I have met some Nigerians here who have lived here for over 10 years and have not visited home for once, while I have a different view of this, I hardly blame them...The main reasons they escaped Nigeria is still there, these countries are not as rich as Delta State or Bayelsa even, but they put their citizens first, they have very good welfare systems for everyone, that sometimes I wonder how I was created a Nigerian. Elections are coming oh, make una use una mentus oh, if not, na another 4years of penury. I was just driving around and got very angry why Nigeria cannot be the best place on earth with all we have....I swear, the moment Naija has a good leader, more than half of the diasporan community will come back home with their expertise to join forces with a dynamic leader.....

For now, we are watching from the sidelines of a saner clime

Zlatan
You make brain, this country has 70% forest coverage and they use that to develop their energy, they have deliberate system to turn wastes into energy, you even make money from waste because almost all the malls here receive plastic wastes in exchange for money, I. E your used beer cans, and other canned drinks are called Pantti, you don't just throw it away anyhow, all these are recycled and people sell this little things to make cool money, yesterday I was at LIDL to refill my kitchen, i saw different people, blacks and even citizens here carry big bags of pantti to be sold, I just wept for naija, if lagos and Ibadan can have such a system like this in place alone to cater for recycling waste, naija would be better than all these European giants.
I pray one day we would get it right.

Nice work Zlatan,we had a nice little talk, and to add my voice to this great thread ,you just gotta remain positive in this country and lots of doors would open for you. These guys are interested in what you can do not in the color of your skin most of the time ,though I can boldly say that learning the language might brighten your chances more, lots of opportunities remain untapped, opportunities keeps opening each day ,you just have to look in the right places and associate with positive minded people.
I would suggest that peeps that are in Finland already should update the thread about opportunities in their region. We can work togeda to achieve greater good. Organisations like Foodera, wolt, iss employ people in some regions here.
You can't regret coming to this country ,despite the weather, the language barrier and their social life, you go dae alright laslas

You will definitely miss some things from Naija while here, it could be the very little or basic things like getting a nice hair cut, having a proper social life, food, English language, especially if you find yourself outside these cities: Helsinki, Tampere, Espoo, maybe Jyväskylä and Vaasa....So you gaz improvise a lot, for example, I learned to barb my hair by myself because of absence of black barbers, I nor fit pay 50 euro make one oyibo girl use my hair take train na angry sometimes swallow go dey hungry me, grin na potato I dey ground then turn am to eba one kind, then use my draw soup take follow up....Never understimate these small things oh, it is why USA, Canada, UK, Australia that have tens of thousands of black people have the advantage over the Nordics....but we gaz start from somewhere...abi?

well, I have to make an honest contribution to dis post since there are sincere people here who need it.

over d years i hustled for scholarships on the internet and there are a thousand and one of them.I could not get any of dem cos I'm a HND holder so I had to go back to school for a bsc.

however, some of the scholarship programmes i was following require dat u pay part payment while for some, u dont pay a dine.some examples of the fully funded scholarships are MOFCOM, STIPENDUM HUNGARICUM, CGS, KGSP, AUSTRALIA AWARDS AFRICA, NFP (u can Google dem for more details). There are still many others anyway.check out sites like afterschoolafrica, scholars4dev for more scholarships.

that's for those who want to travel through school sha.

fast forward to my relationship with an American. to cut d long story short, she sent me an invitation, i gathered all I needed for the B2 visa interview (I did not go through any agent to apply for anything. I used my small Tenco W2 to do EVERYTHING.so u dnt need to waste ur money cos u dey apply for visa.na unnecessary lack of confidence dey make people fall mugu to agents) paid d normal 64k at GTB, booked my visa interview online.

Jan 9,2018 my interview date
got to d U.S embassy in Abuja.ppl jst litter d street, no b crowd sha.

the hustlers rushed immediately i stepped out of my taxi seeking to see d documents i came with (obviously to tell me bros dis one is wrong oh! u have to reprint dis one in coloured dis n dat) but because i had read oda people's experiences on nairaland,i simply told dem,I'm nt showing u,free me,I'm ok.I really did my homework well.

#note, for doz of u going for interview, print ur documents in black n white, even ur DS-160 dnt let doz hustlers deceive u n collect unnecessary money to reprint it in coloured. u will regret spending dt money afterwards.

every 30 mins a uniformed guy would come and announce d time.of course u must hv selected d time fr ur interview online while scheduling d appointment. so every 30 mins more people were escorted to d embassy kpom kwem.

nwanne, as we reach, com see queue! people wey go since d last one hour still dey queue. but d queue was just to confirm ur appointment, check if u hv d necessary documents. from there we entered d first screening room, removed belt, wallet, shoe, everything! gush! do i have to tell all dis long story?

fast forward to d interview in fact(after several screening, fingerprinting, submission of passport photo, joining another queue etc)

VO: please submit ur passport tru d opening
Me:complied

VO: have u travelled out of the country before?
ME: replied

VO: why do u want to travel to STATE NAME
ME: vacation to spend my annual leave

VO:So so person is ur friend
Me:Yes

VO:have you met her in person before
Me: replied

VO: how did you meet?
ME:replied

VO: sorry you do not qualify for a U.S visa at this time.

na so my 64k ,stress and other expenses go o!

but the truth is: even chieftaincy titled men wey com dat day, nothing for dem! even uniformed men with good jobs and heavy bank accounts, nothing! even janded looking people who have traveled to several European countries and other developed countries, nothing for them! doz consuls at the U.S embassy no dey see you sef!
infact some interviews lasted less dan 45secs (I'm not exaggerating).you go dey for queue inside d hall dey c am for yourself.

why am I saying this? the answer is: please keep dat ur hard earned 64k dt u r about to use for B2 visa application cos U.S embassy in naija no dey give naija people B2 visa easily.

even if you are sincere in ur mission, dem no go give u.na Trump cause am.

instead explore the schooling path or K1/CR1 visa.those ones are sharp sharp so far you do your home well.by the grace of God, myself and my fiancé have started our K1 visa process.

I wish you all the best.if you ha e a y question i can answer feel free to ask it here I'll answer you.
Wish u the best

Hi all, do I need to have four year tuition ready in my bank account if I plan on applying for an undergraduate Finland visa?
Have you gotten admissionhuh If yes ? ? Which school huh If No, get admission first.

After getting admission u would need tuition fee for your first year plus your living expenses for your first in your bank account to apply for your first resident permit.
Lets say tuition for d sch that gave you admission is 10,000euros per session, and there no scholarship for u in dt school, you would be needing 16,720 euros(tuition fee :10,000+ 6720(living expenses) in your bank account for your resident permit .
And you would need viable means of support to support the funds in your account

Good day all,
I want to know if anyone during the RP interview was asked to proof their relationship with their said sponsor?

I want to apply for the RP but my sponsor is in no way related to me but I will like to present him as my uncle, I am just afraid I could be asked to proof the relationship.

Please any help/ ideas

À Sponsors letter written by your sponsor would explain your ties with him/her,and you would be required to fill same on ur interview date. Both info must be coherently the same. Guess bosses here can tell u more
Please this is urgent.

How soon can one re-apply if one is denied a residence permit on the account that ur sponsor didn’t show enough evidence that they could sponsor u...and what is the best way to sort this out...?
When did you go for interview ?

Just critically look at d decision very well and see what went wrong, look at what migri said in their decision in relation to your sponsor, take your time to correct all the wrongs and reapply with possibly à new sponsor with à better source of income. And most importantly, be aware of when u can resume for studies, either its January or August/September.

For those awaiting, i pray you shall receive positive news this new week.

This is the news on migri website

4.10.2017
Decisions made on applications for residence permits for studies beginning in autumn
The majority of residence permit applications for studies starting in the autumn have been processed. From 1 January to 30 September 2017, a total of 4,435 decisions have been made for students who applied for their first residence permit. Approximately 91 per cent of the decisions were positive. The reason for negative decisions was usually the student having unclear means of support.

The number also includes some applications submitted in December 2016 that were decided on in 2017. So far this year, the Finnish Immigration Service has received a total of 4,355 applications.

At the moment, we are able to start processing students’ applications almost immediately after the applications have arrived at the Finnish Immigration Service. If you applied for a residence permit for studies more than a month ago and still have not received a decision, you should wait a little longer. You will receive the decision within the next few weeks. Approximately 100 applications are still waiting to be processed.
