC meeting gets underway, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the University of Benin, Senator Bob Effiong, has appealed to the striking lecturers to go back to classrooms as a last respect to the late Professor Festus Iyayi who lost his life while struggling for the course of the Union. Iyayi, a former Head of Business
Administration Department of the
University of Benin and former National
President of ASUU was killed in an auto
crash while on his way to attend ASUU
National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Kano. Effiong had expressed that the death of Iyayi was painful as he was unable to see
to the end of what he was struggling to
resolve; a strike he said had lasted for
more than four months. The Chairman had equally, in a
condolence visit to Iyayi’s family
yesterday called on the Union to institute
an academic foundation in honour of
Iyayi for his immeasurable contribution to
the nation’s education sector. “…it is expedient at this point for both the
federal government and ASUU to come to
an understanding in honour of this great
patriot,” Effiong said. The condolence message reads thus:
“When we take into cognizance his
immense contributions to ASUU in its quest
to reposition Nigerian universities in the
world and his role as a teacher and
scholar, we know that the academia has lost a rare gem that would be difficult to
replace. “However, we want to console you to bear the loss with fortitude, resting in the
knowledge that Professor Iyayi gave his
life in the struggle to ensure a better and
brighter future for the Nigerian child in
terms of sound education.”

CelebritiesAn Open Letter To Aunty Savage by phapi(op): 7:11pm On Nov 19, 2013
An Open Letter to Tiwa Savage Read what a FAN( Temitayo G.) wrote to Tiwa Savage below:-
"..So I read in some interviews that her fiancé said that they have a limited invitation cards for their wedding which means he doesn’t want crowd, fans or party crashers at his wedding, and I was like “whatever” that he has pride and what was he feeling like with the believe that Tiwa doesn’t know anything about this and she wouldn’t say such to her fans.
But to my own surprise, few days later I read in another interview where Tiwa also said the same thing “If you’re not invited don’t come to our wedding”, I was really disappointed that she could say such despite the fact that we are the ones buying her records and also it is our money they want to use for this their wedding ooo. These artistes don’t know that without with us (fans) they can’t succeed in this business. I made up my mind never to buy her records again, for her and her fiancé to say such to their fans who buy their records. So I began to wonder why would they say such, is it that they don’t want to spend, they are being stingy or maybe they want a low key wedding which I don’t think so. So today I was going through some blogs and I saw a gist that the controversial Kemi Omololu Ololoyun said Tiwa Savage is getting married to a married man with a kid, huh! I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it I had go straight to google and search if the story is true, trust google, google showed me everything patapata and it was confirmed that this her fiancé Tee billz is indeed married with a kid but separated and not yet divorced. What da f??k! So I realise this is the reason she doesn’t want crowd at her wedding because she’s scared. But seriously Why would she do such? I’m highly disappointed in her, it shows she is very desperate to get married with the fact that it is illegal to get married to a married man who isn’t divorced. Shame on you Tiwa Savage, is it someone like you that is suppose to say you don’t want crowd and uninvited guests at your wedding? You want to marry somebody else’s husband yet you flew abroad to buy wedding gown and you con dey flaunt am to the world, shame no catch you? Anyways, I am happy for you but please be wise, let the divorce come first before you enter his house biko, we all know you are not getting any younger but please little patience would do. Getting married to a legally married man is totally wrong, it only shows how desperate you are.
And once again, is it true you caused the rift between Don Jazzy and Wande Coal? Xoxo" From: Temitayo G.

PoliticsNo Doubt Sia Is Confussed by phapi(op): 2:16pm On Oct 29, 2013
NO DOUBT GOVERNOR IBIKUNLE AMOSUN IS CONFUSED:

If informations coming from Ogun state government circle is anything to go by, the Governor is about forming Local Council Development Authority (LCDA)
a replica of Lagos state. The good people of Ogun state would recall the circumstances around the creation of LCDAs in Lagos and the eventualities. Certainly, Governor Amosun has shown he is not original and doesn't have anything to offer Ogun people other than to copy from a neighboring state.
Whereas, what is applicable and practicable in Lagos state is not in Ogun without sentiment. With all modesty, what is the essence of the creation even in Lagos administration that it was introduced when the Federal laws still recognizes only original 20 Local Government as spelt out in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In Ogun state today, it is very clear that the current administration under Governor Ibikunle Amosun is
confused. Aside from bogus and needless road expansions in the state which doesn't have human face, whatelse can we point to as achievements in the current administration? The Health sector is lying in comatose, Educational sector is going into extinction with school building gradually falling on students,
Agricultural sector of the state is practically dead,
Environmental sector is an eyesore- anybody who is not convinced about this should go round the major towns of Ogun today and see how they are littered; unemployment is the order of the day and so on. Yet
Mr Governor is thinking about creation of LCDA when the 20 already on ground are not viable and functional. Since the last Local Government selection called election, what has been the achievement of the Local
government areas in Ogun state?. They are dormant, redundant and docile. Many of the council Chiefs complained about funding as they have been shortchanged from the Federal allocation. We challenge any of the Council boss to come on national TV to enumerate his achievements since the
last selection process. Governor Amosun should ask himself some fundamental questions before embarking on creation of LCDAs.
These include among others:
1. What has been the achievements of the existing 20 Local Government area under his administration?.
2. How viable are the existing Local Government areas under his administration?.
3. Are the Local Government contributing
meaningfully to the development of Ogun state and by extension Nigeria since he became the number one man in the state in 2011.
4. If Ogun state can't afford to manage 2 state
University and there are "accumulated debt" asclaimed by the Governor, how will the state finance the LCDA considering the necessities?. 5. What is the mind-set of an average Gatewarian?. Do they want the creation or is just like the usual forceful projects?
6. Is there any legislation backing the idea?.
For us as a party, this is another misrule from the Ibikunle Amosun administration. It is completely a misplaced priority!. The existence of a Local Government as recognized by the constitution is for a
serious business, administrative convenience and purposeful leadership at the grassroot not a 'jamboree' set out to achieve by Amosun's administration in Ogun state. We therefore advise His Excellency Senator Ibikunle Amosun (FCA) to focus on other sector of the state to make life meaningful to the citizenry.
God bless Ogun state.
