Glistinin:Keep crying. It is not my fault, neither that of millions of Nigerians, that Peter Obi and the igbos could not seize the opportunity to get the elusive Igbo presidency. Nigerians tried for igbos but you guys blew it up and an an igbo man will NEVER be the president of Nigeria after the Appeal Court delivers its judgment on September 16, 2023. For your information, the Appeal Court is the tryer of fact and the Supreme Court will loath to substitute its finding of fact for that of the Appeal Court judges who saw and heard the witnesses. So after any dismissal of petition on September 16, the Igbos will NEVER be President of Nigeria in this life time. Keep deluding yourselves that you are better than other Nigerians and that they are envious of you. Keep up the delusions because you will be at it forever as long as Nigeria remains a united entity. Keep up with the insults and hate you hear?? |
rtdCivilservant:It was the Muslim/Muslim Ticket that gingered Christians to queue behind him. And the anger of Christians is justified because muslims would never have allowed a Christian/Christian ticket. Christian docility and conditioning is another topic that Christians need to look at critically and a topic of discussion for another day or thread. But on this Peter Obi matter, a lot of Nigerians really labored in vain for him and may be that is why he is not President. He is too soft and idealistic and i dont like people like that. It is just painful that we put in so much effort without gaining anything from it. |
DSC7:SMH.....I supported your tribe online and offline to the detriment of my relationship with my own people. Now, you faceless individual accuse me of incitement against igbos? Anyways, September 16, 2023 is almost here so we can all move on from the massive waste of time that Peter Obi and the Obidient movement has been. You expect other Nigerians to support and die for Peter Obi when igbos cannot do the simplest thing of having and presenting a unified front to demand their rights from the Nigerian state. We should never have supported a tribe still suffering from the psychological defeat and lack of confidence from the loss of the civil war. You igbos are not built for leadership at all. Una go explain tire cos no evidence. |
DSC7:He doesnt even have the loyalties of IPOB. Who does he expect to fight for him? The young, educated Nigerians online called Obidients? How many Igbo elites have stuck out their neck for the man? He is just an idealist who scuttled Atiku's chances of being President. |
rtdCivilservant:He really damaged our churches oooo. I cant believe any man of God in Nigeria ever again because of that charlatan. Christians thought he had a plan B if he was cheated but his hope was that non-Igbo Christians will do everything for him. Acclaimed men of God stuck their neck and ministries out for this man but his own igbo people cannot even do anything to support him. Is it a yoruba Christian that will die for him? All Nigerians put sentiment behind them to vote an igbo man for onve in their life but we never knew the man we supported and his tribe were never serious. Anyways, our eyes are now open and we have moved on. It is the idiots online who are disturbing other Nigerians online that need to be done away with through the dismissal of the petition with punitive costs by the Court. |
onumadu:SMH.....I like igbos for their enterprise and business acumen but you guys are too emotional and are not fit to handle power. Because of the loss of the civil war and the psychological defeat that accompanied it, you guy never face reality. It is well. At least after September 16, 2023, Nigerians will never troop out to attempt making any igbo President again. Peter Obi had the support but he wasted it. |
Joey4321:Then he is not ready to reclaim any mandate. He is just playing then. Anyways, i always knew all the twitter noise is just for engagement as the igbos just dont have that leverage in Nigeria. That is the sad reality. He wasted the time of the people and did lasting damage to the Nigerian church. |
onumadu:Our courts are not strong enough to rule against a sitting Nigerian President. Also, the igbos dont have leverage in Nigeria so nobody fears them. And in the event that a miracle happens and they rule against Tinubu, then the igbos will certainly face attacks all over Nigeria. That is for sure. |
seunmsg:I mean Obidients as presently constituted. I am a former Obidient and i am yoruba. I have since moved on having realised the igbos dont have what it takes to wrestle Nigeria for their due right. I, a yoruba man, cannot die for an igbo man now. Even the support i gave to Peter Obi during the election cost me my long term friends who stuck with Asiwaju. |
lexylaw09:He was cheated. But that is a topic that has been thrashed repeatedly. He is a weak man from a weak tribe in Nigeria so he can be treated any how. |
Rumors are swelling that the PEPT has set a date for judgment in the various petitions filed by the opposition parties against the election of February 25, 2023. All Nigerians came out to vote for Peter Obi on that day but he was cheated. Instead of Nigerians to revolt on the spot when the momentum was high, Peter Obi in his usual feminine and soft style chose to approach a compromised judiciary in a failed and utterly corrupt African basket case of a contraption (Nigeria) for justice. Twitter is filled with Obidients raising their hopes and Blood Pressure in anticipation for the definite disappointment that will hit them on September 6, 2023. These are the reasons Peter Obi and the Igbos will be cheated and nothing will happen: 1. Most Obidients are Igbos are they are not ready to fight and die on the streets of major Nigerian cities. 2. The lives and properties of millions of igbos living outside the South East will be put in extreme danger if the Courts even conceive the idea of delivering justice to Nigerians. Igbos are to blame for that because they made themselves easy targets for attack by investing and dwelling mainly outside their homeland. 3. IPOB, who are the glory and punching arms of the Igbos seem not to like or care for Peter Obi. In fact, the incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu has severely degraded the political and social capabilities of igbos to the extent that the Nigerian state dont fear them anymore. 4. The Igbo elites and celebrities dont really like Peter Obi. In fact, average igbo boys doing trade in lagos hate Peter Obi because they say he is very stingy. I have spoken with many of them in this lagos and they admitted to not liking him for the way he ruled in Anambra. The elites have kept quiet while their brother was cheated and disgraced by the Nigerian state. This problem is for the igbos to solve because millions of non-igbos have tried on this peter obi matter. 5. Peter Obi is an idealist and he is f.ucking stingy. I will repeat it, the man is too stingy. This is because, in the whole of igbo land, no strong man is willing to come out and risk his life for him. I have watched the man very carefully and i realised he only depends on Obidients who are very young and educated Nigerians to fight his cause for him. The youth movement called Obidient has really tried for Peter Obi and will not lay down their lives for him in a confrontation against the Federal Government of Nigeria. Igbo elites and intelligentsia should come out and make their voices heard on this Peter Obi matter or they should shut up for ever about their alleged marginalisation in Nigeria. No non-igbo should go out and die for Peter Obi when he is cheated on September 6, 2023. If Peter Obi cannot get strong men in the east and the igbo elites to stand up for him, then it speaks to his character as a person and as a politician. President Tinubu has thousands of Nigerians who are ready to spill blood to protect him and that his because Bola Tinubu has raised and touched the lives of thousands of Nigerians through his philantropy over the years No Nigerian politician will enjoy have the groundswell of support of Nigerian youths like Peter Obi had. It was a perfect opportunity for him to take power through the will of the masses but he allowed it to slip out of his hands because he is a soft, effeminate and idealist simpleton. An Nyesom Wike, or any sharp Nigerian politician for that matter, will never have allowed himself to be cheated the way Peter Obi did. Millions of Nigerians, especially Christians came out to support this man but he did not even have the support of the strong men in his region. Even in the absence of Nnamdi Kanu, there remains millions of strong igbo men that should have come out to make a statement but they never did because they dont like or believe in Peter Obi. That is a red flag every non-igbo should pay attention to. The Nigerian church and millions of non-igbos have tried for Peter Obi and the igbos abeg. Because of Peter Obi, our reverred men of God in Christiandom have faced ridicule and opprobrium. Millions of Christians dont attend church anymore due to the loss of faith in God and the church as a result of the many failed prophecies about this same charlatan, Peter Obi. The igbos cannot say that other Nigerians have not tried for their son. While it may seem late, the gauntlet can still be picked up and utilised to show their displeasure. The choice is all theirs (the igbos). After the PEPT sanctions the electoral heist and robbery of February 25, 2023, i doubt any Igbo man will everr rule Nigeria again and they(igbos) deserve it. Never place money and business over your own diginity. They had the opportunity to show their displeasure over the injustice meted to their son but they have chosen to keep quiet because of properties, shops and their displaced citizens scattered in enemy regions all over Nigeria. Have a blessed week and God bless Nigeria. |
In the midst of the whole confirmation brouhaha of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, i started getting excited and happy about the problems he is encountering , with some part of me feeling that he is receiving just recompense for his killings of Christians in Southern Kaduna and utter contempt for Christians generally. I saw many Christians getting excited online too. Upon deeper reflection, i later realised that the reason many Christians are excited about the possibility of El-Rufai being denied being a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is because we fear that he may be President one day if he remains in the public eye by holding political office. This fear is what the muslims and their extremists (like El-Rufai, Wasppapping on twitter and millions of Muslim rubes in Nigeria) thrive on. They know that Christians fear violence and terrorism. They know we do not want our way of life threatened or eroded by Islamic expansionism. And why do we fear Islam and its violence so much? It is because as Christians, we have put so much in building ourselves by acquiring an education, having a compact nuclear family with birth control and generally having a western capitalist outlook. We are terrified of having to drop our nice cushy jobs, cathedrals and church halls to fight for our very lives. As Christians, we do not want any wahala at all and because of that, we are now being bullied to submission in our own country. It is because of this same aversion to hard life that our men of God are lying on pulpits by prophesying what they never saw. They fleece us of our money every sunday in the form of Tithes and Offerings. And for all these to be possible, they have to make us soft little pussies who dont want any wahala. Now how do we survive without wahala in a country with a sizeable muslim population? Muslims will always bully you if they know that you are a coward. The reason why we are having islamic terrorism in this country is because the muslims know that all we will do when attacked is to make noise and twitter and then forget about it in obedience to biblical injunction of turning the other cheek. Well, Bleep biblical injunctions! The American Christians and the Jews dont turn to biblical injunctions when faced with Islamic violence and terror. They respond with proportionate or higher levels of violence when they are faced with islamic terror. So why are Nigerian Christians so soft? Is it that we are scared of losing all we have acquired to those who have nothing to lose (Most Musim rubes have nothing to lose and are ready to die for their religion)? Christians need to reimagine or reassess some biblical injunctions and the preaching of many pastors who just want you to lie low and die when attacked. Nigeria is not a normal country and we need to survive. Right to self defence is part of survival and we will still lose the way of life we cherish so much if we dont "toughen up" against those who wish to harm us. Part of that reawakening exercise is to be very circumspect about being too "churchy" and to alway second-guess the teaching of the millions of hungry and criminal pastors in Nigeria. Those criminals on the pulpit just want our money and nothing else. They dont care if muslims kill all Christians in this country. As for Nasir El-Rufai, i know he will still be confirmed. All these shenanighans about his nomination being denied is just politics by APC and Tinubu to deceive Christians that the DSS and security agencies are reviewing the plethora of petitions against him. The fact is that El-Rufai will be confirmed by the Senate and he will continue to terrorize Christians in whatever capacity he finds himself because that is what TERRORISTS and muslims generally do -- they terrorize people they feel they can defeat. The solution is for Nigerian Christians to toughen up a bit and be used to facing and reprising violence. We are too soft and we just want a life but that would never happen because we have many muslims in our midst. Life is war and we are literally at war in Nigeria. To that end, i say F*UCK NASIR EL-RUFAI and other islamic extremists. We would no longer be scared of your violence anymore. This is just my friday evening musings. Selah. |
Penguin2:This is logical argument. The judges ought to reason that why should a man be willing to forfeit $400k just like that without fighting it on appeal up to the US Supreme Court if he was not guilty of a crime? But the nomenclature does matter sha. If it is a civil forfeiture, the nature of the activities which produced the illicit proceeds does not or will not matter to a judge. The most important thing is that it has been adjudged by a US Court to be a Civil forfeiture. That is why law is about logic and reasoning. Well done. I hope it was included in LP written address sha? |
BERNIMOORE:It is nice that you know the effect of the difference between a case struck out after the court considered the merit and that struck out just because it was withdrawn by the plaintiff. Well done. |
It is an NCBF - Non-Conviction-based Forfeiture. It is an action in rem, not in personam. It was an action against Tinubu's property, not Tinubu himself. So maybe there is nothing to really appeal against from Tinubu's standpoint. Appealing against it may have angered the Justice Department and FBI to pursue criminal charges (if they found probable cause, which will involve them empaneling a grand jury). So Tinubu just decided to forget about it since the only thing he lost was money. That is just my opinion though |
OfficialAPCNig:Do you know the difference between "of persuasive authority and binding authority" ? You sef. Abeg lemme ooo. I no fit dey teach you law for nairaland. |
EtinosaDLaw:Smile, you cannot defeat Yorubas in anything in Nigeria. We are an all rounder tribe. With regard to your assertion that yorubas hate anybody, much less the igbos, i would say they are just responding in kind to the bile directed their way by Igbos, especially. I am yoruba myself and i got worried with the raw display of tribalism from supposed educated and fellow yoruba friends and colleagues. But there is nothing i can do about it. We have bad eggs in every tribe. My appeal to you is not to take anything you encounter on a faceless/anonymous internet forum as a depiction or representation of a tribe of almost 50 million. What if APC is paying bots to act like Yorubas online? Abeg, let us face our individual issues in real life jaree. Nairaland is just a place to come offload our frustrations and be the worst of ourselves. |
OfficialAPCNig:SMH. You are not talking to lay person ooo. I practice law for a living. I wont argue with you on the registration issue. Let the courts make a determination on the issue. |
wise0ne:I will do that tomorrow or sunday. I need to reach the logical conclusion of this epic legal battle. |
Newton2024:Taaaa, comot there. Without strong institutions rooted in the rule of law, Tinubu will chew and spit out Obi in any city in the world. Tinubu no be Obi mate at all. Obi is a very soft and small man to Tinubu. |
OfficialAPCNig:Ok, i just know say 7-something dey inside. That is why i said almost 800k. Thanks for the correction. |
OfficialAPCNig:If you dont enforce it, how will it be recognised as a judgment in Nigeria? Do you know the reason for that legislation? The reason is that there are some convictions that would not pass legal muster in a Nigerian Court but may pass in other jurisdictions due to prosecutorial misconduct, racism, nepotism and injustice. Nigerian Courts have to go through foreign judgments with a fine toothcomb to ensure that our own courts can hand down those kind of judgments when they apply our laws to the facts of specific cases. So, my brother, you have to register the judgment (which will first go through Nigerian legal proceedings in the form of an application before our court) for it to be acknowledged as extant and binding in 9ja. |
wise0ne:What happened to LP's copy of all the Form EC8As? That is why we former Obidients were worried about the lack of LP polling agents in the almost 800k PUs across the length and breath of Nigeria. I guess this is what APC and their minions meant when they said LP doesnt have "structure"? |
OfficialAPCNig:Ok, i go read am tomorrow afternoon. Thanks. |
Person go just dey read Court documents like say dem dey pay person for review of documents. See what how archaic laws and INEC has caused ![]() |
Akwamkpuruamu:Did they talk about the non-registration of the US judgment in Nigeria as stipulated in the Registration of Judgment (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act? I dey wait abeg. |
Newton2024:Did they address the issue of the unappealed Federal High Court judgment that said that INEC has the discretion for mode of transmit/transfer of election results? I have not read the written address up to that point, so please help a brother. The preliminary arguments in that written address just put me off. I am a stickler for excellent prose and logical coherence in court filings. |
Lovelive:I have a link to it but it is not luminous and engaging enough for me to read it up in one sitting. I have other things to do like read up for my pending cases. I will read it later. But i know they have not been able to rebut the superior arguments on recondite issues of law laid out in Olanipekun's address. I will go back to it on my free time, maybe tomorrow afternoon. |
Putinofrussia:Why should i post it? What will that prove? I have read excerpts of the written address and it is below the expected standards for the much vaunted legal luminaries representing Peter Obi. These are the present "creme-de-la-creme" of the Eastern legal firmament ooo. They did not cover themselves in glory with that written address. That is my main argument. |
Lovelive:As at late last year, i was willing to join them pro bono ooo. But when the list of lawyers came out, the composition of the legal team made it look like an Igbo venture. Now see what they have come up with? Even much more younger lawyers in the Southwest will not file that kind of brief. And Ikpeazu SAN's name was listed among those who settled the written address ooo. I am not sure of what to make of that. I am sure it is Dr. Livvy Uzokwu's office that drafted that brief. He is always looking so mean while he has not proved his mettle. No be to dey frown face be the koko, does your work speak for itself and can you work in a team? It is obvious that Tinubu's team of lawyers (Ably led by Wole Olanipekun SAN) worked collaboratively to settle that wonderful address. We have wonderful lawyers in that team like Prof Kanyinsola Ajayi SAN, Supo Shashore (SAN), Kemi Pinheiro and a plethora of other fine Lagos lawyers. I know the quality of the work usually done by these guys cos i have participated in plenty litigation against them in the commercial practice area in lagos. They are indebted to Tinubu in one way or the other so they will do their best for Tinubu. Dem don kill Obi for this case walahi. Make August reach for the Court to hand down its decision abeg. |
Lovelive:You sef know say na error. I no get time to dey correct am as it is not a court filing signed by me. Na discuss we dey discuss for here ooo. If i were to file a court document, i will sure be thorough enough to check for spelling mistakes. Obi's lawyers did not care to do that. |
Newton2024:To each his own. I hope you are enjoying the discourse on my thread so far? Na the koko be dat. We all have to educate ourselves. |
....
