Controversy: Who be that mumu woman with her big mouth open answering call inside church?
There is another woman behind her with no-so-large mouth doing the same. Apparently, it is the norm. I remember seeing a Nigerian teacher speaking on the phone while her students looked on. It was on BBC.

futurewise11: any idea of line to use in germany for my bbm,its being useless since i arrived
Vodafon is ok. Go to a vodafon shop and speak to an adviser and they will sort you out. You €10/month for bbm, but you pay higher for the 1st month as you will get the SIM card. The lowest top-up voucher for vodafone is €15 though.

Don't forget to get a lycamobile SIM. They come handy when you need to call africa.
Christianity EtcRe: Has Religion Failed Nigeria At 53 Years? For And Against by philoe: 3:24pm On Oct 01, 2013
With all our Religion, we can not even show mercy.

Where I live, they don't all troop out on Sundays, bible in hand.
Neither do they believe there is a supreme deity in heaven who punishes evil.

But you know what? They are capable of showing mercy and compassion.
They give aid to the less privileged. They clothe the naked.
They hold the human life at so high esteem that they find it odd to stone and kill the thief.

My people are so religious that we disregard the laws of the Book.
It is not odd to mob and kill a common thief on our way from Sunday service.
Corruption is our second name.

Our belief in God is a flight of reality. We only act it just because it is trendy to do so.

He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husbands’ houses.
One would expect these women on a prawl for meal ticket should first find husbands before asking for help to purchase "mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband's houses"
EducationRe: Nigerian University That Deserves To Be Among World's Top 100 Universities? by philoe: 10:16am On Sep 19, 2013
Each time this question is asked, we all tend to present the university we finished from as the best. But the truth is that these bests are not even good when compared with universities in other continents. Nigerian universities lack standard which is why countries like ghana have become a destination for people seeking better education.

We don't deserve to be among the best because we are not. In research, we are no star in the academic firmament. While researcher in Oxford are developing cutting edge technologies our researchers like Moris Iwu are developing fake cure for ebola.

ogri1391: congrats to all on admission @ Hatfield. It aint that expensive tho. Even Unis further up north are as expensive as stuff in hatfield oo. but no worries, u all will have a good time...
Thanks bro. I'm considering getting accommodation in Luton and drive to school/ placements. I'm married and wify is expecting next month, so I will have to find a part time job so as to meet up expenses. My course is fully funded by NHS, but the bursary may not be enough to sustain us.

abbakacici: Please any one in hertfordshire or going there
Yeah, I will be studying Mental Health Nursing in the above university in January. I have also been to the university for admission interview. It's not too bad. I find Hatfield expensive though, thanks to its proximity to London. In retrospect, I wish I had applied to a university further North of England.
TravelAlternative To Staying In Hertfordshire? by philoe(op): 8:32am On Jan 08, 2013
Hello house,

I am starting a degree in mental health nurisng in hertfordshire university in september. As housing is expensive because of proximity to london, does anyone know a town not more than 30 miles from hatfield where I can live and commute to school? I just got married and will be looking at a two bedroom flat. I currently stay in germany and don't know a lot about areas outside of london.

Are there nursing students in the house? What are the chances of working whilst studying. I am entitled to busary and my tuition is free. However, I will need to work to provide for my family.

Imputs will be appreciated!

Hello guy, I am a dual citizen on Nigeria and UK. I want my wife to join me here but I'm in a fixed- I just realized she needs to take and pass an approved English test. The problem now is: what tests are available in Nigeria and what where can she register and take such exam? She is a HND holder in statistics. Will that exempt her from the test. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenyan Woman Named Her new-born Twins Barack Obama And Mitt Romney! by philoe: 4:54am On Nov 09, 2012
A young Kenyan mother has named her newborn twin sons after the U.S. president-elect and his defeated Republican challenger.

Millicent Owuor, 20, gave birth to Barack Obama and Mitt Romney on Wednesday at the Siaya District Hospital in southwest Kenya, according to the Standard.

Owuor told the Kenyan news outlet her sons' names will always remind her of the election in the United States, reports The Sideshow.

The hospital is near the village of Kogelo, where where President Barack Obama's father was born and where his 90-year-old stepgrandmother, Sarah Obama, resides.

Jubilant residents in Kogelo cheered Obama's victory as results from the United States were reported.

Shouts of "Hail our Kogelo son" and "Obama is coming, open the road for him" rang through the air as locals blew vuvuzela horns in celebration, the Standard reports.

"If Obama did not win, I believe most projects here would stall," Joseph Onyango told the Kenyan media outlet.

Kenyans hope Obama's re-election will harken a fresh start for a U.S. relationship with Kenya, Reuters reports.

Obama visited sub-Saharan Africa just once during his first four years as president—a stop of less than a day in Ghana, according to Reuters.

If Obama does visit Kenya, maybe baby Barack can meet his namesake and baby Mitt meet the U.S. president.

There's no word yet if there have been twins named Joe Biden and Paul Ryan.

That someone is his right senses would condone such excesses by men in uniform is sad.

Ever heard of the world DISCIPLINE? That is what the armed forces should stand for. I am in the military in a civilized country and I can tell you that we are expected to live above board, even when not in uniform and nobody knows who we are. For a Colonel to drive on a dedicated BRT line is gross. And don't even tell me he is your hero; I'm not even a Sergeant but I know I have seen more military action than he will ever see in his lifetime.
TravelRe: Are Nigerian Student Visa Applications To UK Mostly Bogus? by philoe(op): 8:08pm On Jul 17, 2012
my advice to any prospective student out there who wants to travel to the UK on a student visa is to be careful- make sure you prepare for the interview that will come. it's easy to say "no be English them wan yarn ". in reality, it is not uncommon for a person coming to the UK for the first to have difficulty understanding the English accent.

Third of foreign student visas 'lack credibility', survey finds

A third of visas handed to overseas students should never have been issued with up to 70,000 foreign undergraduates applications "lacking credibility", a government survey has found.

A sixth of those applying as university undergraduates and two-thirds of those at private colleges were considered to have suspicious applications

An intention to remain in Britain, failure to speak any English and no desire to complete their degree were given as the top three reasons given to Home Office investigators.
Three out of five visas given to students from India and Nigeria were found to “lack credibility”, the study found.
The survey is part of a crackdown on student visas that have for many years been abused with paperwork being the sole criteria for applications rather than face-to-face interviews.

TravelSettlement Or Work Visa? by philoe(op): 9:06pm On Jul 16, 2012
I have a little problem here and wonder if any pros can offer a solution.

I am a member of the British armed forces and a Nigerian/British citizen. I intend to invite my new wife (Brand New smiley) from Nigeria to join me here in the UK. Problem is, the family of British citizens and settled persons visa application fees are outrageous! £826. Can I apply for the work category visa as it is much cheaper?

Any helpful imputes will be greatly appreciated.

Problem is that to qualify for stipend, I have got to study full time. The course is evenly split between time in the classroom and the hospital hence, intensive. I have asked that my entry be deferred to September next year to enable me save up from my present employment and make up my mind. However, it doesn't appear that making a decision is going to be an easy task.

Hello guys, advice needed.

I am a Nigerian and also a naturalized citizen of the United Kingdom who is presently employed in the UK. My salary in my present job is about 25,000/ year (before tax). However, I don't have much job satisfaction in my present employment. I recently applied to study mental nursing in one of the UK universities and have been offered a place.

My question is this; Do you (especially those in similar professions) think it's worth spending 2.5 years in the Uni for this program? Should I leave my present employment in pursuit another degree?

Note: This program is fully funded by the NHS and I qualify to receive monthly stipends which is a far cry from the amount I earn at the moment.
