dare0834: Are we going ahead with the same league as last season as i can see that i am already registered.
Yes same league but only for the premier league as you are automatically renewed, but for the head to head cup games where you face a different team each week then you will need a code to join those leagues.

Nepotism is everywhere in the world but others strike a balance between their favoritism and merit. It is the same thing that happens in china, they practice nepotism too but it does not affect their drive for merit. We on the other hand do not care about merit or performance and just practice nepotism blatantly.

One more thing they try to balance in the western world, is the percentage of competent and semi competent people in the workforce and through training help to develop the semi competent people to higher standards. We on the other hand do not care about the balance but just practice nepotism by putting every tom dick and harry into the system. Fasola the governor of lagos state had to cry out recently that the workforce is not competent enough for the development of the state.

So nepotism is everywhere ( even worst than ours self) but they do it with sense without affecting the quality too much but we on the other hand . . we all know the productivity of Nigerian workers.

Afam4eva: While i agree with you that any group have the right to self-determination, it's also imperative that you don't speak for the groups in Anioma. You can speak for yourself and maybe your family but not the whole Anioma. The only parts of Anioma that tries to do away with the Igbo tag are the Ikas and Ukwuani. People from Asaba, Ubulu-Uku, Ogwashukwu, Ibuzor and co are proud Igbos. Btw, Anioma is not an ethnic group. It's just an association of Igboid groups in Delta state.
Please don't ever make reference to my family anymore and let the individuals in all of anioma speak for themselves instead of you speaking for all of asaba, ubulu-uku etc also, so physician heal thyself first and put your advice to good use before dishing it out. It does not matter if it will be referred to as an ethnic group or an association but the fact is that we have chosen to identify with that only. You can take the aniocha and oshimili people with you since they are proud igbos because as for us we absolutely do not see any benefit taking up the igbo identity over what we collectively decide to go with ourselves.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by Pharoh: 6:52am On Aug 02, 2013
Abagworo: You would have made a reasonable contribution if you understood Afam very well. There's no particular place called Igbo in the Southeast. Igbo was used to classify all "bia" speaking people and Southeast is just an artificial creation. Izzi, Ngwa, Aro, Ukwuani, Ndoki, Mgbo, Ezaa, Edda, Isu, Oru, Ndoni, Ohaji, Oratta, Awka, Etche, Ika, Enuani etc existed on their own but had links with each other which were sometimes tight and sometimes elastic. The word Igbo encompasses all these groups. You can only compare Ika with say Ngwa or Aro but not merging them as Igbo because the difference between Ika and Onitsha is also the difference between Ngwa and Aro or Isu and Ndoki. Hope you now understand Afam's point.
Thanks for your message and it serves as a very good foundation to understand ourselves fully instead of going from page to page arguing about the same thing in cycles. I understand afam and why i used the word ika is different from igbos is because all the groups in the southeast have accepted this classification or term used to describe the bia speaking peoples of Nigeria and fully present that as their main identity. When i used the word igbo, i am pointing at the various bia groups east of the river niger that has fully embraced the igbo identity.

On the other hand the groups west of the river Niger do not accept this classification/identity or want to be part of this description and like everyone already agreed here, all these groups existed independently on their own before the westerners came to classify us that way. Even when Yoruba was used to describe groups of people that spans an area from Nigeria to far away Ghana but not all of them recognition this like the groups in Nigeria who are fully under this identity.

So no it is time people understand what the opposite side has been trying to say all along, we do not want to be part of this igbo description or classification. We want to stay on our own like we were prior to when the British came to colonize us and the advent of all these artificial creations like south east, south south and states. If we ever want to form a united group for more strategic, economic and political purposes then we will do that under the anioma umbrella. Others can continue with the igbo classification and leave those who do not want to be part of it. It does not stop us from relating with each other or working together for the mutual benefit of everyone.

Or do you want to tell me that the igbo classification is binding on us or what exactly is the point that no one is trying to understand what agbotaen has been saying all along?. It is very simple and that is we do not want to be part of the igbo classification and can be like we were before the British came.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by Pharoh: 10:02pm On Aug 01, 2013
Afam4eva: Compare the blue colored statement to the red colored one and you'll notice the inconsistency. How can you say Ika is seperate from Igbos just like Egba is seperate from Ife(and not Yoruba). That shows some of you don't even understand the whole concept of ethnicity. There's no such place called Igbo. It's just a moniker used to describe Bia speaking groups.
Ika is a different group from the igbos of southeast but they are closely related like the same way they are related to ikwere, ukwuani and the other bia speaking group of people. You guys are confusing yourself because the world igbo was used to describe our people cluster but we are composed of different people groups.

When you look at the yoruba cluster, you will see that it stretches beyond Nigeria and non of the people group in the list are called yoruba but yoruba was used to describe them all. The people group in the yoruba (within Nigeria) cluster have socially evolved, clinged more together, rallied more behind the yoruba identity for self preservation purposes and for the fact that every group or tribe is now respected after their various civil wars. They look out for each other and no one group is really trying to dominate the others and that's why you see yorubas from outside a state having leadership positions in other states.

While in our own people cluster or classification, the larger igbo group from the southeast is trying to dominate the other smaller groups and lord everything over them. For self preservation purpose the other groups like ika, ikwerre and ukwuani will always promote and identify with their ethnicity before anything else. We have aspirations, culture, traditions and ideology to preserve and pursue that is different from the igbos of the southeast. The only way to draw all the group closer is either by force ( not possible in one Nigeria) or you put your house in order to create a need for cooperation and closer ties.

In many ways the igbos from the southeast are a disappointment and it would be better to stay on our own than join in their delusion.

I am really hoping the bale issue does not come to pass as we do not need these superstar distraction and lets focus to work more as a team. We can all see that ronaldo is now roaming in the front line instead of insisting on playing from the left wing, so we want flexibility and less status of mini gods in the team. It breeds unwanted egos that if looked carefully contributed to some of our disappointments.

Concerning the title of the thread maybe a constant "Real Madrid Fans Thread" - a changing slogan which depends on what we are aiming for at the moment. So if we go with what ortopazz suggested than the thread should be titled "Real Madrid Fans Thread - Road to la decima"
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by Pharoh: 11:05am On Jul 31, 2013
Because we all belong to the same people cluster due to similarities in culture, language, religion etc does not make us the same people. Ika is a separate group of people from igbos just like egba is a separate group from ife but they belong to the same yoruba people cluster. People cluster exist for strategic, political and economic purposes but the good thing is that the people cluster is very pragmatic in definition that any group of people can form their own cluster.

Anioma (ika, ndokwa, aniocha and oshimilli) has decided to form their own people cluster away from the igbo cluster and that should be respected. Because the yoruba cluster survived and is manageable does not mean the igbos cluster has to survive. The yoruba cluster did not exist firmly until the dominant people group in the cluster (oyo/ife) stopped her overbearing imposion on the other groups for the sake of peaceful existence. The igbo dorminant group in the south east should learn from this instead of trying to forcefully lord himself over the other groups like ika, ukwuani, ikwere etc people.

Igbos are different from ika, ukwuani and ikwere so don't be misled by the similarities in culture and language to classify them as same people. The definition of a people cluster is different from the meaning of people group and you can take a look at this site.

I go with what you have up there except that i think the ration should be 60:30:10 or 50:30:15:5. If we have 20 committed players then maybe everyone should add "X" extra £$ or euro to make up for the management fee instead of making it free. Every other thing is perfect for me and let me add some ideas for the head to head betting league since this one is for the normal league right?.

@chamo. . . thanks for the code and i will check out the betting thread later.

I think making the cup competitions maximum of 20 members is best in my opinion as there will be fixed home and away matches for every team just like the premier league is made up of 20 teams. I think it should be reduced to 20 and i don't mind having the axe if this is going to happen.

Twenty team is best for fierce competition with five teams relegating at the end of each season and we can make it like this as it is not too late to fix things . . you have to put your feet down and force the cup compositions.

Champions league - 20
Fa Cup - 20
Carling Cup - 20

Just a suggestion anyway as we can go ahead with the present format.

repogirl: So anyone who wants to su'e the guy, please do so freely. I dey your back. cheesy
Thanks repogirl as you clearly understood what i was explaining there but registration of your work goes a along way to benefit you more than just going about it without registration.

If you want compensation, legal evidence of your copyright and commercial exploitation of your works then registering it is the best option and you can do that any time you want.

Inosenduatall: If the copyright of Nairaland served as protection not just of its coding and layouts and graphics but also of the contents of the Literature/Writing section, then that means that all our works are now the sole property of Nairaland which belongs to Seun Osewa. Which means if we decide to duplicate our works somewhere else, it will be well within Seun's rights to sue our asses off. After all it is now the sole property of Nairaland.

Una get my drift sha? Let us protect our own works.
Thank you too for understanding my write up there and in relation to what you have there in your comment, then i must say you guys are totally safe from that.

I have searched through nairaland to find something that gives up the rights to the contents we post on nairaland and there is nothing of such so you all are safe and still retain full rights to your works.

You only need to read the terms of service, policies and user agreements of any other site you decide to post your works. So you guys should thank seun a little bit as he also knows that the stories here have been beneficial to him and his site as well. The moderator cuddlemii of this section should also be thanked as she really rallied behind the scenes to work with seun in resolving this issue for you guys and you can see that from the committee which seun just created.

I am sure nairaland has been a beneficial platform to you guys also in one way or the order to share your stories.
LiteratureRe: Help!!! Plagiarist On The Loose by Pharoh: 10:11pm On Mar 16, 2013
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

The way this issue has been approached by the writers in my opinion shows some level of ignorance I must say and hope no one is offended by my directness.

First I will begin by saying I sympathize with you guys that your work has been plagiarized and you must have toiled very hard to produce these stories.

I feel it is important at this point to clarify some issues and point at the direction each and every one of you should follow whenever there is a future reoccurrence of this kind of situation.

WRITERS COPYRIGHT RIGHT

Nigeria is a signatory to the Berne Convention so therefore you do not need a registration to claim full ownership to your created original works.
Once you have transmitted your work to a platform or medium of distribution to the public then you automatically acquire the right to your works and every territory where the Berne convention is in place.

You lose this right when you agree to any medium or platform requires you to give up those rights vested on you under the Berne Convention. You also give up this right when you sign agreements with a publishing firm or transfer this right to someone else.
I don’t know why you people are attacking seun as he was magnanimous enough not to take this right away from you through the nairaland privacy policy or requiring any form of user agreement before using this forum that would have required you to give up those copyright.

ABOUT NAIRALAND COPYRIGHT POLICY

“COPYRIGHT NOTICE - All content posted on the message boards of Paradox is the exclusive intellectual property of Paradox. Copyright ownership of that content resides with Paradox and the Company is free to use any of the content as they wish. Anyone other than Paradox seeking to reprint, republish, or reproduce content posted on the Paradox message boards must receive the express written permission from Paradox Interactive. By posting on the Paradox message boards you are agreeing to the above and relinquishing all copyright to the contents of the post(s) to Paradox.”

The above is an example of a copyright agreement you will find in some message boards or forums and it is usually embedded in the privacy policy or user agreement that is signed when registering to the website.

Luckily for every one of us, nairaland does not have anything of such, so we all have full rights to whatever thing we post here on nairaland and that goes for all your stories provided they are not copyrighted materials.

If you post copyrighted materials here illegally and the original creator finds it here then the rightful thing they do is to inform nairaland of this issue. The owner of administrator of nairaland will delete those comments and place your handle on a ban.

They can also go ahead to require seun to give them your private information through a court order or without a court order if you have given seun the right to use your private information through a user agreement.

RIGHT OF ACTION IN CASES LIKE THIS

I noticed that everyone has been disturbing seun and the moderator to do something about this issue but in truth they absolutely should not do anything concerning the request being made of them. The best they can do is to ban offending members, delete posts, investigate and reveal private information or cooperate with a court process.
The copyright notice at the bottom of this site is more focused on the programing code used to build nairaland, the graphics, features and various designs found all over nairaland. This same copyright could have extended to forum post if we all gave up those rights in the terms of service, privacy policy or user agreements when registering to Nairaland.

Nairaland is not a publishing house and posting your stories here does not transfer any form of ownership to seun and therefore he is not under any form of obligation to go to beyond nairaland to help you guys as his powers are limited to nairaland based on the various agreements found here.

The truth is that you guys retained full ownership to your works, they are already protected by posting it here on nairaland and should you find it anywhere else on the web without reference then it is your duty to go after the infringement yourself.
It is not the duty of nairaland moderators or seun to go to Facebook and ask them to bring it down as they are not the owner of those works but you guys. Putting a copyright notice or disclaimer with your work is actually not needed under the Berne convention and you only do that so people like the offender will not claim ignorance.

You are good to go by showing them your written works on a producing platform like a word document or showing them the difference in date between the post on nairaland and Facebook. You can also register your works and notify NCC so that you can get a certificate of ownership and this serves as a legal proof should you need that but it is not actually required to obtain copyright for your works or prosecute cases.

So please this post is just trying to point it out to you guys that the onus to protect your works rests solely on you guys as you are the original creators and still retain full rights to your works even if they have been posted here on nairaland.

If you post your works on naijapals originally and you find it here on nairaland without reference then you have the right to inform seun about this to delete the post and ban the poster and request for personal information to prosecute the case. That is the way the owner of a work goes about issues like this, so in this case and for future purposes . . .it is your job to go against the offender yourself and not nairaland, the moderator or seun.

Now i expect you guys to be angry with me by focusing on the writers only but here is it . . seun can be of help to you guys because he benefits one way or the order from you guys posting stories here so i will not expect him to leave you guys solely to fight this issues alone.

Love you guys and kudos to the wonderful stories you post here. . more grease to your elbows. I sympathize with you guys but it is important we know our rights and how to go about this from now on.
I can answer more questions if there is any and post links to copyright materials for you guys to read yourselves.

^^

Lagos should link to benin and benin city will be a mini hub with three branches, one to port harcourt, enugu and abuja. Then the one from bida should link to the line going to abuja and there should be one more extension from makurdi to maiduguri if more important cities can be found along that route. I think sokoto should be linked to minna and the line that goes to port harcourt should be extended to calabar, uyo and join back to makurdi.

If this is not complicated or too expensive then it will be good to develop the system further and work with bus transport companies to extend the journeys to nearby cities not served by the rail system.
