The Lagos State Police Command has smashed a notorious trans-border robbery gang, whose members come from the Benin Republic to snatch exotic cars from Nigerian motorists and take same to Cotonou.

Arrested were four members of the gang, including a herbalist who confessed to be preparing charms for the gang. Three members of the gang— Ajagba Hammaed, 30; Tobinju Potel, 35, and Botan Remmy, 30— were arrested along the Mile-2/Badagry Expressway while on a mission to snatch vehicles in Lagos State. 


Recovered from them were one AK-47 rifle with serial number PE-2473; 43 AK-47 live ammunition; one locally-made cut-to-size double barrelled gun; six live cartridges; one car number plates (JD 697 KJA) and assorted charms.

The gang members had been operating in Lagos State for close to two years. One of its operations was carried out at Ajose Adeogun, V.I Lagos, on January 20, where they snatched a Prado Jeep from one Olayinka Oyebola. 

Oyebola had gone to withdraw some money from an ATM. When he was through with the withdrawal, he entered his car but before he could drive off, the criminals who had been stalking him, intercepted him. 


They forced him out of the driver’s seat and dragged him to the rear of the car. He was dispossessed of his phone, laptop and N45,000. The gang also stripped him naked and drove him to Ajah/Epe Road, where he was thrown out of the car.

Same day, the trio drove to Ikoyi area where they parked the stolen jeep beside another Prado jeep belonging to one Engr. Fidel Onwodi, who was with his wife buying suya.

They were ordered at gunpoint to sit at the rear as the gunmen drove off with them. However on the way, Onwudi’s wife jumped out of the moving car, while the robbers continued the journey to the Third Mainland Bridge, where they dropped off her husband.

They went away with Engr. Onwodi’s jeep, but abandoned the first one at Babatunde Cresent, Oniru area of Victoria Island, where it was recovered by operatives.

A bike rider identified as Sunday Ibo, has beheaded in Odogbolu, Ogun State.

According to reports, Ibo was killed on Wednesday 14th February 2018 and his corpse dumped in the bush. The police command in Ogun State is now trying to unmask the killers who went away with his vital organs. The discovery caused a protest by his fellow kinsmen from Benue State.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Africans, especially Nigerians, to stop bearing European names but should, instead, bear and be proud of their African names.

According to him, “Neither my children nor I have any European names. We all proudly have ONLY African names (Reno is Itsekiri). The attitude Africans ought to have is that neither they nor their children should bear Western or non African names since Europeans and non Africans don’t bear African names. The officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, (LASBCA), have sealed the zonal headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), under construction in Ajegunle, a hotel in Ikeja and 6 other buildings over illegal development of structures and for breaking government seal. 

The operation was led by the General Manager, LASBCA, Engr. Olalekan Shodeinde. Officials of the Lagos State Task Force were on ground to provide security and arrest culprits during the enforcement exercise on Saturday. 


Shodeinde told journalists in Lagos that all properties sealed had been sealed up to four times in the past, but that their owners always broke government’s seal to continue their illegal development.


More than 11 workers found at the site when LASBCA officials visited were arrested and arraigned at the mobile court, which sat in Ebute Meta area of Lagos at the weekend. They were sent to jail for not being able to perfect their bail conditions after their trial.

This is a situation that is currently happening and unfolding at the Ogba Police Area Command in Lagos.

Mavin singer, Reekado Banks is involved in a situation that has made the aggrieved party drag him to the Police Stattion.

The singer collected money (Two Million Naira) to perform at a wedding in Benin City but he failed to show up.

After the wedding, Uwa Idahosa (an OAP and comedian) who contracted Reekado Banks to perform at the wedding on behalf of the couple demanded a refund but the singer through his manager, Temi said they could only refund 800,000 saying they incurred logistics costs as well.

Right now, Uwa Idahosa, Reekado Banks' manager (Temi) and relatives of the couple are at the police station to demand a full refund. They're all still at the station waiting for the Area Commander to come and give a final verdict.

Veteran Nollywood Movie Producer and Marketer, Chukwuka Emelionwu aka KasVid is dead.

According to reports, Emelionwu was involved in a ghastly accident, yesterday, in Imo State. He however came out of the accident alive, but was knocked down by a hit and run driver, while trying to cross to the other side of the road. .

Kasvid produced many blockbusters, including Issakabba and AKi and PAW.

The Kenyan police have arrested a middle-aged man identified as Mbiti Munyao,in Kangundo constituency, Machakos, for allegedly raping two goats to death.

According to the area assistant Chief Mary Mulwa, Munyao was seen pulling the two goats from a bush where the animals had been tied on Saturday, January 13. The two goats were said to have taken their last breath after Munyao was done with them.

The accused was charged and bailed for sh100, 000 after he pleaded not guilty to the accusation. He was charged with an unnatural offense and unlawful killing of goats.

Journalist, Ahmad Salkida, shared screenshots of a new video released by members of the Abukakar Shekau-led terrorist group, Boko Haram. The video shows the remaining Chibok school girls who have vowed never to return to their parents. Recall that the girls were abducted on April 14th 2014.

Salkida says the new video shows some police female officers who were kidnapped last year, begging to be rescued. Shekau in the video said he is not tired of carrying out attacks.

The presidency has reacted to complaints on why President Buhari has not gone to Benue state to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent herdsmen attack in the state.

Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, speaking with Channels TV on Sunday said President Buhari will soon visit Benue state and other states under attack.


He urged Nigerians to be patient as Buhari is not slow in action against herdsmen attack.

”It is a very sad development in our country. The President himself has expressed his sadness about it. You would recall that right on the day the incident happened, he caused a statement to be issued from the office of the special adviser on media and publicity that the development was condemnable, that the security agents must move in immediately and put it in each. He has sent in the IG of police, Minister of Interior and others. In terms of visiting, the president will visit not just Benue. Recall that killings are taking place in Taraba, Rivers, Kaduna. The president will also visit most of these theaters of killings.

”If killings happened on January 1st and the President reacted on January 1st, I don’t see anything wrong in that. If you call it sluggish, it will just be your opinion and they have a right to their opinion. On the day it happened, he directed security agencies on what to do.

Reacting on Oby Ezekwesili’s Red card campaign to remove Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress out of government in 2019, Adesina said everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

”In a country of 180 million, there is no way you will not have dissatisfaction from some areas but every news of dissatisfaction that comes to the President, he looks into and if anybody is waving a red card, if the Nigerian Referees Association have recognised her as a referee, then she can wave the red card”.

Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, ​has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)​, with the support of Nigerians, will unseat the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

​He said this at a ‘Unity ​R​ally’ organised by ​the party in Agaie/Lapai Local Government Area​ of the State.

At the event, over 600 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP.

“We will resist any form of intimidation put on our way to reclaiming power at all levels of governance in the country​,​”​ the PDP chieftain said.​

​Babangida disclosed that a committee had been put in place to ensure victory for the PDP in 2019 general election​.

The former governor warned the party faithful against cross-carpeting after primaries, saying those who remained, despite pains and humiliation, would be applauded and compensated.

​PDP​ state chairman, Alhaji Tanko Beji, apologised for past mistakes of the party which foisted the APC on the people of the state​.

“​We have learnt our lessons​ and ​​​are ready to correct them. PDP will definitely return to winning ways”, he said.

Beji urged the party supporters to obtain their voter cards to enable them vote in the 2019 elections.

10 persons have been confirmed dead in an explosion that occured at the Second Coming Gas station in Magodo, Lagos state this morning January 11th. The gas plant is located on CMD Road, opposite Magodo Brooks Estate.


Operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) are currently at the scene to contain the fire and carry out rescue operation. The cause of the explosion is yet unknown.
