It can be quite frustrating if you are trying to get pregnant yet have no period. Having a healthy cycle is step one for boosting your fertility naturally and being able to get pregnant. There are a couple of reasons your cycle may be irregular such as stress, dietary deficiencies, low body weight, getting off of birth control pills, hormonal imbalance, perimenopause or other underlying issues. Since the lining of the uterus is not being shed, it is very important to clear out the old blood and establish a healthy cycle again. This can be done naturally and effectively with herbs and nutrition. I have talked with many clients who have been offered synthetic estrogen to get there periods going again… taking synthetic estrogen for this issue is like using a sledge hammer on a thumb tack. Absent Period… Otherwise Known as Amenorrhea Absent period is known as amenorrhea. Amenorrhea is divided into two distinct groups: primary amenorrhea and secondary - See more at: http://www.planbwellness.com/irregularceased-menstruation-how-to-get-your-menses-back/#sthash.YgR48Wde.dpuf |
4 MAIN REASONS WHY YOU’RE STILL STRUGGLING WITH FIBROIDS A lot of fibroid patients do complain of spending a lot of money on different forms of treatment without getting any result to show for it. The symptoms are always still there and the fibroids in some cases even grow bigger. If you are undergoing fibroid treatment and you still experience any of the following, it means you are engaging in some or all of the 4 acts described below; • You still struggling with fibroids despite taking different treatments • You experience bloating and discomfort in your abdominal area • You are gaining weight • You undergo painful and prolonged periods • You couldn’t eat • You suffer with anxiety and frustration • Life seems to be hell for you Here are 4 reasons you’re still struggling with fibroids… 1. You Are Eating Red Meat, Dairy, Poultry And Eggs - These foods, especially from animals fed with hormones, increase estrogen levels and that causes fibroids to grow bigger. A way to get over this is to reduce your red meat intake. For poultry and dairy products, make sure you take organic ones. Eat home grown chicken instead of the highly preserved frozen chicken. This applies to all poultry products such as egg. Egg from home grown organic chickens is better than those from poultry chickens that are fed with chemical-containing feeds. 2. You Are Eating Starchy Carbohydrates...read moreat http://www.planbwellness.com/4-main-reasons-why-youre-still-struggling-with-fibroids/ |

Have you suffered a pregnancy loss due to ectopic pregnancy? If so, you are not alone, 2% of all pregnancies are ectopic. An ectopic pregnancy, or eccysis, is a complication of pregnancy in which the embryo implants outside the uterine cavity. Women who have experienced ectopic pregnancy often suffer from tissue damage; this may lead to infertility, and a 7-15% chance recurrence due to scarring and adhesion in the fallopian tubes. Not only is ectopic pregnancy damaging to the tissues, it can be emotionally scarring as well. Fetus within fallopian tube Fetus within fallopian tube Ectopic pregnancy can be very physically painful, scary, and in some women may lead to hemorrhage (bleeding)that may result in death. All of this may create fear for future pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is not something to be taken lightly. Often times women are very excited to be pregnant, only to find out that they have an ectopic pregnancy and that this pregnancy is not viable; this can be a devastating loss. If you are one of those women who have suffered damage, physically or emotionally from ectopic pregnancy, this article is for you! I will share with you ways to heal your body physically and emotionally from ectopic pregnancy. But before we begin all of that I believe it is important to share with you factors that may put you at risk for ectopic pregnancy, so that you can learn ways to prevent it. Causes and Prevention of Ectopic Pregnancy Sexually Transmitted Disease Sexually transmitted disease, especially Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). If left untreated this may cause scar tissue, adhesion and chronic inflammation in the fallopian tubes and uterus. Use protection such as condoms during sexual intercourse, especially with new partners to help prevent STD’s. Tubal Sterilization Reversal This is a common birth control method for women who thought they were done having children. More and more women are deciding otherwise and having tubal reversal procedures. Because the fallopian tubes were cut and cauterized initially, then snipped again and sewn back together, this may cause scar tissue, which may narrow or block the fallopian tubes. Any type of tubal sterilization poses a risk for ectopic pregnancy, even if you do not want children and have not had a tubal reversal. Of all the unsuccessful tubal ligation procedures that resulted in pregnancy, about 50% resulted in ectopic pregnancy. Cesarean Section Subsequent pregnancies are at risk for ectopic pregnancy following a C-section. This is due to increased risk of scar tissue formation around the reproductive organs which may damage the fallopian tubes. Surgery to Open Blocked Fallopian Tubes Women who have already been diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes may have surgical procedures to re-open them; but this procedure may cause more damage, which may lead to more scarring and adhesion. Low Progesterone A study done by Dr. Buckley shows that the patients that had an etopic pregnancy had progesterone levels below 22ng/ml. Of all the patients who’s progesterone level was below 22 ng/ml, 10% had an ectopic pregnancy BUT none of the patients with progesterone levels above 22 had an ectopic pregnancy. Taking health products that can make your body reproductive hormones balance will easily take care of this. Smoking Smoking cigarettes has been linked to 5 times greater risk for ectopic pregnancy. Holy Smokes! Nicotine stimulates the fallopian tubes to contract. In some women it has been shown to cause the fallopian tubes to spasm, the walls of the fallopian to temporarily stick together, preventing the embryo from passing through for implantation in the uterus.- See more at: http://www.planbwellness.com/ectopic-pregnancy-causes-prevention-and-cure/#sthash.BndSfq4J.dpuf |

Yes and No! NO: Because once fibroids are removed by surgery, they do not grow back. So technically, a woman cannot experience a fibroids recurrence. Yes: Because new fibroids can grow in the same place or on other parts of the womb. How Likely Are Fibroids To Grow Back? There have been various studies which have researched this question. One study indicated that if myomectomy surgery is performed for one single fibroid, 11 percent of patients would require repeat surgery within the following 10 years. If multiple fibroids were removed, the repeat rate was about 25 percent. Another study investigated the success rate of uterine artery embolization (UAE) and found that 17 percent of patients needed further treatment within 30 months. As most ‘recurrences’ occurred within 2 years, the researchers recommended that patients be monitored with transvaginal ultrasound for at least 2 years after UAE surgery. What Makes Fibroids More Likely To Grow Back? Age: The nearer a woman is to menopause, the less likely fibroids are to grow back. Under normal circumstances, it would be very unusual for a woman over 40 to need a repeat myomectomy for example. Over-Looked Fibroids: Some fibroids are so small they may be missed by the surgeon, but over time they can grow larger and become problematic. One study found that as many as 29 percent of women had fibroids left behind after myomectomy. However, not all these women will require repeat surgery as the fibroids may not grow bigger or cause problems. Amount of Fibroids Removed: The more fibroids you have removed, the more likely new ones are to grow, indicating a possible genetic cause. Childbirth: One study found that women who gave birth after myomectomy were less likely to develop new fibroids than women who did not. New fibroids appeared in 16 percent of women who gave birth compared to 28 percent of women who didn’t. Lupron Treatment: Hormone therapy using the drug Lupron is sometimes given to women to shrink the size of their fibroids before surgery. However, sometimes it can shrink the fibroids so small, the surgeon fails to spot them. One study found that 63 percent of women treated with Lupron still had small fibroids left over after surgery compared to 13 percent of women who didn’t take the drug. The danger of fibroid re-growth has made a lot of women to undergo surgery several times with each one having negative consequences on their health and reproductive system. Therefore, it is important that you search for an alternative means of treating fibroid in a natural form and which will ensure a total cure of fibroid and naturally block a new re-growth of fibroid masses. If you need such alternative, visit http://www.planbwellness.com/fibroid-remedy-kit/ to read about a better and natural way to get rid of fibroid and also improve your fertility. MOST COMMON REASONS FOR MISSED PERIOD If you are having your menstrual cycle regularly, this means that you are in good health. This is not something that every woman can relate to because some have problems with missed periods. In this article, we will look at some of the most common reasons for missed period. Women have eleven to thirteen menstrual cycles on an average each year. This number can decrease or increase under certain circumstances. A menstrual cycle normally lasts for twenty-eight to thirty-five days. You have to determine the cycle that is normal for you. Please note that menstrual periods can have irregular cycles in the first few years following the start and then again during the menopausal years. Most Common Reasons for Missed Period Hormone Imbalance: Women experience different physical changes during different stages of life because of the interaction between hormones such as progesterone and estrogen. Menstrual bleeding happens when uterine lining sheds, triggered when a released ovum is not fertilized by a sperm. In the event that progesterone and estrogen levels are higher or lower than normal, the processes such as the uterine lining thickening, the ovum releasing egg, and so on, are likely to be affected adversely. This imbalance in hormone levels can cause the menstrual cycle duration to change and various other symptoms might appear. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) : is a hormonal disorder and can cause abnormalities in the menstrual cycle. This condition develops when small cysts grown inside the ovaries. PCOS cause some women to have prolonged periods or no periods at all for a few months. When the time for their cycle comes around, they might experience premenstrual symptoms such as cramps without the bleeding. Menopause: The menstrual cycle generally stops when a woman reaches menopause. You can experience perimenopause before menopause starts. As you age, you might stop menstruating and ovulating. Stress: This is definitely one of the most common reasons for missed period and many physiological problems. If you think that stress is causing you to miss periods, you need to find ways to relax. Work Schedule: A change in your work schedule can also cause you to have problems with missed period. This often happens for women who work in shifts, especially when the schedule changes from night to day or vice versa. The shift changes will disturb in the functioning of your biological clock. This is why it is important to get enough sleep and rest. Weight Issue: You can be affected by a hormonal imbalance if you are obese or overweight. This condition can trigger a shift in your menstrual cycle. Alternatively, your period can get delayed if you are underweight. Excessive weight gain or weight loss within a short time period can also be one of the reasons for your irregular or missed periods. Medication and Drugs: Your period can be delayed by a change in your medication. If you have changed your medication or medicine recently, then you should talk to your medical doctor to know about the potential side effects. Infertility is sometimes caused by the use of birth control pills and it can also attribute to irregular periods. The birth control pills are known to cause this condition because they contain low amounts of estrogen. Pills with only progesterone can also cause you to miss periods. Miscalculation: The average menstrual cycle is twenty-eight days, but this differs from one woman to the next. If you have a history of abnormal or irregular periods and you know when you are ovulating, you can count fifteen days after your ovulation to know the exact date for your menstrual cycle. Excessive Exercise: Most women, especially athletes, have problems with missed periods because they are exercising rigorously. Health Problems: Most times, an illness can cause a woman to miss her period. Whether it is a long or short illness, it can still interfere with the regularity of your menstrual cycle. Thankfully, this is often a temporary problem that will go away on its own and you don’t have to use any form of medication. If your problem is not caused by the reasons above, you could be affected by health conditions such as thyroid, tumors, pituitary, and ovaries. These conditions are rare, but you still need to take good care of your overall wellness and health. Pregnancy: Of course, you cannot mention the causes for missed period without mentioning pregnancy. A blood or urine pregnancy test can be done to confirm if you are pregnant or not. Breastfeeding: You can also have problems with missed period if you are breastfeeding. Your menstrual cycle will return to normal as soon as you stop nursing your child. These are the most common reasons for missed period. If the above reasons are related to your problem and you are missing your period for about three months, you need to do something about ASAP. Visit www.planbwellness.com to read about a natural solution to get back your period. If you enjoyed this article, don’t forget tp share it with other women too. Complications And Management Of Fibroids In Pregnant Women In some women, uterine fibroids do not always cause obvious symptoms, meaning they can be asymptomatic at times. Consequently, the first time a pregnant woman may discover she has fibroids is when she goes for her first routine prenatal scan. Fortunately, most fibroids are harmless and cause few complications during pregnancy. Some women diagnosed with fibroids before becoming pregnant may worry that pregnancy will cause the fibroid(s) to grow more rapidly; particularly as excess estrogen hormones are a known risk factor. Recent research indicates that most fibroids (80 percent) do not actually increase in size during pregnancy and those that do, shrink back to their pre-pregnancy size again after childbirth. If a fibroid is going to grow, it is likely to do so in the first trimester of pregnancy. It is estimated that one in every 1,000 pregnant women has fibroids, although this figure may be underestimated. Fibroids are more likely to occur in women experiencing a pregnancy after 35 and those who underwent infertility treatment. It is estimated in both categories that the incidence rate could be as high as between 12 to 25 percent. Common Complications • Abdominal Pain Many women with fibroids notice increased abdominal pain when they become pregnant. This is due to a condition technically known as red degeneration of fibroids. It is caused by the hemorrhage of blood into the tumor which starves the surrounding tissues. It affects about 10 percent of all women with fibroids during pregnancy. Most commonly it occurs in the last trimester or when fibroids are over 5cm in size. Symptoms may appear similar to those of a twisted ovarian tumor or acute appendicitis. That is: sudden pain, a general feeling of unwellness and fever. The tongue may be dry and the pulse races. Constipation and tenderness in the area of the abdomen where the fibroid is located are also signs. Although, the pain is unpleasant, it is not usually anything to worry about. Do always report any pain or bleeding to yourpregnancy healthcare team. Bed rest for 3 or 4 days in addition to safe pain relievers (analgesics) is usually prescribed. • Abdominal Pressure As the baby grows and space is restricted in mother's body, fibroids may cause an uncomfortable pressure as they squeeze on nearby organs. A sharp pain in the legs and lower back may occur if nerves become restricted and compressed. • Type, Size and Location Receiving an accurate fibroids diagnosis is important as this will provide information on the type of fibroid growth, its size, how many there are, and where they are located. One study carried out in 1993 investigated 12,500 pregnant women with fibroids and discovered in the vast majority of cases (88 percent), only one fibroid was present. They reported an increased risk of pain and bleeding during pregnancy in women with large fibroids measuring 200cm cube volumes or more, or when the fibroid was located underneath the placenta. For this reason, knowing as much as possible about the type(s) of fibroid present will help a physician predict how it is likely to react during pregnancy. For example, submucosal fibroids, the least common type, can grow through the lining of the uterus and make the cavity inside the womb too small for the baby to grow in over 9 months. In fact nearly 40 percent of pregnancies with submucosal fibroids end up in miscarriage (often before the woman even knows she is expecting). Subserosal fibroids project out of the uterus wall and can grow quite large. Although they do not affect space inside the womb, they are more likely to result in abdominal pain or pressure. Pedunculated fibroids are attached to the uterus by thin stalks, they do not tend to cause problems in pregnancy although if the stalks twist (fibroid torsion), they can cause a severe sharp pain. Less Common Complications • Miscarriage The chance of spontaneous miscarriage is greater in women with fibroids. Research indicates that multiple fibroids increase the chance by nearly 24 percent compared to a single fibroid at 8 percent. The location of the fibroid is important as submucosal fibroids for example can increase the rate of miscarriage significantly. Why fibroids should increase the chance of miscarriage is not clear but it may be because the tumors increase irritation of the uterine or they have a compressive (squeezing) effect on the womb or they may reduce blood supply to the developing placenta and fetus. • Bleeding In Early Pregnancy The location of the fibroid tends to be the most important factor here. The closer the fibroid is to the placenta, the more likely bleeding is to occur in the first trimester. • Abruption Very occasionally, fibroids can cause placental abruption, where the placenta separates early from the wall of the uterus. In most cases, the abruption (separation) is not total so the baby can still receive an adequate supply of food and oxygen from the mother. However, if the abruption is severe, an emergency C-section delivery may be required. There are conflicting reports on the risk of placental abruption with fibroids; some research indicates it could be 3 times higher than women without tumors. • Placenta Previa This has not been hugely researched but initial findings indicate that the risk of placenta previa is twice as high in women with fibroids. • Preterm Labor Fibroids may slightly increase a woman's chance of pre-term labor. That is a labor which starts anytime after week 20 and before the end of week 37. If labor is premature, it is likely to be 2 to 3 weeks early which will cause little if any harm to the baby. Again, location of the fibroid(s) is important - the closer they are to the placenta, the higher the risk for preterm labor. Interestingly, fibroids do not appear to be a risk factor for preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). In fact studies indicate fibroids can reduce the risk of PPROM. • Fetal Growth Restriction Intrauterine growth restriction and fetal abnormalities are not normally caused by fibroids. In rare instances however, submucosal fibroids can restrict space in the womb cavity leading to some fetus deformities such as an abnormal twisting of the baby's neck (torticollis) or compression of its skull (dolichocephaly). • Childbirth And Delivery If you have fibroids, discuss delivery options with your doctor well in advance of your due date. If fibroids are particularly large or located in an awkward place, this may rule out a safe vaginal delivery. Your doctor may opt for a C-section instead. There is a slight increase in risk in postpartum bleeding (hemorrhage) in women with fibroids, so this will need to be monitored. How Are Fibroids Treated During Pregnancy? It is usually diagnosed by ultrasound scan during pregnancy, which is the safest procedure. Generally, treatment is to do nothing and to monitor any growth during subsequent prenatal scans. • Pain Management Fibroids pain is generally managed by bed rest, drinking plenty of liquids and taking safe analgesic painkillers (only when prescribed by a doctor). Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be used with caution, particularly if taken for longer than 48 hours in the third trimester when it is associated with a variety of medical complications including oligohydramnios. • Surgery Most experts agree that surgery for fibroids should be avoided where possible during pregnancy, especially in the first two trimesters. If necessary, however a myomectomy can be safely performed in the first and second trimester of pregnancy. It will only be considered where: • Pain is intractable and chronic probably resulting from a subserosal or pedunculated fibroid. • Where a fibroid is growing rapidly. • Where a fibroid over 5cm is located in the lower part of the uterine. This is a safe procedure, even in pregnancy, but it can result in the necessity of a C-section delivery due to concerns about uterine ruptures. Uterine artery embolization (UAE) is another possible procedure, but it may not be recommended for women who wish to retain their fertility. Will A Previous Fibroids Surgery Affect My Pregnancy? The removal of small fibroid tumors by surgery is not likely to affect any future pregnancies. The only possible issue is where extensive surgery was carried out to remove large tumors. This could weaken the uterus to the point where it cannot handle a regular labor. Your doctor may discuss the possibility of an elective C-section. It is also worth becoming familiar with the early signs of labor in case contractions start early. Fibroids and the complications that arise from them could be dangerous in some cases. That’s why it is advisable that you make use of a naturally and guaranteed alternative therapy to tackle them. 9 HABITS THAT MIGHT CAUSE MALE INFERTILITY The joy of a man is to reproduce and give birth to offspring that will carry his identity to future generations. But many men in Nigeria are already been robbed of this joy as they battle with the problem of infertility. No man is actually immune to infertility and that is why it's important to know the possible causes and remedies, and that's just what you're about to read in this piece. The infertility rate in Nigeria is said to have escalated from 15% to about 40% according to infertilitynigeria..com. A statement credited to Professor Oladapo Ashiru, the Medical Director of Medical Art Centre also confirms that the number of men presently with low sperm count in Nigeria is on the increase. The increase in patronage at orphanage homes by infertile couples having to queue for months before they can get a baby to adopt is alarming! What exactly are things that cause male infertility and how can they be controlled? We have some points below. 1. Keeping Mobile Phone in Pocket – we have written exclusively on this before(click here to read it). A finding by some researchers at the University of Exeter shows that keeping mobile phone in the pocket could affect sperm quality. They found out that exposure to cell phone radiation lowers sperm motility by 8% and viability by 9%. This finding is still a controversial one but it would be safer to keep away mobile phones from the pocket as much as possible. Radiationresearch.org gave the following recommendations in their save-the-males campaign: • Keep your mobile phone out of your trouser pocket • Do not text holding your phone at waist level • Limit your daily use • Switch it off at night (or as much as possible) Apart from radiation from mobile phones, other factors could also be responsible for infertility in males. In fact this was the argument of some scientists against the findings of the research from Exeter: that the singular action of phone radiation cannot be responsible for male infertility. The following are other things that can also cause male infertility; 2. Alcohol - It is said that alcohol affects the body’s ability to absorb zinc which is a nutrient vital for healthy sperm. It’s still unclear what quantity of alcohol is bad but it’s advisable to stay away from it as much as possible, especially heavy drinking. 3. Oxidative Stress - Another thing that can cause male infertility is oxidative stress. This is linked to lifestyle factors such as obesity, diet, pollutants, smoking and alcohol. Taking antioxidant supplements such as vitamin E, vitamin C, folic acid etc. is said to boost fertility. 4. Poor Diet - Diet should be holistic. A healthy diet will help maintain a healthy sperm count and a poor diet otherwise. It is advisable that one eats foods that will guarantee the general health of the body. 5. Excessive Exercise - Exercise is good for the body but its excess especially when it is combined with body building, steroids can decrease the production of testosterone and thereby lower sperm count. 6. Exposure To Heat - Heat from laptops, wearing tight underpants and other things that could increase the temperature around the testicles could cause low sperm count. As much as possible, it is advised that the general crotch area should be kept cool. 7. Untreated Infection - When STIs are not treated on time, it could result in infertility. Chlamydia infection, Gonorrhoea, Mumps etc can affect fertility and even cause sterility. 8. Exposure to Pesticides and other Chemicals - It has been found that exposure to pesticides and other harmful chemicals can affect sperm quality and quantity. Agricultural workers and fumigators in Nigeria need to be mindful of this. Some other chemicals like paints, adhesives and coatings have also been found to double the risk of fertility problems. Men working with chemicals are therefore advised to wear the appropriate protective gear and reduce their exposure to the chemicals as much as possible. 9. Drug Abuse - Sniffing drugs like cocaine and cannabis can impair fertility in males. It is said that “cannabis seems to have a dramatic effect on sperm, making them swim too fast and “burn out” before they reach the egg”. Some prescribed drugs can also affect fertility; it is advised that a man seeking to conceive should consult the doctor before taking any drug. Other things that could cause male infertility include stress, aging, radiation (x-rays, radiotherapy etc.), and excessive weight. With this understanding, it would be wise for Nigerian men especially those seeking offspring to take note of the things that could be responsible for infertility so that they can play their part in making sure they also reproduce in life. It may not be a jinx or spell or lack of God’s favour that is causing infertility; it may just be personal negligence and ignorance. The following healthy practices are suggested for any man having problem with infertility: • The more water you drink the better for you (at least five cups in a day). • The more fruits and vegetables you eat, the better for you. • The more natural your diet take, the better for you. Avoid junks! • Drink at least four glasses of water first thing on rising daily. • It would be good to have your supper before 7.00 p.m. • Avoid alcohol and sugar. • Take plenty of lime, lemon and honey. If you have been diagnosed of male infertility (such low sperm count, no sperm count, premature ejaculation, watery sperm and so on), you can read about ‘’natural way to improve male fertility’’. If you have any question or comment, you can use the comment box below for that. Don’t forget to share this write-up with as many people as possible. Stay Healthy And Never Give Up! Conventional treatment for fibroids often leaves many couples feeling disillusioned as very often, women are given options which are disappointing to say the least. Surgery and drug treatment will not cure fibroids permanently as they cannot eliminate what is causing them in the first place. This often leads to doctors recommending “watchful waiting” as they know that even after treatment, fibroids are likely to regrow. So, although, it is often thought that doctors are not being particularly helpful, the truth is that their options are limited. So, today, we want to talk about a way to let your diet help you in overcoming fibroid challenges and here is the link to the article - See more at: http://www.planbwellness.com/healthy-foods-get-rid-fibroids/#sthash.seJBMGpp.dpuf So, make sure you read it and don't forget to share it with others too.

MENSTRUATION - HOW DO ANTIBIOTICS AFFECT YOUR PERIOD Medical Doctors prescribe antibiotics for women to treat various conditions, mostly infections. When antibiotics are present in the body, they can affect the menstrual cycle in some ways, even in cases where they are not specifically prescribed to treat infections within the reproductive system. So, how do antibiotics affect your period? Read on to find out. Antibiotics can be used to treat several infections in the reproductive system, so they can cause changes in your menstruation cycle. Some things which antibiotics are used to treat occasionally in women include uterine infections, vaginal infections, and certain yeast infections. If you notice any change in your menstrual cycle and you have infections in your reproductive systems, then you are more likely to experience changes due to the nature of your infections instead of from the antibiotics. How Do Antibiotics Affect Your Period? Even though some researches were done in the past to determine whether or not the menstrual cycle is affected by antibiotics, the effects are not completely certain. Most women who use antibiotics have no change in menstrual cycles, whilst others who notice changes assume that they are caused by antibiotics. The possible effects that antibiotics could have on menstruation might not be connected to the antibiotics, but to the infections which they are used to treat. There are some women who think that the antibiotics caused delayed menstruation, heavier bleeding, and severe cramping. However, infections could also cause these conditions, especially if they appear in your reproductive system. As it pertains to studies done, medical specialists from Britain carried out a research during the late 1940s to show how penicillin antibiotic would affect women’s menstrual cycles. The results from the findings were not conclusive, but several women who took part in the study reported that they noticed some changes which include heavier menstrual bleeding and severe cramping than normal. In addition, some women noticed differences in the time when their menstruation starts as well as how long it last for. Although many women noticed some differences, some did not, so this meant that the study didn’t reveal a lot about the effects that antibiotics could have on menstruation. Antibiotics effects on menstruation are more likely to be related to various types of infections instead of the medications, but you should inform your doctor about any unusual changes. It is possible that certain antibiotics can cause changes inside your body which might affect your menstrual cycle. In cases where the changes in your cycle are very severe and unusual, a doctor might be able to help. Your doctor might probably do some tests to find another antibiotic that you are not sensitive to if he or she suspects that the medication is affecting your menstruation. In reality, there are now natural ways to tackle irregular menses and abnormal menstrual bleeding which will not affect your fertility in any negative way. You can click here to learn about a natural way to treat irregular menses and as well as abnormal menstrual bleeding. Don’t forget to share this with as many women as possible. SHOCKING REVELATION CONCERNING FIBROID GROWTH AND FOOD Currently, the average adult eating a typical modern western diet in a country such as Nigeria consumes approximately 67% of their total caloric intake from only 3 foods — CORN, SOY, AND WHEAT (and their derivatives). The question is - What percentage is considered a reasonably healthy amount of corn, soy, and wheat in the human diet? Answer - Based on hundreds of thousands of years of human history, and what the natural diet of our ancestors was (meaning what our digestive systems are naturally programmed to digest most effectively), the percentage amount of calorie intake from corn, soy, and wheat that would be considered healthy in human diet would probably be in the range of about 1% to 4% MAX of our total calory intake. Considering that modern humans are eating 67% of their total calories from corn, soy, wheat… you can see why we have massive problems in our health, and especially problems such as fibroid growth in women! It’s not a surprise that we have so many intolerances and allergies, specifically to soy and wheat (and gluten intolerance)… because the human digestive system was simply never meant to consume these substances in such MASSIVE quantities. Keep in mind that these massively high levels of corn, soy, and wheat in our modern diet is a relatively new phenomenon that originated from the economics of the multi-billion naira corn, soy, and wheat industries. It really has been all about the money for the businessmen… NOT about our health! By “derivatives” of corn, soy, and wheat, this means the food additives such as: • high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) • corn oil • soybean oil (hydrogenated or plain refined) • soy protein • refined wheat flour • hundreds of other food additives such as maltodextrin, corn or wheat starch, soy lecithin, mono and diglycerides, etc, etc This should not surprise you… consider how much soda or other sweetened drinks (with loads of HFCS) that the average person drinks daily… this is a LOT of calories from just 1 sole corn derivative. Even salad dressings, ketchup, breads, and 100′s of other foods contain loads of HFCS that cause fibroid growth! Also think about how many processed foods we have that are either fried in soybean or corn oil… and even if the foods are not fried in these oils, these oils are additives to almost every processed food such as chips, candies, cakes, salad dressings, tomato sauces, burrito wraps, corn chips, breaded chicken, etc, etc. This is a LOT of calories from these 2 other corn and soy derivatives… both of them EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY! On top of that, think about how much breads, cereals, pastas, muffins, and other highly processed wheat products that most people consume each day. Again, this is LOADS of unhealthy, blood-sugar spiking, nutrient-poor calories, that more than half of the population has some degree of intolerance to anyway. It Gets Even Worse! Not only are we eating 67% of our total calories from corn, soy, and wheat… but because of the economics involved (specifically with cheap corn and soy) we are also feeding most of our farm animals corn and soy now too… again amplifying the amount of corn and soy that passes through the food chain and (from a biochemical standpoint) ends up in our bodies. Probably, the 2 worst examples of this blatant mismanagement of our food supply is how our factory-grown chickens and cows are fed. Cows are fed mostly corn in factory feedlot farms, even though their digestive systems are only meant to eat grass and other forage. This makes the cows sick (as in E-coli - anyone?), alters the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of the fats to unhealthy levels, and also diminishes the healthy CLA fats that would occur naturally in grass-fed beef. All of these problems go away if our cows are fed what they were made to eat naturally – i.e. grass and other green forage! Our chickens are also fed a diet of mostly corn and soy and crowded in tight pens in horrendous conditions… when the fact is that a chicken was meant to roam around the outdoors eating a mixture of greens, insects, worms, seeds, etc. When chickens are kept inside in tight quarters and fed only grains, it leads to an unhealthy meat for you to eat, and less healthy eggs compared to free-roaming chickens that are allowed to eat an outdoors diet. Our food supply has gotten so screwed up that we’re even feeding our salmon and other farmed fish corn and soy… again because of the economics involved. How ludicrous is this, considering that fish are meant to eat a diverse diet of smaller fishes, worms, bugs, etc inside water. Again this makes farm raised fish unhealthy in terms of nutrition compared to their wild counterparts. Ladies and gentlemen, If you want to see something even scarier about farm-raised fish, watch this quick video about the toxic fish you might be buying (Though the video report was in China, but you will agree that what’s reported happen in Nigeria too). So even when you’re eating chicken, beef, and fish, you’re still essentially getting even MORE corn and soy into your body (from a biochemical standpoint) …considering that the cows, chickens, and farmed-fish ate mostly soy and corn. So it’s actually WORSE than just 67%, isn’t it? Why Is It So Unhealthy To Consume 2/3rds Of Our Calories From Corn, Soy, And Wheat? Well, this section could encompass an entire book, so to keep this short, I’ll just throw out a few random reasons… • It skews the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats in our diet to as high as 30:1, when a natural ratio of 1:1 to 2:1 in our ancestral human diet is considered healthy. • Problems with gluten intolerance (related to heavy wheat consumption that is rampant) • Problems with weight gain, blood-sugar swings, and reduced insulin sensitivity (and progression of diabetes) due to excessive refined corn and wheat flours, as well as HFCS in our diet • Soy and corn are the most genetically modified crops (which also allows more pesticides and herbicides to be used, which are usually “xenoestrogens”- do you remember xenoestrogens?) • Many of the pesticide and herbicide residues in these crops are xenoestrogens, which can increase “stubborn” fibroids. • Soy products and derivatives contain a double-whammy of xenoestrogens as well as phytoestrogens… again creating an environment in your body for fibroid growth. • The feeding of corn and soy to animals reduces the health and nutritional benefits (and micronutrient levels) of those animal products • and the list could go on and on and on… How Do You Avoid All Of This Overwhelming Amount Of Corn, Soy, And Wheat In Our Food Supply, And Finally Take Control Of Your Health? 1. Don’t purchase processed foods! It all starts with your grocery cart discipline… choose only 1-ingredient foods such as fruits, veggies, beans, eggs (from free roaming chickens), nuts, seeds, and meats from grass-fed or free roaming animals that are raised correctly. Organic is preferred. Only resort to junk foods or processed foods on a 1-day per week, i.e. your “cheat day” but ONLY when dining out… that way, the processed foods aren’t in your house to tempt you. 2. Get most of your carbohydrates from fruits and veggies instead of grains. 3. Avoid store-bought salad dressings as they almost always contain soybean oil and HFCS. 4. Make sure that your tomato sauces don’t have HFCS and soybean oils… look for sauces made with olive oil instead. Remember to avoid unhealthy canola oils too! 5. 5. Reduce your cereal, bread, and pasta intake by having these foods only on “cheat days” and stick to more of the 1-ingredient foods I mentioned in #1 above. I could go on with more examples, but I think that’s enough for now. So with all of this said… can your diet ever be perfect? Well, NO! Of course not! Nobody is perfect, and anyone can give in to temptation on occasions. However, I will recommend that your corn/soy/wheat consumption should only be about 2-4% of your total caloric intake compared to 67% for the average Nigerian woman. One way you can achieve this is to simply not bring any corn, soy, or wheat products into your house, so you are never tempted by it. Therefore, at least 6 days/week, you eat virtually no corn/soy/wheat, except for the occasional piece of sprouted grain toast a couple times a week (which is a better option than typical “whole grain” bread). You will, however, give in and sometimes eat breads, pasta, and even corn chips, etc. when you are dining out. Just see these as your cheat meals and try to do it no more than once per week. You should completely eliminate sodas and deep fried foods though…they are just TOO evil! What Does All Of This Have To Do With Fibroid Growth, You Might Ask? Well, everything! As you probably already know, shrinking fibroids naturally is not rocket science. It’s just a matter of undertaking a healthier, more organic diet. The moment you choose to live a healthier lifestyle, is the moment you will see tremendous changes in your body and then in your fibroid growth. And reducing your intake of the 3 foods mentioned in this article is your first step towards this life! As a way to help further on this issue, we are working on a book project at Plan B Wellness Center specifically for fibroid patients on how you can use food intake to control fibroid growth and eliminate fibroid totally. Fibroids are tumours that form in the uterus and affect one in three black women. While the word “tumour” can seem scary, fibroids are benign, or noncancerous. They can cause bothersome symptoms, such as heavy or painful periods, uncomfortable fullness in your abdomen, frequent urination, pain during sexual intercourse and lower-back pain. By seeking any necessary treatment, you can prevent complications, such as reproductive problems and early labour. Also in your struggle to overcome fibroid challenges, certain foods in a healthy diet may help keep fibroid from growing further and minimize your symptoms and some of such foods are listed for you below… 1. FRUITS AND VEGETABLES – Fruits and vegetables provide rich amounts of disease-and inflammation-fighting nutrients and fiber, which help promote appetite and weight control. These factors are important because inflammation and excess pounds can contribute to fibroids. In a study published in “Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition” in 2013, researchers analyzed the diets of premenopausal women and found that eating rich amounts of fruits and vegetables lowered the women’s risk of developing fibroids. A high body mass index, on the other hand, increased the risk. 2. BEANS AND LENTILS – Legumes, such as beans and lentils, are top fiber sources, making them prime choices for weight control. They also have a low glycemic index, or a mild impact on your blood sugar. High-glycemic carbohydrate sources, such as sweets, can cause inflammation and increase fibroid growth, according to Dr. Christiane Northrup, a physician and women’s health expert. Replacing these foods with nutritious, low-glycemic carbohydrate sources, such as legumes, can help minimize your symptoms. As plant-based protein sources, beans and lentils also provide nutritious alternatives to fatty meats, which increase inflammation. 3. UNPROCESSED GRAINS – White foods, such as starchy white bread, increase insulin production in your body and influence the way estrogen is metabolized, thereby increasing your risk for fibroid symptoms. Skip refined starches and stick to whole, unprocessed grains for improved uterine health and protection from fibroid growth. Whole grains are also low-glycemic and richer in antioxidants, fiber and protein than their processed counterparts. Nutritious examples include oats, brown rice, wild rice, quinoa and barley. 4. LOW-FAT DAIRY PRODUCTS – Uterine fibroids are up to three times more prevalent in black women than white women, according to a “Today’s Dietician” article by registered dietician Megan Tempest, published in May 2012. Some evidence suggests this is likely because black women consume significantly fewer dairy products than whites. The protective properties of dairy, according to researchers who’ve investigated this link, lie in the ability of calcium to inhibit cell growth that leads to the tumours. If you tolerate dairy products well, incorporate low-fat varieties, such as milk, yogurt and cottage cheese, into your diet. If not, choose lactose-free fortified milk or a non-dairy equivalent, such as almond milk. Limit high-fat items, such as whole milk and fatty cheeses, which contribute to inflammation. 5. FLAXSEEDS – Flaxseeds contain phytoestrogens — natural substances with estrogen-like properties. Experts say most women can benefit from phytoestrogens, which block the estrogen receptors on the cells in fibroids, potentially minimizing symptoms and lowering your risk for fibroid growth. Flaxseeds also provide fiber and omega-3 fats, which guard against inflammation and tumour growth and help rid your body of excess estrogen. We hope you take this advice on choosing the right choice of food and food combination in your diet daily. This, more than anything else, will improve your chances of getting result from the treatment you are taking. Click here if you need a natural treatment option to get rid of fibroid without surgery. 6 STEPS TO AVOID SPERM LEAKAGE AFTER SEXUAL INTERCOURSEhttp://www.planbwellness.com/female-infertility-remedy-kit/ |
ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AND TUBAL BLOCKAGE When a woman has damaged fallopian tubes, it increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy, also called tubal pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized egg is unable to pass to the uterus, so the embryo grows in the fallopian tube instead. This happens in one out of every 40 or 50 pregnancies and is most likely to occur around the eight week of pregnancy. Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy The symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy may initially feel like symptoms of a normal pregnancy, but can quickly change. Symptoms include: • vaginal bleeding • sharp or stabbing abdominal cramps • pain on one side of the body that may spread through your belly • dizziness, weakness or fainting If you have these symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, see a doctor immediately! The major health risk of ectopic pregnancy is that the fallopian tube will rupture and lead to internal bleeding. You may need emergency surgery to reduce the risk of heavy bleeding (hemorrhaging) if the tube ruptures. Ectopic pregnancy is a leading cause of pregnancy-related death; however survival rates have drastically improved due to advances in early detection. An ectopic pregnancy cannot be saved. If the tube has not burst and the pregnancy hasn’t progressed very far, you may only need laparoscopic surgery to remove the embryo and repair the damage. If, however, the tube has ruptured, it may have to be removed. Pregnancy after Ectopic Pregnancy You can have a normal pregnancy after an ectopic pregnancy. If you still have both fallopian tubes, you have a 60 percent chance of having a successful pregnancy in the future. Even if one fallopian tube was removed, the remaining one should be enough to let you get pregnant again. Your doctor may suggest you wait from three to six months before trying to conceive. Even if you have problems with your fallopian tubes, it is possible to become pregnant. Surgery can help by removing a blockage, reconstructing the damaged end of a tube or removing scar tissue. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is another way of trying to become pregnant. This advanced reproductive technology doesn’t repair the tubes but bypasses them by transferring the embryo directly into the uterus. The disadvantage of these procedures is about their success rate and the money involve. The success rate is so low in this part of the world and the procedures are not affordable for most families. I have heard about cases of couples taking loan to carry out IVF more than times and even with no success. The Safest Option Your safest and the cheapest option is to go natural. Authentic alternative therapies have proven to be reliable and helpful lately in the areas of male and female fertility with little or no risk and with high success rate. It is also important to have healthy dietary habits in place, prior to becoming a parent, so you can pass these good habits on to your child/ren. Good dietary and lifestyle habits will help ensure your child has a healthy life. Medical Fertility Treatment Options As committed as we are to natural health remedies, we are the first to recognize that for some infertile couples – there is a need for integrative medical treatments as well. Western medicine has a plethora of options available to those who need a little assistance in trying to conceive. Starting with medicated cycles that will assist in ovulation, and going all the way to In Vitro Fertilization (where eggs are combined with sperm in a lab and healthy embryos are then transferred directly to your uterus), there are medical interventions which can typically improve your chances of conception a great deal. Once the root cause of your infertility is understood, a reproductive endocrinologist can discuss the best treatment options for your particular situation. Egg and Sperm Donation Over the last 30 years, sperm and egg donation has become a viable option for those who are unable to contribute these biological materials on their own. For some, past illnesses or medical treatments may have rendered one or both partners sterile, and for others, life circumstances – such as being single or in a homosexual relationship – may mean that only one half of the genetic equation is available. In these circumstances, sperm and egg donation can help to create the child that otherwise would not have been able to exist for an infertile couple. Embryo Adoption There are two types of embryo adoption options. With the first option, embryos are donated from couples who have completed past IVF, and now have surplus embryos. The second option, sometimes referred to as “double donor” embryo adoption, utilizes embryos created from two separate anonymous donors; one sperm donor and one egg donor. Embryo adoption scenarios can have varying levels of openness, with complete anonymity in some cases, and regular contact in others. For an infertile couple, this option provides the ability to still carry a child for those who are willing to forgo the genetic link. There are many legal and psychological aspects to be considered in this type of adoption. Fertility clinics providing this service often require and offer services to educate couples in these areas prior to going through their program. Surplus Embryos When couples have remaining embryos after completing their own IVF cycles, they have three options for how to proceed with those embryos. They can either: 1. Save them for future cycles. 2. Destroy them. 3. Donate them to other infertile couples. Most clinics have a waiting list for donated embryos, and unlike donated eggs or sperm – there can be no money exchanging hands for these donations. Studies show that couples who used a screened donor (egg or sperm or both) are more likely to donate their surplus of embryos. Surrogacy Under certain circumstances, it is not safe or possible for a woman (or either partner in the relationship) to carry a baby. When this is the case, surrogacy can still provide the possibility of a genetic child and the ability to feel invested in the pregnancy from beginning to end for an infertile couple. Surrogates agree to carry a child for the duration of the pregnancy, allowing you to attend doctor’s appointments and abiding by your rules in terms of how you would like the pregnancy to be maintained. This can offer infertile couples some level of the control they have lost, while still providing the opportunity for that genetic connection. Surrogacy agreements are typically fairly pricey, and it can be important to have a lawyer involved to ensure that all parties are protected. But when having a genetic link to your child is important, this can be a viable option for creating the family that may otherwise seem impossible to build. Adoption For some individuals and infertile couples, the goal is simply to have a child, and the genetic connection feels minor in the pursuit of that goal. In those cases, adoption can often provide the road to family building that you have been seeking. There are several options in terms of adoption, including foster care adoption, domestic adoption, private adoption and international adoption. While many people hope to adopt infants from birth, there are also thousands of older children currently in foster care system looking to find the right home, for those willing to open their hearts to less traditional adoptions. Barriers to adoption can sometimes feel difficult to overcome, including steep expenses and the fear of a birth family changing their mind after placement, but no two adoption scenarios are the same and there are usually accessible options available for every family hoping to pursue this path to parenthood. 10 SUPER FOODS FOR WOMEN Here are the details about the 10 super foods every woman should include in their diet plus their advantages for good health and wellness. Most of the health challenges facing women today can be combated and be overcome by consuming food items rich in essential nutrients… 1. Calcium Calcium is all about building strong bones. It’s really important as women age. Dairy products, calcium-fortified drinks such as soy milk, and fortified juice are good sources. Women who are under 50, pregnant, or nursing should get 1,000 milligrams a day. Women over 50 need 1,200 milligrams a day. That equals three servings of low-fat, plain yogurt or nonfat milk. 2. Iron Iron helps get oxygen to cells. Too little iron leads to anemia, which can make you feel tired. Good sources include lean beef, turkey, and chicken, as well as beans and fortified cereals. Here are some ways to get the iron you need: • Women 19-50: 18 milligrams/day = 3/4 cup 100% fortified cereal • Women 50+: 8 mg/day = 1 cup soybeans • Pregnant women: 27 mg/day = 3/4 cup fortified cereal + 1 cup soybeans + 1/2 cup spinach If you have anemia because of too little iron, you may need to take iron pills. 3. Vitamin D Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium, which you need for strong bones. If you’re over 60 and have a higher chance of getting osteoporosis, or thinning bones, you can be tested for it. Vitamin D is added to some dairy products and is found in fatty fish, like salmon and tuna. Women under 70 should get 600 international units (IU) of vitamin D daily. That's about 3 ounces of salmon and 1 cup of fortified orange juice. Women over 70 need 800 IU -- 3 ounces of salmon, 2 cups of milk, and 1 cup of fortified orange juice. 4. Folic Acid Folic acid helps make DNA and helps your cells divide. It's very important during pregnancy for a healthy baby. Find folic acid in green, leafy vegetables, fruit juices, nuts, and beans. Women should get 400 micrograms daily. You can often get that from a serving of fortified cereal or bread. Women should get 600 mcg during pregnancy, or 500 mcg while breastfeeding. If you’re pregnant or plan to be, you should also take a folic acid pill. 5. Sodium A high-salt diet can raise your chances of high blood pressure and stroke. These can lead to heart problems. Women should keep salt under 2,300 milligrams a day -- about 1 teaspoon. Even if you don't add salt, many processed and restaurant foods already have a lot of salt. If you're 50+, African, or have diabetes, high blood pressure, or kidney disease, keep sodium below 1,500 mg. 6. Heart Health A heart-healthy diet helps keep a fatty substance called plaque from building up in the arteries around it. To keep your heart in good shape: • Eat fruits and vegetables, fat-free or low-fat dairy, whole grains, lean meat, poultry, and fish. • Choose polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, found in fish, nuts, and vegetable oils. • Limit saturated fats, cholesterol, sodium, and added sugars. Avoid trans fats. 7. Protein Protein is an important building block for bones, muscles, and skin. In the body, proteins do many things like fighting germs, breaking down food that you eat, and controlling your metabolism. Fish, poultry, red meat, eggs, and nuts are good sources. Women should get 46 grams of protein every day. You can get that from ½ cup of milk and two 3-ounce servings of lean meat. 8. Fiber Fiber helps you digest food and helps prevent heart disease by lowering cholesterol and blood sugar. Beans, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain breads and cereals are good sources. Women under 50 should get at least 25 grams of fiber every day. 9. Vitamin C You need vitamin C for healthy bones and skin. Vegetables, such as broccoli and red peppers, and fruits -- especially citrus fruits – are good sources. Women should get 75 milligrams of vitamin C every day or 85 mg during pregnancy. You can easily get that by drinking 3/4 cup of orange juice or eating 1/2 cup of sweet, red pepper. 10. Omega-3 Fatty Acids These "good" fats may lower your chance of heart disease. You should eat at least two servings of fatty fish (salmon, trout, herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines) a week. Flaxseed and walnuts have omega-3s, too. A recent study suggests people who eat a handful of nuts a day live longer and weigh less than people who don't. But take it easy -- too much of any food can cause weight gain. My goal in writing this article is to help you read your body and listen when it is telling you something is out of balance. The menstrual cycle is one of the best ways the body communicates about your fertility. The details of your menstrual cycle can be used as a window into your fertility. Telling you just what is going on, where an imbalance might lie, how your reproductive circulation is, if there is a hormonal imbalance and so on. Missing A Period Missing one period is no cause for alarm. The hormonal balance is very delicate and can be affected easily by stress. It generally will reset itself. Missing one or a couple of periods does not imply infertility necessarily as you can still ovulate even if you are not menstruating. Missing a period for 6 months or more is called amenorrhea and is covered below. Short Cycles Short cycles can cause fertility issues due to lack of ovulation, too short of follicular phase or luteal phase, lack of nutrition, deficiencies, anemia or low body weight. Traditionally, one of the best herbs that has been used for luteal phase defect is vitex. In studies vitex helped 83% of women experiencing luteal phase defect. Longer Periods A longer period may be an indication of hormonal imbalance and/or a failure to ovulate. Progesterone secreted by the body after ovulation normally helps to stop excess bleeding because of its effect on preserving the uterine lining. If estrogen is high or progesterone low, bleeding may continue longer than usual. Click here to read more about a therapy that has been used for balancing longer periods and excessive bleeding successfully. Heavy Menstruation This is known to be caused by prostaglandin imbalance and/or over-stimulation of the uterine lining from estrogens (estrogen dominance). Traditionally, this imbalance can be helped by: • Regulating/balancing the hormones with the use of herbs and diet • Supporting the liver in excreting excess estrogen • Modifying the diet can also help to modify the prostaglandin balance. Nutritional imbalances have also been linked to prolonged or heavy bleeding. Vitamin A deficiency may be a contributing factor in heavy menstruation. Studies have shown vitamin A intake to significantly decrease the amount of blood and the duration of the menses. Another important vitamin, vitamin C, has been shown to help reduce heavy bleeding by strengthening the capillaries, helping to reduce their fragility. One study showed an 87% success rate in reducing of heavy bleeding with vitamin C. Click here to read about overcoming heavy menstrual flow. Light Menstruation With Strong Cramping Generally, the cramping could be helped by using herbs that have an anti-spasmodic, calming effect on the uterus. If there is light, bright red menstruation, this may also be a sign of a lack of circulation to the uterus (called a ‘cold uterus’ in Traditional Chinese Medicine). Bright Red Blood Generally bright red blood indicates a healthy period. Rejoice! Dark, Brown Or Thick Blood Thick dark blood that looks old or is brown is old blood left over from the previous cycle. This may be caused by a sluggish menstrual flow, lack of uterine tone or low uterine circulation. Pale Blood, Watery Or Thin Menstruation Pale pink, thin blood traditionally signifies poor blood quality which can be enriched by using blood building herbs, hormone balancing, and increasing circulation. Eating a healthy diet may also be beneficial. Clots Clots are traditionally seen as a sign of stagnation created from excessive flow that is not being expelled. Spotting And Bleeding Between Periods Spotting is a tricky subject as it can be caused by many different factors. Most times it is not something to be concerned about but some of the causes may be: • Disturbance in the hormonal/balance – feedback loop • Failure to ovulate • Endometriosis • Abnormalities of the cervix • Ovarian cysts • Ovulation has occurred – some women experience spotting during ovulation due to the oestrogen changes at mid-cycle. • Hormonal contraceptives • Excessive exercise • Poor nutrition No Period (Amenorrhea) It can be quite frustrating if you are trying to get pregnant and yet have no period. Having a healthy cycle is step one for boosting your fertility naturally and being able to get pregnant. There are a couple of reasons your cycle may be irregular in women in their reproductive years such as stress, dietary deficiencies, low body weight, getting off of birth control pills, hormonal imbalance, may be entering menopause, or be experiencing other underlying health issues. Since the lining of the uterus is not being shed, it is very important to clear out the old blood and establish a healthy cycle again. This can be done naturally and effectively with herbs and nutrition. I have talked with many clients who have been offered synthetic estrogen and all sort of drugs to get there periods going again… taking synthetic estrogen for this issue is like using a sledge hammer on a thumb tack. Natural therapies such as the one offered by the Menstrual Disorder Remedy Kit and the Hormonal Imbalance Remedy Kit have been found helpful without any negative side effect. It is very normal for women who are in perimenopause to experience sporadic cycles. Perimenopause is the time leading up to menopause. As perimenopause progresses toward menopause, it is normal for menstrual cycles to become irregular, or absent due to hormone levels fluctuating. As ovarian reserve diminishes and egg health declines, hormone levels change preparing the body for menopause. This is completely normal. A woman who has not had a menstrual cycle for a year or more and is between the ages of 40-55 is considered to be menopausal. If you have difficulties with your menses, click here to read about a natural way to get your regular menses back. Also for those that have been diagnosed with Hormonal Imbalance, you can click here to read about steps you can take to balance you reproductive hormones and improve your fertility. If you’re still wondering if you are too old to have a baby, it means you haven’t given up yet – and that’s a good thing! The truth of the matter is that the age that corresponds to ‘too old’ refers not to an age, but to your hormone status if you’re female. In menopause, your natural hormone levels are too low to support a pregnancy, so having a child may mean adopting one, though some infertility clinics do offer IVF through egg donation for women who are in menopause and are still trying for a baby. If your hormone levels are still within the normal ranges for a woman in her childbearing years, your body may still be able to support a pregnancy. Trying To Conceive At Over 40 – Toxic Load & Nutritional Profile Matter When It Comes To Aging There are two secondary things to consider if you think you are too old to have a baby. Both revolve around whether or not the aging of your body is suitable for starting a new life. Aging is influenced by two factors: toxin levels and vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Remember though that both may be overcome. What Is Your Body’s Toxin Level? Around 2005, researchers at the Environmental Working Group decided to test the umbilical cord of 10 newborns for pesticides and harmful chemicals. They found that 287 industrial chemicals were present and concluded that “industrial pollution starts in the womb.” Chemicals clearly disrupt hormonal function. They may cause DNA mutations and cancer and are linked to a variety of other diseases, including PCOS, endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Toxins Left continually swimming in your bloodstream while you’re pregnant leaves the potential risk for harming your unborn baby. The older you are, the more likely it is that you will have higher levels of these toxins in your blood unless you’ve done your ‘homework’ on detoxification. Why is it so important that you detoxify your body? Many studies report that environmental chemicals can interfere with your ovaries ability to perform its functions, called ovarian reserve depletion. Some of these chemicals may even cause infertility. (Curr Pharm Des. 2014 Feb 5.) By eating organic, wholesome non-GMO foods, you can equip your body with enough detoxification potential to slash the chemical load down remarkably. You can also implement a cleansing protocol specific to improving your chances of conception. Fertility Cleansing is specific to aiding the body in removal of these chemicals in preparation for pregnancy. And that will give you extra mileage if you’re 40+ simply because you won’t be like the average 40-year-old who does not think about detox, let alone do it. What Is Your Vitamin And Mineral Status? Foods are always your best medicine, but often not enough. If you have vitamin and mineral deficiencies, pregnancy and post-pregnancy may become extremely challenging if not impossible. If you’re over the age of 40, get the best possible information on your vitamin and mineral status before you get pregnant. This means all of them; not just vitamin D, folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6. There are sophisticated lab tests that will test for several of these at one time. Talk to your doctor about this. Knowing if you have deficiencies before pregnancy is going to help you know those you need to take care of, which may increase your chance of achieving and maintaining pregnancy. A hair analysis will screen for all the minerals, plus let you know the status of your body’s accumulation of heavy metals. It provides a beginning foundation of knowledge on what is occurring with your nutrients. If you have challenges concerning pregnancy, you should read about the Female Infertility Remedy Kit which is guaranteed to help you overcome infertility in all forms. One of the most basic concepts of natural conception is learning how to recognize ovulation signs in order to pinpoint your fertile window month to month. This is typically accomplished through fertility charting on a fertility calendar. By recording various signals from the body day to day, over the course of several months, you will begin recognizing the patterns which indicate ovulation and your most fertile days. For many women, however, the idea of charting can sometimes seem complicated and overwhelming. It doesn’t have to be. If you know what to look for, including understanding basal body temperature, fertile mucus and cervix position, all it takes is a little time and patience to begin putting the signs together. How The Menstrual Cycle Works Before we delve into the nitty-gritty of charting on a fertility calendar, let’s do a quick review of the phases experienced during your monthly cycle. This will come in handy when we begin discussing how your basal body temperature, cervical mucus and cervix position change during each of those phases. The four phases of the menstrual cycle include: The Menstrual Phase: The very first day of menstruation counts as day one of your cycle. Usually, this phase can last anywhere from three to seven days. The Follicular Phase: During the follicular phase, your uterine lining begins to thicken in preparation for potential implantation. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) levels also increase, prompting the maturation of follicles in your ovaries. It is those follicles which will eventually develop into eggs throughout the follicular phase, with only a single egg being released during the next phase of the cycle. The Ovulatory Phase: Ovulation occurs when an egg is released from one of your ovaries around mid-cycle – anywhere from day 11 to day 16 typically. From that point, the egg has approximately 24 hours to become fertilized. The Luteal Phase: Immediately after ovulation, the body experiences an increase in progesterone, fueled by the corpus luteum; the follicle responsible for releasing the egg. This occurs during what is known as the Luteal Phase. Should that egg become fertilized, the increase in progesterone aids in the process of implantation, which typically takes place anywhere from five to ten days after ovulation. If fertilization fails to occur, or if implantation is for some reason hindered, the body will cycle back to the menstrual phase. Remember that the average menstrual cycle lasts 28 days, but normal cycles can be anywhere from 21 to 35 days. In addition to that, variations of three to five days in your cycle length from month to month are nothing to worry about. As long as your cycles remain fairly normal for you, pinpointing the patterns of ovulation simply requires learning about and remaining aware of the three basic signals your body will send you. How To Recognize The Three Signals of Ovulation During any given cycle, your body is shifting and changing as it moves through the four phases we have already discussed. The three ways those changes will be most obvious to you are through elevations in your basal body temperature, consistency changes in your cervical mucus, and shifts in the position of your cervix. Recognizing those changes and identifying your most fertile days is possible by remaining cognizant of those three ovulation signs: 1. Basal Body Temperature Your Basal Body Temperature, or BBT, is what is known as your baseline temperature. This is the temperature you should be able to measure first thing in the morning, prior to getting out of bed or partaking in any activities or conversations which could alter your temperature. Your Basal Body Temperature is important because it varies by a small percentage day to day throughout the course of the month as a result of the hormone changes your body experiences during the different phases. After about three months of monitoring, you will notice a peak which occurs immediately following ovulation. This can help you to estimate when ovulation will occur in the future, allowing you to identify your fertile window. Monitoring your BBT means keeping a thermometer by your bed for easy access in the mornings. A digital BBT thermometer is typically best, because they are precise enough to catch the slight shifts in temperature which may otherwise be imperceptible with a more basic thermometer. You should aim to take your temperature at the same time every day, always immediately upon waking up. Remember that this is supposed to be your baseline temperature, so it is important to take it before engaging in any other activities at all. 2. Cervical Mucus The second sign of ovulation can be found by monitoring your cervical mucus. Not all women are comfortable with the idea of touching and examining these bodily fluids, but your cervical mucus changes throughout the month in order to become more hospitable to sperm as you approach ovulation, turning into what is known as fertile mucus. This makes it a valuable resource to consult when it comes to determining when your fertile window may be. After menstruation, start by getting a small amount of cervical mucus on your fingers or a piece of toilet paper each day, preferably after you have showered and when there are no other lubricants which may be present. Begin monitoring it for consistency, noting whether it is stringy, slippery or sticky from day to day. You will notice that just after you finish menstruating, you won’t have much cervical mucus at all to observe, but by the second week of your cycle, it should begin to increase. At first, it will likely appear thick and sticky, with a white or yellowish coloration. The closer you get to ovulation and your fertile window, however, the more clear and stretchy it will become. This is what is considered as fertile mucus, as it paves the way for sperm to travel easily to the egg. Fertile mucus is often also referred to as “egg-white cervical mucus”, because of the resemblance it has to egg-whites. 3. Position of Cervix Perhaps slightly more uncomfortable is the monitoring of your cervical position, but again – this is yet another way to determine when you are nearing ovulation naturally. The hormonal fluctuations in your body cause your cervix position to shift, moving up and down while also becoming more or less firm, depending on where you are in your cycle. It can take some time to gain a complete understanding of what you are feeling when you monitor your cervix position, but daily repetition may help you to begin noticing the difference throughout the course of your cycle. Start by finding a comfortable position and sticking one or two fingers inside your vagina. Reaching back against your vaginal wall, you want to find the small opening about a fingers-length back. This opening, your cervix, is where you will notice changes based on which phase of your cycle you are in. As you near ovulation, your cervix will feel higher than it does immediately following menstruation. It will also feel softer to the touch and more open, preparing for the entrance of incoming sperm. At first, you won’t likely be able to decipher any of these differences, but with time (and as your comfort level grows) monitoring your cervical position will become something you can do quickly and easily at the start of each day. Fertility Charting Now that you know what the ovulation signs that you should be looking out for are, let’s discuss how charting comes into play. By documenting the signals you observe from day to day, you will begin to recognize patterns in your basal body temperature, cervical mucus and cervix position which can help you to estimate your fertile window for future cycles. This allows you to time intercourse in order to achieve the best possible chance of conception. Create a chart starting with the first day of your period as day one. On this chart, make notes pertaining to the signals you have observed each day, including what your BBT was, and what you have noticed about your cervical mucus and cervix position. What you should begin to see with your temperature is an increase of approximately 0.4° Fahrenheit after you ovulate, remaining slightly elevated for the remainder of your Luteal Phase. Seeing all these signals together, should help you to start recognizing the days of your cycle when ovulation is typically occurring month to month. Endometriosis is a common female reproductive system issue that affects 24 to 50% of women who experience infertility. These women develop tissues outside of the uterus on other reproductive organs in the abdominal cavity that looks and acts like endometrial tissue. This misplaced endometrial tissue grows and sheds in response to the hormonal changes of the menstrual cycle resulting in internal bleeding and the tissue attaching to other organs that share the abdominal cavity with the uterus. There are theories about the causes of endometriosis. However, there is no conclusive evidence. These theories range from – tissue backing up into the fallopian tubes during menstruation which is referred to as “reverse menstruation” (it then attaches to other organs in the lower abdomen and grows) – to having predisposing genetic factors to the disease and the possibility that the immune system may activate cells to secrete factors which stimulate endometriosis growth. What is known is that estrogen, namely an excess of it, fuels endometriosis and it is critical to explore ways to reduce your exposure to excess estrogens and chemicals called xenohormones that have a negative impact on the body’s ability to balance hormones naturally. The Progression of Endometriosis Endometriosis is classified into one of four stages depending on location, size, degree to which it has spread, and depth of endometriosis implants; presence and severity of adhesions or bands of scar-like tissue that attaches to organs outside of the uterus; and the presence and size of endometrial tissue growths or cysts on the ovaries. While the presence and severity of symptoms will differ for each woman with endometriosis, below is a general description of each and ways in which you might support yourself through these symptoms. First and foremost, it is wise to learn and implement some of the most effective diet and lifestyle changes to support the body in dealing with endometriosis. The Four Stages of Endometriosis Stage I or minimal – is characterized by a few isolated endometrial implants outside of the uterus and a minimal number of mild adhesions, if any. Stage II or mild – is characterized by more and slightly deeper implants less than 5 cm in total and a minimal number of mild adhesions. Stage III or moderate – is characterized by many deep implants, small endometriomas or cysts on one or both ovaries, and some filmy adhesions or scars. Stage IV or severe – is characterized by multiple deep implants, large endometriomas or cysts (chocolate cysts) on either or both ovaries, and multiple dense (thick) adhesions often involving other organs. A Natural Endometriosis Support Plan May Include: • Relaxation techniques and exercise • Dietary and lifestyle changes to support pain, reduce inflammation response and promote estrogen metabolism • Herbal pain and inflammation support • Support for reducing excess estrogen • Supplementation for hormone balance • Reducing adhesions and future growth Visit http://www.planbwellness.com/endometriosis-understanding-different-stages-endometriosis/ to learn more about how you can get all the aforementioned inform of a natural endometriosis management and treatment.
