My prince came on the 21 of September, the date scan gave me,weighing 3.5kg.Them tear me,thought I would escape it .The pains no be here o.We just got back home. I wish all my teamies swift and smooth delivery too. BS later later o,bc my jajaina is still very painful.

I am happy reading all these easy and no stress entry at JFK, I pray I have a smooth entry too on Monday. @ nefertitiram pls how was journey with Arik, I will be flying with them on Sunday I want to have an idea of what to expect. Thanks

I intend using University of Maryland St Joseph Medical Center, the cost is on their website. The Dr name is Dr Tolani you can also get her address there, but the thing is both the hospital and the doctor's office won't give you any correspondence on phone or thru email. I was there in March so I registered with them and got my appointment card too. That Dr doesn't take much patients and she gets filled up quickly also she won't take you if you are already 33 weeks.

In obodo Oyinbo they have tests according to d gestational age.

And some of these tests cannot even be done here in naija.
There's urinalysis test strip, dey dip in urine usually just Sorts alot. And every clinic visit they do urinalysis at least for Dr E. Which is part of ur bill tho.
Ogtt is extreme Abeg lol. Glucose in urine which wld be seen in urinalysis. Or fbs ( which can be done first thing in morning.

My point is there are basic tests for pregnant women.
Which is hepatitis HIV syphilis (stds generally) genotype, blood group, PCV. Nd may be TORCHES
These are basic tests. ( I hope I'm not missing anyone out)

Importantly I doubt a teaching Hospital will wanna carry out that list of tests. What's the indication for the tests?
And if u say d Hospital requested, I'm sure they'll wanna see a letter.

When I travelled I did just the above and didn't do any extra test except Dr's E compulsory tests she does at 36 weeks.


BUT like nairaland culture alot is better than less.

Hello firsttymum, pls I need your help. I registered for antenatal in a teaching hospital here and so far the only tests I have done are HIV, blood group and genotype. I am 30 weeks and will be traveling in the next two weeks, the Dr I will be using in Maryland is ready to accept my naija tests. Please are there other necessary tests that are required in the US so that I can do them here to cut cost. I asked my Dr here he said those that I have done are the important ones. Please help me.

like I said last year... These people are the most disorganized people when it comes to billing. They take almost two weeks or more before they send ur bill and then still send an outstanding? It's crazy...

Present my able captain, we are 19 weeks plus but scan is showing 21 weeks apparently baby is growing bigger than his age. Yes we are team blue FiyinfunJah(Give praise to Jehovah) is a boy.
I don't really feel his kicks because the placenta is in anterior position.
In all it that been a wonderful and stress-free journey so far, we give praise to Jehovah.
May Jehovah continue to be with us all and make the journey even more easier for us.

Don't know if laridox is safe in pregnancy. Why not cc mama Zaynie, nurse kaffy, and other experienced and sabi mamas to tourchlight your issue. Sometimes lots of questions are asked by many members and one or two can get mistakenly ignored. The best way to guard against this is to mention people who feel can help answer.

Thank you so much Nurse kaffy4bill, I don't know if what I feel is the baby kicks or not, I will just hold on for now and continue with the paracetamol anytime I have headache.

If yes, then u can take it, if no,pls hold on a lil to feel quickening before taking it

Mamas pls I asked yesterday if Laridox is safe but nobody answered, e jo o I still dey wait for answer. If the place you are talking about is close to unical second gate abi na small gate dem dey call am,the name is standard, I tell you the man there is one of the best in calabar. Don't be discouraged by environment, most Drs even teaching hospital will tell you to go there. And the crowd there my dear no be small thing. Anytime I need to do scan I go there very early and pick number even before the Dr arrive. I have tried other scanning centers with better and cleaner environment but I didn't like their services or maybe its because I was comparing it with this one.

I thought I was the only calabar mama here o.My dear that area sef they fear me.Its possible because of the army women that live in iburutu barracks.My Dr directed me to one scanning center like that off etta agbor,my dear wen I enter the place ehn see the way the place dey and the way environment dey nobody told me to carry my 2left leg comot.The environment wasn't neat,patients just Sidon like pensioners wey wan go collect dia pension.

Mamas that were looking for shopping list guide, here is it. This should guide you in addition to your hospital list that you will be given.
Body suits - (George which is a set of 3 was 3500naira , Carter which is 5 in 1 also 3500naira. .You can find it in OK markets too...grade one Ok.

2. Sleep suits- (A set of 3 in 1 too was 3500naira -4000naira . You can also find in Ok markets if you have one near you.

3. Bath- foreign bath (10k-15k depending on the type you want; Nigerian made - smallest grade 2500naira, higher grade- 5500naira

4. Baby net and foam- smaller grade 4k, foreign 6K

5.flannel - a set is 2500naira

6. Receiving blanket - different grades ranging 4k- 6K

7. Shawl- different grades too, 2k, 3k, 4k and even 5k. The better the feel, the higher the amt

8. Drier ( hanger)- Nigerian made metal ranges 4-6k , plastic 6k -8k, ;foreign 10k- 20k.

9. Cupboard or wardrobe - Nigerian made (black horse)5steps is 8500naira, 4steps is 7000naira . Foreign is 30k and above

Breast pump - manual Tommy tippee 7k, electric 21k

Mamas on restricted budget like me, find the nearest OK markets and pick some of your babies wears like cover all's, socks, caps etc. Wash, put in dettol, iron and pack. You are good to go....

Good to know there's another calabar mama in the house, my friend told me about a place at Army junction that they do scan for 1500 but I don't trust them enough to go there.

Just keep up the ginger and try to follow up with your teamies questions or updates, that way you can bond better.
