Probably applies to the short dudes, I am 6'3" and personally, I love 'em tall. Have you ever seen a tall dame with great legs in short skirts?? Nothing beats it. ![]() |
Thanks again dayokanu, I am doing some research (interesting!!) and can see that Surah is Chapter. However, I cant seem to locate anything on Bukhari, |
What a STUD!!! I wonder what time he had to do the actual preaching. Thank you thank you thank you dayokanu. At last someone who can extract stuff from the quran. Do I care for more?? Hell yeah, However, please lets overlook the sexual prowress, nuff said. Kindly extract parts that tell of the "spread the word by the sword", or "kill them all and be welcome in paradise" |
For those who care, please read this BRILLIANT article by William Rees-Mogg http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,251-2363459,00.html |
@babs787: Cant wait for you to point it out to me in the bible, You bet I will be one of the first to grab a gun and shoot anyone who insults my dear Jesus. As u claim, there are verses in the bible that preach such violence but happily, you dont see any christian on a suicide bombing mission. Why is that?, simple, such doesnt exist in the holy book!! |

@davidylan: Your response got me reeling in laughter. So much venom but I must admit, it was an interesting read. May I suggest that you keep your real identity as confidential as possible so you don't end up getting the Salman Rushdie treatment ![]() @Olabowale: I honestly expected you to be the one that will respond with chapters/verses of the quran going by your various past posts on islam. However, you thought wrong in your last reply. I wasnt in any way insinuating a possible change in religion. I just wanted you guys to be as direct as possible in defence of islam. If anyone had something specific to say about xtianity, it could always be backed up/contradicted by quotes in the bible. I am not through with reading the entire bible (and may never be) but I put it up to you that, even you are not sure of the verses to conjour in defence of the terrible claims made against islam. I am sure you know what I am talking about, e.g. What makes you face the east when you pray regardless of your position on the globe?? I can fish out a reading in the bible that says something about that, Ezekiel Chapter 8:16. (I hope we don't start a thread on this one too) @Malcom X: You may have a good point there. If everyone is left to judge the quran by his own understanding, then voila, the reason why you have some killing in the name of Allah and others not understanding why. Arent they all supposed to have a unidirectional look at the meaning of the sayings in that book? Some extremist reads the quran and by his own understanding, influences some young boys who are yet to form "their own" opinion of the religion that it is divine to kill yourself and take as many innocent souls with you in defence of islam!!! Wow, creepy. |
I would want to believe the Quran (spelling?), has quotable chapters and verses like the bible does. Dont you all think it would make an interesting task to specify the location of some of these "Muhammad sayings" that preach violence so we can have our muslim brothers clarify for us? I would specifically love to know exactly where Muhammad asked to spread the word by the sword and then have a muslim brother defend the statement. ![]() |
SORRY TO POST THIS AGAIN, BUT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OUT HERE!!! I would want to believe the Quran (spelling?), has quotable chapters and verses like the bible does. To think that when OBJ got out of prison and was "selected" to run for president, everyone was quick to compare him to Mandela. I still remember pictures of him in the papers suggesting he was the saviour Nigeria had long been waiting for. How wrong we all were. OBJ's punishment awaits him now or after his tenure but surely, there's no escape for him. For someone who had a golden 2nd chance to right the wrongs of his first stint at government, the spirits of Nigerians will haunt him down. Without doubt, its a shame to see Atiku sing like the fat lady but I see the overall picture as a blessing in disguise to Nigerians. How else would the highest and mightiest be brought to justice if not by shooting themselves in the foot. OBJ got this one totally wrong and it only goes to show he is human like everyone else. That thing called power must be a super drug. When Tafa Balogun was going through his ordeals, didnt they for once stop to think one day that could be them? Imagine the story emanating from Bayelsa too, after the dramatic downfall of Alams, its now the Goodluck's feeling the heat, after only what?, 10 months?. My heart truly bleeds for this country. Not until we have a Jerry Rawlings style cleansing process will there be true change in Nigeria. Its a shame!! |

My analysis is simple, That young man was ill advised. There was a position yearning for him at Man U after the departure of Roy Keane. He would have gotten all the play time required to achieve super stardom in no time. Take Rooney and Ronaldo for instance, These guys are always on the pitch except when injured. After a couple of competitive years at Man U, I am sure Chelsea would still have gone for him. I wish him the best like we all do but I sincerely don't see him playing more than 5 games this season (as a sub ofcourse). That squad is far too loaded with "experienced " players for Mikel to get good play time. |
Personally I am not a big fan of McDonalds but I must say its a fortune 500 brand which makes it a great investment anyday. I know how Nigerians like to associate with the "happening" brands and styles of the western world and that is the major selling point. Take Shoprite for example, its the nicest looking "mall" in Nigeria and arguably the best but not by a long shot one of the cheapest. Yet Nigerians troop to the place. I personally made contact with Mcdonalds on the issue of a franchise but the response I got was quite different from what you posted. Being a very proud brand, they required a capital base of no less than $5m to start in Nigeria. They confessed to being sceptical about business in Nigeria owing to the huge cost of doing business i.e. PHCN, Customs, etc (the whole world knows you see). Besides, they will feel safe dealing with one reliable multi-franchise owner for the region. Regardless though if anyone was able to come up with that number$$$$$, trust Nigerians to make it their number one fast food joint for some time to come. |
A better way to put this argument would have been, "At their peak periods, who is the better player". And haba, why would anyone agree it's Jay Jay? Ronaldinho plays computerised football . Okocha was no doubt a great player at his peak but it is not comparable to the kind of things Ron does with the ball these days. Even the great Maradona mentioned at a recent interview that he is sure after the world cup in Germany, Ron will be regarded as the greatest player of all time. He is simply phenomenal.Ok lets compare Dribbles: Maybe 50 - 50 here Passes or assists: Ronaldinho for sure Free Kicks: Ron Speed: Ron # of Goals: Ron Headers: Ron (never even heard of JJ scoring with his head) So what are we talking about ![]() ![]() ?? |
Its has to go down as one of the funniest things I've ever heard. It was so pleasing to see them get paid in their own coin. Imagine how painful it was to them, to the point they threaten to kill him!!!!!. They never for once thought about the feelings of those they succeeded in scamming. My younger brother knows the whole thing by heart. Its simply awesome A great example of Karma |
So what are you trying to say Nightrider If you choose to pick on Duke as a non performer, then please mention just one other governor who has done better and is worthy of this high office? And please don't mention any Tinubu here (like Ashiwaju). And if you say that development was brought to Calabar because of Nigeria 99 then fine. But has it occured to you that the only reason you can still see this development 7 years after is because of a good maintenance culture? That costs money you know!! What signs of Nigeria 99 can you see in the other states that played hosts??Give credit when it is due, |
Can we all get real please ? Politics has always been known to be a dirty game and as such there is no saint presently governing any state. Even Bush and Blair have a lot to hide but for crying out loud, these people deliver. Only in Nigeria will you have someone ammassing billions he will never finish spending before kicking the bucket, Why?? Greed.!!! No one is saying you shouldnt take a little advantage of the office to better your life and those of your dear ones (I certainly would) but be considerate about everyone else.Duke looks like the type that cares and wants to make a change, and like someone pointed out, think of him beside Bush or Blair discussing business!! |
Just finished reading the daily headlines and rushed to the forum to start a Duke for president topic. You can't imagine how pleasantly pleased I was to see it as the latest topic in the politics section. It goes to show a lot of us are thinking along thesame lines. Duke for President?? Oh my God, I am having a rush just thinking about it. This guy has been governing his state for the last 7 years and no one has heard anything negative about him. All we hear are stories about the rejuvenated beauty of Calabar streets and ofcourse the emergence of TINAPA. If only PDP would be fair enough in voting for the best, Duke has no competition. He represents the new age in governance we have all been craving for. He's got the charisma and ofcourse is well educated. He will provide an almost seamless transfer of power from the old to the young, I say let all those old bags go to hell!!!!!! I don't see any reason for Odili being shortlisted aside from the fact that he was quite close to Baba all through his tenure. I schooled in PH between '88 and '94 and compared with what the garden city was known to be back then (even though it wasnt paradise on earth), all I can say is Odili is a non-performer. Why would we want someone like that in Aso Rock? And who the hell is Attah?? My only fear with Duke is that the guy is not as aggressive as the others when it comes to fighting for this sort of nomination. He might just be bullied into conceeding to another. But if ever he is nominated for presidency, I will decamp from AD (as if I was active in the first place) and vote for that vibrant young man called Donald Duke!! He is the Rawlings we have been waiting for, God help us. |
Awesome, !!!!! ![]() |
<<mod: deleted>> <<reason: do not discourage others from posting on the forum>> |
I started this topic and its been very pleasing to read the many diverse views and opinions people hold on the issue. Someone in an earlier reply (Zahymaka I think) pointed out the fact that his best friend was a muslim, and a good one at that. My response to that is, my business partner is one of the best muslims I've ever met and his dedication to the 5 daily prayers and general demeanor is nothing but impressive. On more than one occasion, we have discussed this issue of extreme radicalism in Islam and he rightly points out that it is an issue that embarrasses him as a dedicated muslim (bad eggs he says). This forum however has helped me better understand more, not only about the diabolic Jihadists but also more about my christian faith. Replies from welborn are worthy of commendation, quite versed and educative. My first week on Nairaland has been worth it afterall. |
Has anyone heard of Christian unrests in any part of the world resulting from Dan Brown's best seller, The Da Vinci Code? The silence does not make us any less Christians and naturally, we leave all such matters for God to judge. If thesame topic were directed towards Prophet Muhammad however, Dan Brown would by now be on death row and who knows how many Buildings would have been torched and innocent people killed so far. Muslim brothers and sisters, take note! |
