Hello Everyone!

I trust you guys are doing okay.

Please has anyone travelled/knows someone who has travelled recently to the US? I need some CLARITY with regards to the PCR test to be done a DAY BEFORE DEPARTURE.

What are the recommended testing clinics? I have seen some bad reviews about some testing centers, and it is giving me some anxiety, LOL! I need a trusted clinic, where I can do the test and receive my result promptly, given that departure is the next day...

I will appreciate some feedback...Thanks in advance, much appreciated!

Cheers!!!

Just use Clina Lancet Laboratories

@DrStrangeLove, you gave a robust elucidation especially with your opening statement that the VOs start from the position of “he/she doesn’t deserve this visa” and need to work back to “he/she has a valid travel reason”….So the burden of proof rests with the visa applicant….it is therefore advisable to avoid any red flag as much as possible…

Back to the issue raised by @Pilot4AirBus, I empathize with you on the visa revocation especially since you’ve been second guessing on the reasons, without any specificity. Sorry about your dad’s accident too, I’m sure he’s much recovered now and back to his former self…being alive is more important than any mundane vacation even if it’s to the US…

My fear is that you’ve been placed on a subtle travel ban (the reasons for this are far fetched: either not traveling as a family, you traveling with your brother, any infractions against US rules unknown or ‘unremembered’ by you etc)…it usually happens with a visa revocation (now we aren’t sure of the duration of such ban, if that’s the case). I will advise that you rebuild your travel history elsewhere…go to the UK, Dubai…the usual tourist attractions…while waiting for your next US visa interview appointment. I know it will cost you money (not even with the current gloomy economic environment) but that’s the only way you can show to the next VO that you aren’t a potential immigrant. Has your mum tried to renew her visa again? You didn’t talk about your dad…did he get a visa for the earlier botched trip? Has he renewed it?

Let’s have a fruitful week, folks…

P.S: Kudos to @fkj950ax @DrStrangeLove @puffmama @Ummzayd etc who usually take time to clear the air on this forum…God bless us all

Kudos to you guys,

I’m just going to peg the reason for my revoked visa at Overstay and not been Eligible for the category then.

My mom isn’t bothered about renewing after her renewal was refused and my dad isn’t Interested Lol (he never applied with us)

I am facing the same issue. My visa was revoked too.

I did all I could to find the reason why the visa was revoked but nothing was ever revealed to me.

I did it all. I wrote the U.S consulate in Lagos but no meaningful information was given.

I proceeded to request for my record from the United States Department of State headquarters in Washington D.C and all they sent me was my DS160 information without any meaningful information.

It was at this moment I knew the U.S system is corrupt and their aim was to confuse visa applicants to waste time and to keep wasting more money reapplying for a visa they have no intention of issuing.

I think they were quite a lot of complaints about revoked visas in 2019..

They ask you to come to the consulate and they ask few questions (serere) then they revoke.

This info should have been raised at your interview, which is missing in your transcript.

There is nothing in your initial and 2nd comment that warrants a visa revocation.

Traveling and spending 2 months by different individuals is not a big deal. People in the same family do so regularly. I don't agree with Dr Love speculations on this.

The further lack of questions and VOs note reading of other US agencies shows something did happen. The visa got canceled before your trip with your sibling, since the deboarding happened at departure here. Not a CBP refusing entry and turning you guys back.

Your previous visa application + approval and initial trip broke certain rules. Immigration rules. US rules...

You seem to be the one on their radar. If your other sibling has indeed gone to the US afterwards. Retrace your activities during the 2 months vacation. Did you hang out with anyone now incarcerated or declared person of interest? Any traffic incident?

You left a trail that made them research you in absentia and advise US agencies to scrutinize you next time you show up.

Was your brother refused boarding only or visa revoked as yours?

An 8 year old won't be allowed to travel alone except airline is informed he's going to be unaccompanied.

The transcript was this month appointment for a different visa category and the email in bold was an inquiry response in 2018 when I and my brother were denied boarding and visas were revoked at the embassy when we returned to the embassy.

If something really was wrong then they should’ve revoked the visa in 2017 when my mom went for renewal and she was refused, and she did go with our passport then to show that we are in Nigeria.

For me I didn’t break no rules in my previous travel… I wouldn’t hide any info here.

If I did something wrong I should be scrutinize at my interviews with questions surrounding it.

My village people might be working overtime or they’re mistaking me for someone else

I’m thinking about sending an email really.

instead of just applying why not write to them and if they respond that a VO will determine your fate, it will be on record that you did write to inquire.

So below is the reply we got after the revocation, when my parents wanted to know why.

“The reasons for their visa revocation can only be addressed by a consular officer at your future interview. If they have future plans to travel to the United States, they may wish to apply again to re-establish their qualifications for new non-immigrant visas.”

I don’t really think there’s a need sending another mail.

DrStrangelove:
This is so sad and really not anyone's fault. From what I have read, there were redflags in ur solo trips to the US.

Now lets break it down, the whole family (u, ur brother, ur sister and Mum) all got visas issued in 2016 for a family vacation/visit. U said u have just finished school (not sure if this secondary school or Uni). Also not sure if ur middle born or first born wch if the latter will place ur siblings either still in sec school/uni or worst ur last brother still in secondary school at most junior year in Uni.

The above statement is just to ascertain that u and ur siblings are still dependents of ur parents as of the time the visas were issued and placed in the care of ur Mum who also got the visa.

Before the turn of events before u travelled, u were expected to go with ur sibs and Mum but this didn't happen as u went alone (1st Redflag). U were cleared for boarding and at POE, so the travel was fine and u returned. So also ur sister went also without mum. Cleared boarding and also cleared POE and returned but only after 2 months (2nd Redflag). By now am guessing this was pre middle 2018.

U can see there is a pattern to ur travels. So now by 2018 (by now, new visa issuing policies were in place), u decided to travel with ur lil bro again without ur mum (3rd Redflag). The reason for deboardment is unclear but since ur visas were revoked, something must have happened during ur visit that triggered it on one of their databases which redflagged ur name as the airline/immigration sent the manifest to the destination country. Remember, ur visa can be revoked by any of the authorized agencies even from within the US. So once that agency saw ur name come up, they sent a message to the authorities here not to allow u board. This incident reminds me of a family that had sold all their belongings here and had withdrew the children from school and had said their goodbyes to all sundry only to be escorted down from the plane when they boarded. It was a debacle. The US authorities had redflagged their names against a database and knew they were travelling with the kids so they didn't want them to fly with the kids as there were some laws regarding deportation of kids on home soil or something like that. So they would rather have them not board than to fly. So maybe the Redflag then also has to do with u flying with ur lil bro.

The database redflagging could occur if u have some outstanding things/cases in the US like driving/traffic violation, outstanding warrants, defaults, criminal or civil issues. Could be anything. U were even lucky u were just going for holiday and u didn't even board, that family were already on the plane seated and belted probably taking pics only for them to be escorted off the plane. The kids were saying "Dad what's happening".

Now back to ur interview, it was all these conclusions and redflags the VO was reading on ur profile in ur case note so has to digest all that went down. There were many redflags and I will be surprise if she issued u the visa at all. A revoked visa isn't good news and I think there's a ban attached to it. Its likely u can't apply anytime soon as they would need an overriding reason to issue it and that's when time has passed. Try going to other countries to pursue ur dreams for now and attempt after a while. U have started a job and no longer a dependent...good. Build ur story from there.

Now to ur sister, has she renewed her visa after the initial issue or the subsequent travels were on the initial visa? If she hasn't renewed, she should be ready to defend the 2 months. If she has and the visa was renewed, am guessing her Redflag wasn't serious but urs was....that tipped them off.

Build urself and create ur story

Goodluck

Nice read

So we actually suspected it could be because of my little brother who was 8 as at 2018, in 2016 I just left Uni… if I wanted to run I would have but we don’t break visa rules.

Well, I never did anything illegal in the US, just stayed 2 months and returned in one piece.

After this ordeal my mom n brother visited the UK.

My sister who is the 2nd born, actually traveled twice on J1 visas after the visit of 2 months.

If there’s a ban then they need to say it to an applicant so he or she doesn’t waste money coming

I’ve paid a for a new appointment to give it a try and ask questions rather than bowing out because some VOs tend give hints on applicant issues.

Thanks for your response

Hello everyone,

It’s going to be a long read as I was denied visa and it’s quite sad…

VO: have you been to US?
Me: Yes
VO: place your fingers
Me: “did it”
VO: How long did you stay and what did you go for?
Me: stayed for 2months and It was a vacation.
VO: did you go with your family?
Me: no, I went alone.
VO: what are you going for now?
Me: Talking about my program…
VO: *reading(not typing at all) through her screen for so long*
- we were both quiet here… no questions no answer just going through her screen.
VO: handed me green paper.

Here’s the thing, my family(except dad) and I went to the consulate in 2016 (I just left school), we got the visa and while preparing to travel my dad had an accident. Plans got disrupted. So I went alone and returned then my sister went alone too (2months stay).

In 2018 while going to the US with my little brother we were refused boarding and then our visas were revoked, I remembered been asked at the consulate what I did during my previous stay and if I was working which I said No and just Xmas n new year fun with relatives.

So I’m wondering if a revoked visa means I can’t go to US again?, a different visa category and I’ve being working since 2018 and not under my parents anymore and my sister has traveled twice after her first travel of 2months stay.

You have to fill your Ds160, book an appointment (select the next available date you see) then you’ll see request appoint on the left menu.

Then request by giving brief explanation and supporting docs.

Posting transcript for posterity, cause there seems to be a paucity of J1 applicants in Nigeria.

Me: Good morning Ma'am
V. O : pass me your passport and DS2019 please
Me: Here. How's your day going?
V.o: Fine. Thank you.
I see here you're going for surgical research at *** medical school
Me: Yes ma'am. I'm going to conduct surgical research at ***, the largest teaching hospital of ***.
V.O: What type of surgery?
Me: General surgery. Our research at *** is focused on obesity and metabolism. Basically, we are trying to develop non invasive therapies for the treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. This is important research and we could win the nobel prize (joking with a chuckle).. Gets cut off..

V. O: Who is paying for this?
Me: My cousin and her husband will be paying for my program.
V. O: Cousin? (I heard husband)
Me: Cousin not Husband
V.O: (chuckles) I said Cousin not husband
Me: Smiles
V.O: What does she do?
Me: She owns one of the biggest neonatal photography companies in ***. They take beautiful neonatal and infant photography.

V. O: What do you do here in Nigeria?
Me: I'm a medical doctor. Graduated medical school in June, since then been working remotely with ***, performing basic literature review to help build up my basics for resumption of my research.

V.O: What are your plans after you complete your program?
me: My ultimate goal is to pursue an academic career in cardio-thoracic surgery. During my career, research will be needed so hopefully this program will give me the skills I'll need throughout my career.
Concretely, upon completion of my program, I'm returning to Nigeria to pursue a cardio-thoracic surgery residency. During my residency, I plan to continue conducting research. Infact, I already spoke to the ministry of health and TETFUND about the possibility of spearheading research into 'metabolism and its influence on the incidence of sudden cardiac death' and I was told that I would need extensive research experience, publications in high impact journals, and participation in notable academic projects. So I plan to be as productive as possible in the US, so as to...
(Flings a book about *'my rights while working in the US'* at me)

As I read the title, I come smile, talk..
Thank you ma'am (my smile come reach Jericho under my mask, but I stayed composed, I no fit come fall my hand, I'm a doctor)

She typed for 13 hours, come say 'I'll be approving your Visa'

I asked some questions about transiting through some schengen countries and she answered courteously. I thanked her and left with my white paper and book.

I was calm and confident all through, articulating my answers slowly and precisely which was weird because she refused everybody before me and I thought she was going to refuse me as well. But God showed up for me sha.

To God be the glory.
