TravelRe: I Want To Visit Maiduguri, Lake Chad From Australia by Pheo: 4:35pm On Oct 06, 2020
jasbur:
Hey. I'm from Australia and I travel to politically interesting places and make documentaries about them. I'm independent and not with any organization. Tell me, realistically how safe is Maiduguri for a white guy if I was to have a local with me? What about lake chad? Is it even accessible? What about Kano? I'm not worried about a bit of danger, I've been to war zones before, but I need to know about accessibility and stuff.

Also is crossing the border to Chad feasible?
Why maiduguri?? there are other interesting places to visit in nigeria asides that.
tho there some areas safe in maiduguri but you'd need someone that understands the terrain to be your guide

RomanceRe: Why Men Should Not Get Advice From Women About Women by Pheo: 11:23pm On May 11, 2018
Lazyreporta:
When I was having trouble understanding women, I remember going to my women friends for advice. I figured: Hey, they’re women, so they should have a clue and be able to help me out, right? Wrong. The advice they gave me seemed sound, and it meshed with what I had always thought about women. This sometimes pisses women off, but the truth is, the average woman does not understand what attracts them to one guy vs. another. What they say they want in a man is not what they actually date and stay with.
Most women, when you bring your problems about understanding another woman to them, will try to make you feel better about what is going on. It is just like when you try to date a woman, she is not going to tell you straight out: Hey, I’m really not interested. A woman friend is not going to burst your ego and tell you: Hey, it sounds as though she just doesn’t like you. Move on. Instead, they will give you rationalizations: Maybe she is just coming out of a bad relationship. Maybe she really isn’t getting your calls. Maybe she just likes you too much and is afraid of getting into something right now. Women are emotional beings and will always think about how what they say is going to make you feel. So take their advice with a grain of salt.
Why do women, even our female friends, do this to us? I believe it is mostly because they don’t want to deal with your questions of: So tell me why she doesn’t like me. Is there something wrong with me? without hurting your feelings. They would rather try to soothe it over and nudge you gently in another direction, rather than being straight up about their suspicions and hurt you.
Women are all about emotions and emotional reactions. Men are more straightforward. While men may deal from a place of emotions, they don’t take time to necessarily look at the emotional side of the equation. They would rather have simple, non-emotionally clouded answers. The trouble is that our women friends do nothing more than cloud the issue rather than setting us straight.

I don't really subscribe to this but it's a free world and every body is entitled to their opinions
for me having a guy friends, he is my priority not the the girl his trying to talk to me about so I give advice him putting myself in the girls shoes and tell him.the truth, if I realize she doesn't like him I tell him straight no mincing words coz he's my friend
any lady friend lying to her guy friend isn't really a friend#fact
Nairaland GeneralRe: What's Your Definition Of The Word "Stingy"? by Pheo: 7:35am On Apr 13, 2018
TheUpsetGirl1:
what's your definition of stingy??

to me a stingy person is the one who you spend on, help in time of his/her needs, but doesn't spend on you and doesn't help in your time of needs.

like;
I spend on a guy, help him when he needs help but he doesn't spend on me, give excuses and refuse to help me in times when I'm in need of help.

what's your own definition of stingy? because I've noticed that the word have different meanings to many people.
a stingy guy is someone who when you ask him for something he starts quoting the scriptures or starts giving you reasons why wat you need the money for isn't important or is always broke when you ask

kingchris30:
GNLD is not just being on fair to job seekers, they are also spoiling the some company reputation and making networking market look bad, the truth is that networking market is cool, if you are the type and if you get a good one but you sont have to lie to people, is annoying. I think they should start taking legal action against them
the worse part is their drugs don't even work
Jobs/VacanciesRe: GNLD Happened To Me Today For The First Time by Pheo: 12:00pm On Apr 12, 2018
Earthbound:
This Nairaland account belongs to my alter ego. You might have seen him on some threads here in the comment section. Joblessness is what makes him on Nairaland most of the time, coupled with the fact that we both hate other forms of social media. Recently, we've submitted some applications online so as not to drown in unemployment.

Today, brothers and sisters, after receiving an email to an invite for an interview at a 'construction company', I was met with the shock of my life!

I boarded a bus from Opebi to Anthony, then to UPS bus top at Gbagada. I was running late. The 'interview' was slated for 9am and it was about 8:45am I found my way into the industrial estate stated on the address. I said to myself, 'how will your potential employers view this lateness, you don f up!' After asking around, I finally got the address. I received a call from the lady who invited me to the 'interview' asking where i was. I was elated! To cut the long story medium, I found myself in a crowded hall with certain people each screaming on top of their voices to small groups of people. As I looked around the hall knowing I've been scammed into wasting valuable transport fare, I found myself looking face to face with a huge poster that read 'Neolife' with GNLD written somewhere at the bottom corner. I felt h
deeply betrayed.

Fast forward to a couple of minutes later, my 'sponsor' was screaming on top of her voice, made up acronyms of words like JOB, SALARY, etc. I was just devastated. If I'd allowed Earthbound out, He would have created a huge scene, so I had him suppressed.

At the seminar, the speaker went on and on about how messed up it is to be an employee and not a 'freelancer'. I wasn't buying it. If I'm selling someone else's product, network people, under the same product, I'm definitely working for whoever is paying me at the end of the day. Maybe he was making sense but I was just madly pissed I was basically lied to. I'm not one to build anything, a relationship, business, on a lie.

I would like to know if anyone here has experienced this kind of thing. It has to stop. How can you lie to get an unemployed person's hopes up in getting a job only for you to turn around and ask him/her to bring N13250 to register for network marketing? That's just pure evil.

God is watching you GDNL people.

Modified

Please if you have experience with this, please share their various methodologies and possibly addresses to help other job seekers. Thanks.
you're not the only one oo..I had an experience during my 200l days.
you know unilorin gives long vacation and I was looking for a job. I was told about an ushering job where dey pay 5k per day and I was happy about it
from ogba to dopemu that day, I didn't even know the venue well, kept asking around for directions and lots of trekking only for me to meet a truck load of people at the venue giving me network marketing seminars and how being an entrepreneur is the best, when dey actually need a job cos they all look hungry
but I learnt 2 things.
1. be an entrepreneur
2. don't believe a hungry looking man on the street of Lagos sharing job interview tracts

Not the same culture. Shaka Zulu = Zulu person. Now Mandela = Xhosa person. The two cultures are related though. I just don't know if Zulu people follow a similar practise.

FamilyRe: Why Do Women Change Their Names After Getting Married?? by Pheo: 10:34am On Mar 22, 2018
XhosaNostra:
Lol, that's better, in my culture, they give you a new name altogether. You'll no longer even be "Isabella", you'll be "Lorraine" grin

They say it's because marriage is a new identity. Whatever you did under your "old name", is now put behind you, including the name itself. You're turning on a new page as a new being, someone's wife. It's always funny watching new brides when they're still coming to terms with their new given names. You'll be calling them & they won't respond because they still haven't gotten used to them.

The new names are usually nice & meaning though.
wow that's interesting..
pls where is it being practiced..I wanna know more
