Politics › Re: No Confab Report, No Nigeria, Falae Insists by Pidggin(f): 3:42am On May 31, 2016 |
freeze001: I had my reasons for asking you if you had any idea of the contents of that report. Your response here shows you don't. You see, Nigeria's first problem is her constitution. Chapter II tells of all the duties owed the citizens by the government yet prevents citizens from being able to question the failure of the government to meet these fundamental duties because the court is expressly robbed of that power.
The CONFAB effectively recommends a decentralised government with the regions responsible for their funding and development with agreed shares to the centre. The reason states are in dire straits and unable to pay salaries is that their major source of income, oil, hit the rocks due to price crashes along with kleptomaniac leaders/thieves in power from time immemorial. Now with self development which the CONFAB recommends, there will almost immediate diversification of the economy which the FG has never been successful in. This must happen because not all regions have oil...simple! Therefore they must discover and develop what they do have. Regions having to cater for themseves in smaller units will decide how many administrative units or lgas they need, no more arbitrary creation by the NASS.
The National Assembly is also recommended by the CONFAB to be on part time basis with allowances paid per sitting. This will definitely reduce the amount they control now. With six regions, there will be no need for the over bloated number of NASS members we have now and they will be paid by their regional govts to represent them at the centre.
Developmental needs will be met faster because a lot of things on the Executive list will be shed and the Central govt will mainly control external security covering the Army, Navy and Air Force, foreign/external relations, minting and printing of currency, inter state roads, railways etc. Policing will be purely regional for internal security. A region can easily partner with investors and build refineries, seaports, airports, other critical infrastructure, control and operate them and thus generate revenue for itself.
I cannot go on and on here cos there's so many details but hopefully this gives u an idea. So yes, our current system of govt encourages too much corruption and being as far removed/isolated from the people as they are, it is difficult to demand accountability. And so to answer your questions, it is implementation of CONFAB that will change the mind of those blowing up our pipelines; demand good governance and accountability for all Nigerians as a matter of law and necessity; make Bayelsa, Ekiti, Osun, Yobe, Imo and all other states self sufficient enough to pay salaries and develop speedily and stop us from paying our legislators the highest salary in the world.
The recommendations of the CONFAB do not favour any political party or region so it has nothing to do with PDP. You have done your best in explaining to them. There is a reason why this country will not move forward, unless issues agreed upon in the confab are implemented. Zombies and their paymasters cannot see beyond ND oil. The minute you suggest decentralization they begin to shake in fright, yet they still clamor for diversification. Imagine if this report was implemented, you can see that a certain party will feel short changed, which resource is more lucrative than oil? I hope you get my drift. Until our leaders can practice what they preach, it seems the confab report will be politicized. |

Wesely01: A CONFUSED PRESIDENCY
Please google up Buhari's May 29th speech and zero in on the 33rd paragraph. This is what you will see:
" We are grateful to the international community notably France, the US, UK and China for their quick response in helping to tackle the recent EBOLA OUTBREAK in our sub-region. We also acknowedge the humanity shown by the Italian and German governments in the treatment of BOAT PEOPLE, many fleeing from our sub-region because of lack of economic opportunities........"
QUESTIONS:
1. Did the ebola outbreak occur after Buhari was sworn into office?
2. What exactly does Buhari or whoever wrote that speech mean by "boat people"?
Is the current Presidency just a collection of confused folks or what? Ebola? Boat people?
Na wah o!
#WeHaveAnErrorInAsoRock Anwsers 1. Do you expect him to give Jonathan any credit for handling Ebola effectively? It's not in APC /Buhari's manifesto 2. "Boat people" lol, Buhari no get WASC cert o, free am ; |

Does it mean no good can be gotten from the confab report because Jonathan organized it or what? When people say PMB dey clueless zombies go dey vex, SMH |

[s][/s] cramjones: Dear Nigerians,
We should abandon the learn to abandon the lens of ethnicity and tribe when viewing Buhari and his appointments. There have been big big thieves from all parts of the country. However, Nigerians would hail a leader when the Federal Character is respected regardless of whether those appointment cart away with their wealth.
We have been psychologically betrayed and deceived. When Deziani was appointed the Minister of Petroleum, people in the south-south and south-east were estatic and praised GEJ. Did she give one dollar to the many internet writers and those who in the psych think that it was a good thing? No. Rather she is one of the single biggest theives Nigerian politics have ever known. Only two people associated with her, are worth over $2billion. She single-handedly dolled out over $100 million as bribe, but this woman is from South-South, and all those people in that region would be happy simply because they consider as "there own." This is what I call complete mental slavery.
I am in full support of President Mohammadu Buhari's appointemnts. We had a bunch of theives in Jonathan's government many of them from the south. All Nigerians should be demanding is good, transparent, accountable and effective leadership. We must not rope our minds on the deceptful divides of the country.
Give PMB a chance, and desist from distractions!
