In August 2016, an engineer from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, arrived at the Kotoka International Airport to help close out a project in Takoradi. But his trip to Ghana turned into and entertaining comic fest on Twitter.
This engineer, Tolu Bablo ( @ToluBablo on Twitter), from the moment he touched down, had been tweeting his experiences mostly comparing them to conditions in Nigeria.
What made his account even more interesting was the natural humour and satire that came with his tweets.
When Nigerian website, Covebeat, asked Tolu about his motivation to livetweet his stay in Ghana he replied, “I (used to) write, but I haven’t in a year. I am too lazy nowadays to think up an article. This was the second best option.”
He added that he did not expect this much attention when he started tweeting.
Remarking on what he would miss most about Ghana he replied “the peace, the quiet, the laid back atmosphere, the view; double entendre intended and the organisation.”
He was supposed to be in Ghana till September 19th, but currently he isn’t so sure anymore. According to him, he might have to leave today or then.

Undefeated WBO Africa bantamweight champion, Duke Micah, successfully defended his title and obtained a record of 18 career wins after knocking out Nigeria's Yakuub Kareem over the weekend.
Micah’s victory was confirmed after the eighth round when his contender threw in the towel.
“I did my best to come out of this fight in peace and with a nice face. … This is my best fight because he is someone who can receive punches. … It was a good test for me,” Micah said.
The bout was staged at the D.J. Hathiramani Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday August 6.

Close to four hundred customers of British Airways have signed a petition seeking for the airline to improve its services and make amendments to a number of its operations especially on the Accra-London (Heathrow) route.
The petitioners, majority Ghanaians, are unhappy with what they term as the airline’s poor services including severe delays, lack of permanent stands, bad customer service, old aircrafts and severely understaffed teams.
The petition which is being spearheaded by the Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards foundation is also demanding that the airline changes the use of Terminal three at the Heathrow airport for flights to Ghana.
The petition calls for the use of terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport for flights to Ghana to be changed back to terminal 5.
According to the petitioners the demand is as a result of the appalling and unprofessional conditions Ghanaians and passengers to Accra are forced to face at that terminal.
They contend that services that were offered at terminal five led to higher efficiency and productivity for those visiting Ghana and that must resume.
Meanwhile the petitioners say ‘we have experienced without improvement; severe delays, lack of permanent stands, bad customer service and severely understaffed teams.
Serious concerns have also been raised about the types of aircrafts being used on our route which happens to be one of the most expensive in the world.
In addition, when delays happen, information flow has been very bad’.

Dear British Airways,

Six foot Python

A six foot python was overpowered by a brave individual at the old Aplaku Muslim cemetery near Bortianor when it tried to escape after being spotted.
According to the man who gave his name as Alhaji, they had come there on Sunday morning to weed and clear out the Muslim cemetery when he detected movement at the far end leading to one of the walls. He said he rushed there only to find the huge python, stretched out and ready to fight him.
“As we were weeding, I noticed some movement in the grass towards the far end of the cemetery so I quickly rushed there to see what it was.
“To my surprise I found a huge snake starring straight at me and it had the height of a six foot human being and was much taller than me.

“I grabbed him by the tail and it started twisting ferociously putting up a brave fight trying to overpower me but I still held on even though I realised I was running out of energy.
“I shouted out to my friends who were with me and one ran with a cutlass whiles I was still struggling to hold onto the huge snake.
“I instructed him to chop its head off which he did but even after that the python was still fighting to escape so we got more hands to come in and help and eventually managed to cut his head off completely”.
He added that there are lots more of such pythons that needed to be weeded out of the area.

Why do pilots engage autopilot soon after take off?

Why is it that any cheat in vehicle emission test usually has to do with vehicles with diesel engines? My question comes in the wake of the recent VW dieselgate. Please help me!

Some car manufacturers also have some writings usually at the back of the car to indicate the car has diesel engine. Here are some of them.

Well comfortability is subjective. Somebody can be earning thousands of dollars in a month and still be uncomfortable. You say living Ghana is expensive but Nigerians are trooping in and relocating to Ghana on a daily basis so that should tell you something.

Why do you say it's not true . 70k will be around 850 cedis if I use the rate some people are quoting on this thread. There are people who earn less than that in Accra and they are living OK.

Between the metric and imperial systems of measurement, which of them are you comfortable working with? I like to work with the metric system. What about you?

You were spot on with a lot of things but just want to address a few misconceptions.

1. All over the world you will find that women are generally more friendly an excepting to outsiders than their male ccounterparts. If you go to America, South Africa etc you will find that you will get more "love" from the woman. If a Ghanaian man and a Ghanaian woman went to Nigeria who do you think would get more luv? the women would get more luv from the guy and more likely than not. This is the truth and if you travel more you would understand why.


2. Just like you have some Nigerians who hate Ghanaians you will find some Ghanaians who hate Nigerians. That however does not mean every Ghanaian or every Nigerian. I know some Ghanaians who went to Nigeria and had the worst experience ever. Does it mean all Nigerians are bad and that Nigeria is a bad country with bad people? Like I said many Ghanaians tend to be wary of Nigerians because of experiences. It does not mean that we hate you. If you are a good person and you come to Ghana to do legit business or are gainfully employed than you will not suffer or have any issues in Ghana.

5. People should try and be objective and provide proper advice. Everywhere you go you will find some things that are better than your country and some things that are worse than your country. This is why you need to analyse what you want to do first in any country but the best experience is visiting the country itself. Life is tough everywhere and its even tougher in another country if you do not have some steady flow of income and are legally residing there than you will enjoy it. This goes for anywhere in the world if you are not legal and don't have study income you will suffer.

6. Not all Ghanaian women 'love' or are interested in Nigerian men so just becareful because I see a lot of generalisations here. Yes you will find some girls that will like Nigerian men either because they had good experience dating you, bad experience with ghanaian men, want to try something different or the money hungry ones who love the flashy nature and the spending. Those are not the majority so saying Ghanaian women love Nigerian men more than their own men because we feel they are more responsible is a fallacy of the highest order. The reverse is the case besides most women prefer their own men then others so this is normal.

In conclusion Ghana is not heaven. Ita still a third world country just like Nigeria but will obviously have some things that are better than Nigeria and some things that are worse. The grass is not always greener on the other side. I always believe that if you are doing okay in your country then unless you can go and for better elsewhere its better you stay in own country than go and suffer in another. The good thing about Ghana is that its close to Nigeria but for other people who relocate to far away countries, its not as easy to come back home bearing in mind costs and all.
