An apex Yoruba socio-cultural group, Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, has noted that Nigeria is sitting on keg of gunpowder. According to the group, the quit notice by coalition of Arewa Youths on Igbos living in the North and agitation for State of Biafra by groups in the Southeast were a reflection of the political atmosphere in the country. The group said this after its 19th executive members meeting held in Ibadan yesterday, the Oyo State capital. Addressing newsmen immediately after the meeting, Secretary General of the council, Dr Kunle Olajide said, “We are sitting on a keg of gunpowder because no part of the country except the South West is at peace and that peace in the South West is a peace of the graveyard. “We have the largest number of unemployed graduates and our infrastructures have collapsed. As far as YCE is concerned, the quit notice by the Arewa Youths and the call for Biafra by IPOB are a reflection of political thermometer and temperature of Nigeria. “It shows there is uneasiness in every part of this nation. If Arewa youths could go to Arewa House to give ultimatum, then you should know they have the backing of some of their leaders.” http://www.looknaija.com/2017/07/highly-marginalized-south-west-yoruba-elders/

Presidential aide on Job Creation, Afolabi Imoukhuede, gave this hint on Monday while addressing about 6,000 N-Power volunteers in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. He said many volunteers have been collecting stipends of N30,000 monthly without reporting for work which discourages serious volunteers from giving in their best. Imoukhuede disclosed that the 60 volunteers already identified nationwide would be used to set examples, noting that the programme was not a cake-sharing or cake-collection scheme. He said that no fewer than 363 volunteers deployed in Kwara were ghosts and did not exist in the programme, adding that those found guilty of absenteeism would be forced to return all stipends received and prosecuted. Imoukhuede explained that volunteers were the cause of non-receipt of their stipends because they failed to validate their financial records more than seven months into the graduate scheme. “There is no irregularity in the payment of stipends; we do not discriminate against states. “The reason for what you tag irregularity is that we are trying to update your accounts. “Our goal is that everyone will receive all stipends unbroken”, he added http://www.looknaija.com/2017/07/n-power-blacklisted-volunteers-prosecuted-fraud-presidency/

Former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, has said it would be difficult for her to trust anyone after the incident of her lesbian sex tape. She also narrated how she was able to overcome that period, revealing that her family was there for her in her most challenging period. Chidinma came into limelight after she won the Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant in 2015, and made major headlines few months ago after her viral lesbian sex tape was leaked online. She was dethroned towards the end of her reign as a queen, when a purported sex tape she had participated in was released and she became a subject of heavy criticism. But Chidinma said the pains and trauma the incident put her through had been healed and she has continued to forge a career for herself in the entertainment industry. In an interview with Channels TV, the ex-beauty queen said, “I was able to heal with the help of God and my family. I talked to myself because I know I had so much to give out there. “I was surrounded with people that were encouraging me to move on with what I wanted to do and not give up on my dreams and I took their advice. Now I am a stronger and better person.” Chidinma who released a music single titled ‘Friends’, added that, “The song ‘friends’ is generally about friends and it is passing across a message to people out there to be careful of people they call friends because not everybody is happy that you are going up there. “What inspired the song was after the whole crisis, the incident was centralised on friends so I thought to do music about the whole stuff(incident) and that is how friends came about. “Where I am now, I live my life and I have actually healed but I am still having trust issues anyway but whatever you are going through in life just look on the bright side because in every storm there is always hope. “It is in our stormy periods God intervenes and opens doors for us so never lose hope and never give up on yourself.“ http://www.looknaija.com/2017/07/chidinmas-sex-tape-got-trauma-chidinma-okeke/ lalasticlala

Acclaimed Nigerian king of comedy and actor, Alibaba, took to Instagram to celebrate his charming twins, Ejiro and Tejiri who graduated from their pre-degree programme today. The day’s celebration is even more special because the young champs crowned it all with with various awards. True to his nature, the proud father teased that the cost of their graduation gowns are equivalent to his school fees in the university. Plus, the twins (who he comically refers to as Bogof -born one get one free) he adds, won’t let his shoes and suits rest. Did someone miss the memo that there is joy in sharing? The National Assembly will seek special dollar exchange rate for both Christian and Muslim pilgrims, a member of the House of Representatives (APC-Sokoto), Dr Balarabe Salame, has said. Salame, who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Special Committee on Nigerian-Saudi Arabian on Hajj, made the disclosure on Thursday in Sokoto. He spoke at the maiden edition of the Stewardship Forum organised for both the state and national lawmakers by the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The lawmaker said: ”The gesture is to lessen the sufferings of prospective pilgrims and to enable more Nigerians to perform pilgrimage to in Saudi Arabia and Israel. ” The Federal Government gave an exchange rate of N360 to a dollar this year and this is on the high side. ”This is why the 2017 Hajj fare for Muslim pilgrims soared to N1.52 million per prospective pilgrim.” The lawmaker lauded the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration on the fight against corruption. ”Corruption is everywhere, even in the religion circle and more should be done to tame the socioeconomic monster,” he said. Salame also lauded the efforts of the Federal Government in securing the lives and property of Nigerians. He urged the government to establish warehouses at the nation’s borders for vehicle importers instead of outright ban on vehicles importation. ”With this in place, importers can bring in vehicles, pay the appropriate duties and move them into the hinterlands, rather than the outright ban of vehicles through the land borders,” Salame said.
