I work in Luanda, in the diocese of Caxito and in the parish Santa Isabel, Kicolo. I have been in this mission for 2 years now though I'm in Nigeria now for holidays. The mission and pastoral reality is a totally different one from what one could meet elsewhere. It’s a mission filled with so many challenges and the challenges determine what pastoral care provided for the people. The most obvious challenge is the high poverty rate among the people of the parish geographical area. Most people don’t have anything to do due to lack of jobs or no education qualification to enter the work market. Accompanied with the high poverty is a high birth rate. Thus, we have many children, adolescents and youths who find it difficult to go to school. The death rate is also very high due to inability to pay for good medical care. In a space of a year, we had many children, youths and adults who died on daily and weekly basis. Also, crime is extremely high due to inactivity and idleness of many. People are robbed and killed almost every day just for less than a dollar. Our parish and chapels have been attacked several times by thieves and we still have no idea how to stop them. Another pastoral challenge is the lack of interest most adolescents, youths and adults have for true knowledge of the Christian faith. Many attend church to get the sacraments and then bid farewell. Others who remain don’t have a deep knowledge of their faith; not because there are no avenues to learn, but because they just don’t have the interest to do so. These few aforementioned challenges have determined our pastoral approach. Starting with the last mentioned challenge, we offer many open formations on monthly levels for people to learn more of their faith. We intensified the requirements for youths to receive sacraments which is compulsory participation of Sunday masses and a weekday mass of which they sign a presence card. I am in charge of the youths, and we organise seasonal retreats, a yearly 5-day camping filled with ecclesial, spiritual and civil formation, bible formation and quiz, an 8-hour missionary walk experience in the month of October where we pray the rosary, sing praises and evangelise onlookers. We produce little booklets which we sell for very little price but with rich content in order to explain various areas of doubt in Christian faith. We try to encourage them to build a culture of reading. We run charity programs to help people who can’t pay for education or medical care, but this is greatly hampered by lack of benefactors since we cannot generate much money internally. We also have a centre for practical courses like cooking, electricity, sewing, hairdressing and English to help youths learn something practical and help them begin a small-scale business or get a job with their knowledge. They pay very little and we pay formators thanks to benefactors; but for how long? Presently we don't even have money to sustain that beautiful project due to no benefactors. The pastoral team has made it an important task to encourage parishioners to get married in the church. It is quite rampant for couples to live many years together and not want marriage, therefore staying outside the sacraments. Many get married from 50 years of age and above. encourage our youths to marry young too. Early pregnancy among adolescents as low as 12 is very common, and many resort to abortion. We speak very loudly against abortion at every possible moment. We meet pregnant young girls and their families to talk them out of abortion and protect life, and even go to families where abortions are committed to help evangelise them. Despite these, the people are good-hearted and help a lot in the growth of parish pastoral activities. Many of them volunteer easily when called upon. It is thanks to many willing hearts that we can give catechism classes to over 2000 children and youths yearly in our different chapels. Our chapels, basic Christian communities and other groups and ran by people who sacrifice time to help the church grow. With God as our strength, we are moving little by little, opening ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit. I love the mission despite the social and financial difficulties but I feel I'm fulfilling Jesus' mandate to go to all corners of the world and spread the good news. I'm sharing this hear because I would love you all to see realities in other places and also support my people and I with your prayers. |
These things fine no be small. These be handwork wey obodo Oyibo people go use make money coz customers go plenty. But for we africans we go de ask [b][Who statue epp? /b] |
soberdrunk:You even get two motor u dey complain. Wetin others go come talk now? |
UEDIBO:There is no school in Nigeria without flaws. I didn't study in Unilorin but i lived there for a while and the truth is that it is the only federal uni in the entire country where you are sure of uninterrupted studies for the time required for your course. What the author stated are all true. Ive seen them inferior tabs for example. But trust me, it's a good school. At least best federal uni in the country |
And i sabi the priest oh. Wetin we priests do these people nah. No be se we catholics priests de show materialism. We just be simple people living for simple conditions and helping people near God. But satan and him people go always find things to use scatter God work. Abeg, make we put am for prayer mek him comot alive. Na just young fada. Na to ready myself for kidnapping be that. I prefer to die for their hands sef. I go use God talk confuse their head for where dem go keep me, before dem finally kill me or release me. |
I de hail oh. Again i don come with another oyibo On this third Sunday of Easter we continue to proclaim that the risen Christ is Lord. Jesus wants to know if we love him or not, and if we really love him, then we must work to spread his mission to all the earth. Jesus is life and when we receive him we have to help others to have life in them too. In the gospel, the apostles decided to go back to fishing. We remember that in the beginning of Jesus’ mission, he had told them that they would become fishers of men. But here, they were afraid to perform the mission which Christ gave them and proclaim the good news to all. Fear and shame are two things that stop from living the life of Christ. Many of us are scared or ashamed to show the world that we believe in Christ; stealing is not good, immoral life is not good, fighting is not good, and lying is not good. But Jesus said, if you are ashamed of me, I too will be ashamed of you in front of my Father (Luke 9:26) After Jesus met Peter who denied him thrice and asked him, “Do you love me”. Each time he said yes, and Jesus told him “feed my sheep”. Jesus is also asking us if we love him, and if our answer is yes then we too must be ready to feed his sheep. To feed means that we want to help to grow the body of Christ. No one feeds to kill. We too must conquer our fear and feed others with way of Christ which is the way of life. In the first reading, led by Peter, the apostles had finally conquered fear and now they were feeding the people with the word of God. Not even the Jews who they were previously afraid of could stop them. Fear now belongs to the past. So, Peter boldly said to the High Priest: “We are witnesses to all this, we and the Holy Spirit…” In spite of all the humiliations and threats to their lives, Peter insisted: “Obedience to God comes first before obedience to men.” They are now confident that they will overcome death as Christ did. This is our real mission given to us by Christ. We are to live by the commandments of God and the life of Christ so that people will learn to do so. Even if we get punished and persecuted for doing the right thing, we should be joyful for having suffered for Christ. Let us ask God to fortify us with his grace so that we may remove shame and fear in us and firmly live a good life governed by christian virtues no matter what the consequence may be, and teach others to do so. Acts 5:12-16 / Apocalypse 1:9-13, 17-19 / John 20:19-31 Abeg, normally i de write only for pidgin for nairaland, but i come get too much work and now i no get time translate to pidgin the homily wey i do for English and Portuguese. Next time Nowadays every house is well protected and secured. No one leaves his house without locking the house securely with big padlocks. This is because we are in economic crises and there are some who would be happy to cure their financial crises by stealing in our houses. So, people even use three padlocks to lock the doors and windows. We do this because we are afraid. In the gospel we see the apostles as they are in a room and locked all the doors. They were afraid because Jesus was dead and they thought that the authorities would catch them and kill them too. They were also scared because they thought that Jesus, who was their only hope, had abandoned them. Jesus entered into their midst and they were filled with joy. Finally their hope is back. Jesus then breathed the Holy Spirit on them. The Holy Spirit was to give them strength and kill the fear that was in them, because he asked them to leave that room and announce the good news to all. So that fear must be conquered and that what the Spirit does. We remember how God created man out of clay and it was nothing until he breathed into the clay and it came into life. That’s how we are nothing unless the Spirit is blown into our life. At times, we are like the apostles. We are so scared, dejected and disappointed that we forget our faith and forget God too. Right now, people are dying everywhere, economic crises and no money to feed the family. It’s easy for us to abandon God and forget our faith because we would say that we pray daily yet God does not help us. So we lock ourselves away from God and run to sin. We look for money in illegal ways and do many evil things since we think God can’t help us. The good news is that we have a merciful God. No matter where we run too, Jesus will come there to call us back. No padlock or closed door can stop him. But we can only return to him if we recognize him and listen to his voice. He speaks through other humans, through events and through the Holy Scriptures, and through the church. He is there telling us “Peace be upon you”. Despite our sins, he wants to help us but we need to listen to him in order to get that peace. The same way that God is merciful to us, we need to be merciful to others too. Jesus said in the gospel of Luke “Be merciful as you heavenly Father is merciful”. We have the 14 acts of mercy with all of us must show to others since the resurrected Jesus continues to show us mercy. These are: To feed the hungry. To give drink to the thirsty. To clothe the naked. To harbor the harborless (Presently interpreted as Shelter the Homeless) To visit the sick. To ransom the captive (Presently interpreted as Visit the Imprisoned) To bury the dead. To instruct the ignorant. To counsel the doubtful. To admonish sinners. To bear wrongs patiently. To forgive offences willingly. To comfort the afflicted. To pray for the living and the dead Pidgin Priest |
12. Cross wey de hang for wall Unfortunate but na true. Those days almost every Christian house de get cross and every room join. But now people Don de remove am replace am with Rihanna or Davido photo or something else. This suppose be symbol to remind us se God Dey we side. E get some bad things u go do for ur room sef u go look the cross, ur mind go change. ![]()

Baroba:Thank u oga. Na wetin I don dey try explain since. But people no de understand my pidgin. |
evegran:If u check my name u go see pidgin there. Na the only thing I de speak. And last time I check Na still English. A variation of am. And all I bin talk na my work. I no Dey waste time help people understand God word better and how to apply am for real life. |
evegran:Oh boy! See as people de do God judgement work. U talk se u no de judge her come talk se God no go bless her. Somehow u even ever her mind know her motive, as u confirm se no be for love she do am. U come de misapply Bible quotation join. So any good person do and others see am no go get reward coz of wetin Jesus talk for sermon on the mount for Matthew 5? Our Jesus wey perform the biggest good act of love as him pack cross come die for us, na for him bedroom him hide do am, so that people no go see? No be for public for that generation to see and all other generations? Him miracles na for toilet him hide do am? People do bad things de post am for internet like drugs, porn pics, consumerism with money. Good people go do good things come hide am again. Why bad no go reign and spread pass. Nna eh! Biko no de turn wetin Jesus talk to another thing. If u get opportunity to spread good deeds abeg do am. Our sinful world need am. |
cruzita:Thank God u realise se u miss yan. If all of us Dey hide our good deeds then how we go teach others to do am. No be show off. The way our world Don rotten so, we need people to Dey show their good deeds so that we go believe in them good deeds again |
Sanchez01:Yep! E go must be Sunday. E de simple. Just Sunday wey follow the first of that moon calculation but go mist be from 21. For eg, If e be 21 the moon thing happen and na Saturday, then Easter go be 22nd. Holy Thursday 19th, Good Friday 20th, etc. For Catholic church calender, Easter na first feast to know, then dates for other movable feasts fit follow like when advent go start or Lent ash Wednesday etc. All na Easter de determine them. Easter dates na one thing wey other churches never comot eye from Catholic people. Na only one church bin Dey before first protestant revolution start for 1520. Dem disagree many things from Catholic Church and till today still Dey disagree (na why new churches de born like pig daily). But dem never refuse Catholic Easter date. Whenever that date fall for catholics, other churches go join body. |
Ubenedictus:Gbam |
Ubenedictus:I know Jesus made references to Jonah in the gospels, but can't remember him comparing his coming resurrection with the time spent by Jonah in the fish belle. I don forget sey na pidgin my id demand me to speak. Back to case. Jesus reference to Jonah na se if people of Nineveh fit change after dem hear Jonah preaching, then this people go come yab them for judgement day coz dem bin get person wey big pass Jonah (wey be Jesus) and dem no listen |
franzis:Not that he rose after 3 days, but.... He rose on the third day. Ressuscité le troisième jour Ressuscitou no terceiro dia. Died on Friday. He was dead on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But in the Sunday night he resurrected. Those are 3 days that knew his death. ![]() |
How Una wan use words describe the noise so? This is not a matter of 10. Any new noise I hear for me car na wahala I must know the root, even if na toilet roll fall from my back seat. Except na noise I Don Dey used to |
gasgenius:Yes sir! The church na body of Christ with Jesus as him head. In as much na Jesus get the church, human factor go must dey since humans form the other part of the church. So humans go must add their things like their thoughts, actions and words, coz God no go come down do am himself. Na we Dey take care of those, but Jesus ma assure us we no go Dey alone coz him go send him spirit to guide us. Like this as we de add our human things we believe se Holy Spirit dey guide our actions so that we no spoil everything. U sabi how we humans fit be na ![]() Yeah Peter bin get wife. I sure se u go surprise if I tell u say we get Catholic priests wey de married too. coz we Dey more efficient like so. I no get wife too and I de happy and more focused on my mission. Any thing I dey tell u so na summary, so no take am like se I Don tell u everything. Catholic mean "universal". Na name wey suppose don appear when pentecostal revolution start to fit separate the first church from others. So dem bin de refer to us like that universal "Catholic" church wey de everywhere in contrast to others wey bin de only some restricted places. Till today, Catholic Church na still universal and for all, of all tribes, rich and poor. I hope se u Don hear the saying, no matter the bush u go for any part of the world, as long as humans Dey there, two things u go must see na Coca-Cola and Catholic Church . Me so I de work for one bush for Angola. Other churches no go even think to come here since dem de look for rich people. We de go for the poor and all as we de obey the word of Jesus "go everywhere for world and baptise dem in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit". |
gasgenius:My oga, I be Catholic priest as my id talk, though na for pidgin I de talk as my id talk too. History of the church na something wey I don use years study and Dey my back of hands. So i no sure I need 10 mins for Google as u ask me. Eh Ehen, as I don talk that one, the truth wey all of us know be say before 1520 of our oga Luther who be Catholic priest too, comot from church begin him revolution, no other church bin exist apart from Catholic Church. Yeah, e bin get different rites like the eastern and roman rites but all na one same church wey Dey under one Pope (though something happen for 1054 but I no need to yarn am here). And guess who the first Pope? Na Peter the apostle wey u know. After am clement, after am another and so and so for unbroken link sotey e reach Pope Francis wey u know. The early Christian community of first 300 years bin Dey kind of scattered coz of persecution. But all of them bin get priests to consecrate body and blood of Jesus for them wetin we de call mass. Well, mek I no talk much. Catholic Church dey rich in tradition. E don pass thru many things including psychological war Martin Luther carry come to create wetin all other churches be which be why dem de call them "protest"ants. Who dem protest? Against Catholic Church. And still dey do am. Na why today we no go stop to de hear people de tell us say we dey worship Mary or statue or idolatry or whatever. Na dem de talk, but we de do our pure worship wey dem hand to us since Jesus and first Christian community. If u still de doubt go Google try search origin of Catholic Church or when E begin and u no go see date coz na first ever church. Then try search origin of other churches and all get date, the oldest of them wey no go pass 1520 |
Jesus wash him paddy dem leg come tell us mek we do same. All of us suppose comot eye from too much power we de show, try come low serve even d person wey small pass for we eyes. #holyweek #goodthursday

gasgenius: ![]() Nice comedy u do abeg. He say catholics no be Christians . When he sabi se Catholicism na the only church wey bin Dey from Christ reach 1520 when first Christian division happen. So for ur mind, for over 1500 years Christianity bin exist abi, since na only cationic church bin Dey then. Na other churches waka comot from us. Na we be the first and people wey de maintain wetin be real Christianism. |
I no know which voice Fayose hear wey tell am se God de vex But I no se é get as man go frustrate him go de hear voices from left and right, and as him no sabi the source him go talk se na God. Uncle abeg finish the wahala for ur state and these voices go comot from ur head |
