The Senate Unity Forum on Wednesday said it
had not withdrawn a suit it instituted seeking the
removal of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki
and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, for allegedly
forging the Senate Standing Order.
The forum, comprising of senators who rooted for
the election of Ahmed Lawan as senate president,
had instituted the suit challenging the election of
Messrs. Saraki and Ekweremadu on June 9.
They alleged that the duo forged the rules of the
senate to facilitate their emergence as president
and deputy president of the upper legislative
chamber.
There were, however, reports on Tuesday that
Ademola Adeniyi, the judge of the Federal High
Court struck out the case and also terminated
further hearing on the matter follow its
withdrawal by the forum.
Mamman Osuman, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria
and counsel to the forum, in a statement
Wednesday described the reports as “erroneous
and mischievous”.
He said the withdrawn case was suit no: FHC/ABJ/
CS/647/2015, dated July 24, which also
challenged “the purported elections of Saraki and
Ekweremadu” and which was filed by Anthony
Adeniyi, a former senator.
Mr. Osuman noted that “oblivious of the existence
of the above particularised suit, he, having been
briefed, filed yet, another civil suit in court with
an originating summons: FHC/ABJ/CS/651/2015.
He said the second suit was filed by serving
senators, including Suleiman Hunkuyi, Kabir
Marafa, Abu Ibrahim, Robert Boroffice and
Gbenga Ashafa.
He explained that the two suits are different in
contents as could be distilled from their
respective grounds, reliefs sought, affidavit
evidence, parties and declarations sought.
“Despite the legal possibility that the suit
discontinued could be re-filed, the media should
have been more specific about the case
withdrawn…” Mr. Osuman said.
“Contrary to the misinformation put out there, we
hereby confirm that the originating summons in
suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/651/2015 filed at the
instance of the above-named Senators against
Saraki, Ekweremadu and the National Assembly.”
Mr. Osuman stated that the prayers sought in the
originating summons still persists; namely that
the elections which brought Saraki and
Ekweremadu are “illegal, irregular and non-
sustainable because the Senate Standing Orders
(2011) was not amended in the manner
stipulated by Rules 110 of the 2011 Senate
Standing Orders to produce the purported
document titled: Senate Standing Orders 2015
(as amended)”.

I voted for Buhari against yaraduain 2007, I voted for him in 2011. Then I know he wouldn't win but I would still vote for him. I don't support APC, I support Buhari.

My only fear for Buhari this time was that the like of Tinibu and Amerchi would influence him. But Buhari didn't disappoint me.

Whether it's from Osinbajo or not, are they not in the same party? For the same office of the president? The same manifesto? Why was Mr. VP not cautioned and why did liar Mohammed not immediately correct such a promise? Biko don't bring that foolishness on NL. Like many, I knew these promises were far from being achievable and 100 days is too short to perform miracles, but in all honesty, let them own up to their gaffe. They really fuckkked up and they should apologize to Nigerians.

You didn't voted/supported Buhari why are you complaining?
As for me, I didn't support APC, but Buhari. And I am pleased with his work so far.

During rallies, while others were promising heaven and earth, I notices that Buhari usually makes the shortest speech. He saying 3 things: Fight corruption, tackle insecurity and Employment.

I didn't just say northern chairman, I say popular northern chairman. Truth is I don't think they can find that. So they would need a chairman with ideas of a genius.

I think one of the ideas should be to make their supporters stop alienating tribes in APC dominating areas.

I understand you. But I think a chairman that can bring votes is what a political party needs, than competence. What PDP needs now is to win back the confidence of the west and the north most importantly. A popular Northern chairman can do that. In Nigeria politics, ethnic sentiments plays an important role.

What i know is that in any good family the father always listen to his children and attends to their needs equally but a bad father (BUHARI) always have favourite and treat the one he hate scornfully but at the end the rejected stone is always the pillar of the house. this rejection from buhari will make us igbos work harder on our own and keep being successful as people. The Benin system of selecting Kings is different from that of major nigerian kingdoms. Unlike In Yoruba and hausaland were Governors pick the King, in the Benin the first Son of the Oba is the King. When Britain removed Oba Ovuoramen, they couldn't install a new a new one. When they wanted to put back an Oba in Benin, Benin chiefs did the same thing, they went to Calabar to look for the eldest son of Oba Ovuoramen (he had children from calabar women).
