Barrytone: Good morning great minds, I got debit alert from my union bank account. Realise its for debit card, charge for the card, charged for card maintenance and charged VAT for both items. During this period I have been isolated due to covid 19 as a requirement. Never requested for card as I don't need a card for that account. Since am not around to go confront them, being trying to use their online help lines to address the issue since 20th of may but yielded no result as the handlers both messenger and WhatsApp is telling me I have to accept the deduction and go get my card. I don't need a card, my question is, is it Mandatory to own a debit card now in Nigeria? If not please kindly advise how to address the fraud now that its just few thousand before they remove millions because as it stands am sharing the account with Union bank that they could unilaterally take any amount at anytime from the account. Thanks. Access Bank has been deducting N53.75 monthly for card maintenance i did not apply for cause i don't need it for now and they have been disturbing me with calls for pick up. |

unite4real: There is no room for automatic compounding. Anytime your rent is paid, you must put your brain to use again.
There are many brokers. U have Morgan capital, Afrinvest. This one's can relate with u online without visiting their offices. There are others too but these I have tried. Thanks once again. I'm within Lagos and i intend visiting stanbic festac branch once my cscs account is open. How long will it take Morgan Capital to do that? |

unite4real: This is the third time government is selling sukuk in Nigeria. The person you met may not be aware and is mistaken it for FGN bond. Why don't you go with the printed offer. One person will pass it around and before you know it, you are sorted out. Which state and branch did u visit.
Do u have a cscs number already. If u don't, go get one first and it's not Stanbic IBTC bank that will do that but stock brokers.
If you already have, the just fill the sukuk form, go to same Stanbic and pay into the account for sukuk as advertised.
Take your form and evidence of payment and walk out of Stanbic if they cannot help. Take them to either FBN Quest Merchant Bank or Lotus Financial services LTD. Give it to them and go home. Wait after 6 months and receive your first rent in December. Ohhh, thank you sir. I think i am the one that is not getting it right. I was thinking it is the same stanbic that will give me the CSCS number just like they did in MMF. So which stockbroker is best to get the number from and is it free ? I really need to forget some money for 7 years in this bond. Is there room for automatic compounding ? |

emmanuelewumi: The unit price of the most expensive thing sold by Dangote is about N3000, but the revenue made is in hundreds of billions.
When MTN and Econet now Airtel came to Nigeria, the lowest card by MTN was N1500, while the lowest card by Airtel was N1000.
Glo came and disrupted everything, which made them to crash the lowest card to N100.
From the minimum card of N100, MTN made a total revenue of over N1 Trillion from both voice and data in 2019.
A lot of people are poor, any product that will satisfy the needs of the poor will definitely produce money.
Check out the volume of transactions that will take place in Nigeria, if some Chinese Investors come to Nigeria to build a minimum of 200,000 housing units at an average cost of less than N5 million. They have access to cheap finance, manpower and raw materials The bolded hit me like a bomb. Thank you sir. |

ahiboilandgas: chaii...everbody must not be in Lagos ....i see woman that are not indigenous to Lagos selling items less than 10k as capital , i wonder why all this stress when u can move to enugu and be in old park or ogui road selling same at same price with less stress and cost of accommodation....i cup of ogogoro of 30 naira will be same 30 naira in enugu....i think over 5 million dont have any jusification to add to the burden of Lagos Saw a little girl resting under the bridge around Mile 2 after hawking pure water under the sun. I was in a bus on traffic and called her to get one. I asked her, what is the total startup and profit for the day, she said 1,600. I just gave her the 1600 to go home as rest for that day. Not really easy for some in Lagos. |

DigitalMallam: I'm amazed with the way you see and painted Nigeria. Sorry to say, your likes are bad avert to this country. All what you ever know about your country is all negative. As has been aptly put by some analysts on this thread, no nation has it all. Your type will be the one to evade tax at all cost here in Nigeria but will comply in US, simply for fear of deportation. And when they prove to you that you're an alein, you begin to shout westerners are racist. Let me tell you the truth, you are an African and no matter how hard you tried to sell your birthright and dignity for a plate of porridge when the ships are down, you will be told the truth just as Trumps is doing right now. You're even saddened that covid-19 death have not littered our streets with your unfounded hypothesis. I know you weren't born in the US, why haven't you died long ago before you secure visa to travel abroad since you claim we know nothing about medicine. Where I work in Nigeria, we usually have this expatriate exchange program, westerners that visited Nigeria confessed during one of the valedictory gatherings, that Oyinbo people that ever visited Nigeria usually cry twice FIRST, when they are told they will be visiting Nigeria (because of the many negative things that is being circulated in the west, buttressed with unpatriotic elements like you) so they believe they are coming to live in hell. SECONDLY, when they come here and experience the opposite and began to enjoy life like never before (good and stable weather round the year, low tax, friendly people, respect etc) and suddenly the tenure expires and told to go back home. Thinking of what they will be missing, they begin to cry again. When I visited Europe, most of my colleagues couldn't afford to buy or drive a car, they were all going on bicycle. You will do side hussle investment TB, bond etc in Nigeria without any form of taxation. Opportunities abounds everywhere and that is not enough to cast your own to the dustbin Nice one sir, but the citizens are not to be bashed sometimes at the bolded but our bad leaders and failed security system, e.g Niger Delta constant kidnapping then and the Chibok girls that gained world attention. |

Health › Re: UNICEF Warns Lockdown Could Kill More Than COVID-19 by Phyde: 10:19am On May 17, 2020 |
mvem: Oga no economy in the world can sustain a lockdown indefinitely. Why is US easing up despite their numbers being the highest in the world, because they are tired. Millions are losing their jobs, bankruptcy, poverty rate all will increase and this has an indirect relationship to even the populace health. At the end the lockdown will have a negative effect which UNICEF highlighted in the article. Africa is even worse,we just copied and pasted what the Europeans were doing without paying attention to societal differences. Look at the Swedish model that is looking viable, they had no lockdown but found ways to mitigate the virus. The point is they should have been a logical approach to find a buffer. Mitigate the virus spread but at same time make sure that the populace can still earn, feed, seek healthcare etc....WHO predicted that malaria,TB,HIV etc will kill more than twice of what it kills it Africa because of the direct and indirect effect of the lockdown. Why?...because health workers are not longer in the hospitals, private clinics are closed, NGO have run short of funding, Poverty rate increases and the common man won't be able to get treatment, drug, surgery etc for his common ailment etc etc...look at the bigger picture. Do you know how many that had to stop cancer treatment, postpone surgeries because of this lockdown No logical approach at this time can work in Nigeria because we are communal, socialise and stubborn in nature. Social distancing is not working which i have seen in most of our markets, banks and buses, not everyone are wearing the fask and most of the mask are just for fashion and less preventive. I hope we won't get to a point where health officials will totally suspend all operations cause they human with families too who need support from citizens like us. It looks like we are at the Mecy of God and our Immune system cause we are pesently in a confused state logically. |

The truth is that everybody is confused. We don't know what to do again. Stay indoors will lead to mass hunger. Easing lockdown will still lead to mass virus spread and our health officials will be overwhelmed rejecting patients without covid cause of fear. Our health officials have families too who depend on them. Some are breadwinners. The only solution am still thinking is Stay indoor with mass palliatives from the government. All the recovered stolen funds should be channel to the streets for food. Suspend all road infrastructures for now. Foods should be the urgent matter now if they are planning another lockdown. All these shall pass |
