If u see me reading any book it must be a book on business. Me nor they read books like "have hope" - "believe in your self" "make your life count" blah blah blah... Never, I don pass those levels.... Have read nothing less than a 59books on core business issues. Books like "competitive advantage" books like "its not the Big that eats the small but its the Fast that eats the slow" - books like "Why small busineses fails and what to do about it", "How to have the largest market share" "Good to Great companies" "fortune 500 companies" "Winning More Clients" " Sales Dog" "E-myth" " Guerrilla Marketing" "books frm authour like Bill gates(business at the speed of light), warren buffet (buffetology) and all other guys...And this is not mere talk. Name any good business book u know from any author either a Nigeria, American or British and I will summarize its content for u. But these days no time to they read all this 300 - 400 pages books. Na application be ko-ko..... But its been helpful though. The knowledge from those books put together has given me this Improvising attitude and personality that I can boldy say anywhr any time, throw me into any "City" (remember na city I call am nor be Village o) giving me My laptop and like 10k cash and I will never call Home again for money.. Na knowledge na once u have it can't leave u.

E get one of my big bros, na 1st class candidate frm wan sch in Ghana. That guy they change Job like water. He started his business as a consultant. While he was a consultant he told us then that he want to leave his consulting business to get a Job. An he said to Us before he even got the Job that He will work in a telecom company and from their proceed to an Oil company.. Play- Play -Play-Play, Before we know it this Guy don they work for Globacom, he used six months in Globacom then we here say Him don enter Shell Oil company. Presently, He is in porthacourt now working with shell. Infact he left Globacom without giving them a month notice. because before u leave some of these big company u have to give them 2 to 1month notice so they can find a replacement, failure to do that u could be charged to court 4breaching d terms of employment (so he had to forfeit one month salary with Globacom when shell came calling because he didn't inform Glo earlier). Big companies want to go for the best guys. And they see 1st class candidates as one...

A good number of companies in the Nigeria we are in today most times gives credence to certificates with high grades. Even though, they still give on-the-job training.
Now methinks anyone going into the university with the aim of graduating with anything less than a 2.2, as far as I'm concerned is just a sorry case. Yeah, there are always exceptions, no doubt. Human beings are always so quick to look out for exceptions ''sheybi lagbaja did not go to school and he's now making millions of dollars''. ''So so so person dropped out of school and he's now the CEO of so so organisation'' bla bla yada yada.
I really do not think one should live his life based on exceptions! If you nor wan go school again Better enter studio begin dey sing ''shake ya bombom show me your waist'', Nigerians go buy am.

'Do or die' or whatever anyone chooses to call it.... People have made First class and they have not died. So? Moi, I'm not only gonna 'do or die', I'd 'do and get'. Yes! Lemmi make first class first and let's see what happens. It's sure not gonna be easy no doubt (the only thing that I know comes easy is NOTHING), but you can be sure it'd be real worth it at the end.

I have a friend. He is a uniben ecostat graduate and also a chartered accountant. He served last year. At the momment this guy works at Jumia.Com (the new Nigeria's biggest online store.) Though he has a 2.1 n also a chartered acctnt. We were having a chat yesteday evening an he was sharing his Job experience with me. He said his immediate boss is an Havard graduate and the boss will tell them. "We know ur are a professional accountant and that was the bases we employed u, So do the work."

U see that's why a company will not employ an ssce holder in lnplace of a bsc holder all because of effeciency. Even if they they are both efficient. There will always be is a bench mark to start with b4 the require u to show ur efficiency..

And I still don't agree with you on G.P being a do or die affair. I once heard of someone who had problems passing his school exam. No matter how hard he tries, he just couldn't pass his exams well. He eventually graduated from UI with a third class.
However, this guy is an extremely bad programmer. He solves real life problems using programs with ease. He went for several programming competitions and won. As I speak with you, the guy is in millions n is no longer in the country again.

Let's say he had left programming then and taken G.P as a do or die affair. He would maybe at the most finished wt a 2.1 which I don't think will fetch him the millions and job satisfaction he presently has.

There is something u guys don't get, In life there is something called expected occurrence and Unexpected exception. And for every rule there are exceptions. And those exceptions ar less likely to happen. For example a pregnant lady is expected to give birth to a baby that has no defect but sometimes on some occasions some baby are born with defect. So we can say a little percentage of defect can occur in 100 babies born from a certain group of women. That is for every 100 babies born 90 may be without defect why 10 will have defect. And that 10 there are the "Exception."

So in life we shld focus and plan more on what has the highest chance of happening and plan on it than focus on what has the lowest chance of occurrence (which are the Exceptions).
Now putting what u said above into this rule. That guy u said has a 3rd class was only lucky to be whr he his now. He is just in the exceptions, his case rearly happens and it will be disastrous if u plan using his own occurrence as a case study for urs. because the likelihood os his luck happening to someone else is just too low.. How often do u think a 3rd class gets a Job? The general answer is "its very hard (which is d often occurrence) why some people can be lucky (which are in the Exception).

Therefore, For a 3rd class, The chances are too slim. So its not advisable for an undergraduate to follow his plan in to-to because it could be very disastrous and he may not be dat lucky to be in the exceptions.. You can only use his case as a guide for ur self only if u have already fallen into his kind of trap, but for An undergraduate listening to that guy he shld use him as a corrective measure to strive for a better grade.

And to the Guy that said the Gtbank aptitude test is not real. It happened to my Friend Live. The 1st class stdnts were asked to move to another room, they were nt supposed to write the test. They've moved automatically to the next phase of the Interview process.

I wld rather prefer to read anyother course then go anyone of this I.T professional sch to learn more on programming. Centers like "NiiT" or Hiit".. These are recognised I.T institutes that can teach u everything within a year on programmer than any four walls of the university. So am I going to waste the precious 4yrs there..
What am trying to say here is.. I can't go n read computer engeneering in a university, I wld rather read business admin or banking an finace then go do computer engineering at one of those institute above.....so brother u shldnt be regretting u didn't further in programming at yabatech rather find time to enrol in one of these Computer Programming Institute like Aptech and Learn. They teach better than any university institute..I guess u knw that..

The human body is its very nature extremely lazy, u have to have one particular thing that motivates and spurs you on. In my own case, it was the lady.

My brother forget all this u are saying.. To me GP is a do or die affair.. I hold it with my life...what are u saying the labour market is a testament to. That's a big lie.. Ur grade frm sch is very important to the labour market. Ur grade make the way Employment wise.. But if u say maybe life in general, it may be a level playing ground for everybody but ur grade gives u an edge in one form or the other..

With all humility have met some Top MD's of big companies, Several HR manager, and so many consultants. And they've showed me things and have seen and heard things..

I could remember sometimes someone was sharing with me how he went for an interview at Gtbank and every one sat to write the aptitude test. Few minutes b4 the test commenced an annoucemnt was made by the officiating staffs that " iF you are a first class student in this hall pls standup, move to the other room (automatic qualification to the next stage of the interview process). Now. The other grade had to write that aptitude test..

That's just one scenero another one is, at one point in time ur grade would determine if u will be selected to top a department in an organization by some powerful persons or not. For instance, 2 dedicated employees who studied the same course let's say Bsc accounting but one has 1stclass n the other 2.1. Now the 2 of them has performed outstandingly well for the organization which they have worked in for like 10years and the organization need to promote one of them to head a department, who do u think they will choose? Knowing that they both have the same Job experience and studied the same course but one has a first Class the other a 2.1..

So what am trying to say here is to do everytin u can to come ot with the best grade in sch because in the Long Run it will be a deciding factor somewhr along the line in ur life journey. U neva can tell

For me If truelly I get admitted in uniben, am gonna fight for that grade aiming at 1st class or atleast( which I don't pray for) 2.1...... I gonna fight to get all this with everytin I have, everytin I could do even. sleepless night isn't a problem, the goal is the target. Even as am tying this I could feel the emotions of the fighting spirit as its already gathered momentum in me only to be given the enabling environment to be unleashed.. In everytin I do I strive to be among the top 5. And this is not jst motivation, from General observation of my life events, I may not be the 1st but am always in the best 5, except may be am cheated or there wasn't a fair playing ground, but whatever wld need my input for an outcome then there is this Grace that makes sure am among the best. And seriously I just pray that Grace doesn't leave me...



Now this is a warning to my co department mates, I don't just see u as a colleague, I see u more as a competitor...don't get it twisted, me seeing u as a competitor simply means I wld keep improving myself (jacking all I could) to be ahead of u!

If u understand products and market domination then u wld know what I mean. That's why the formely popular Bic biro has been knocked off by Leo Smart and Leo smart is almost been knocked off by Lucky and OK biro. That's why techno phones are dominating in the low income segment of mobile and knocking off the Almighty Nokia, that's why Blackberry isn't just able to stand the fierce competition brought about by Samsung and Apple in the Andriod market.. I remember yrs ago.. I use to have this perception, that "Never, I will not run second to any girl or woman if I find myself competing with them, be it in acedemics or sports or anything until I was humiliated. Though the perception is still there o but mehn the event of that day was humiliating..

It happened when I registered few years Ago to participate in the Globacon Marathon race held in Lag precisely 2008..jexux, when I arrived the take off venue see as women Yapa..they plenty like water for my mind I still they say Lie Lie woman nor fir pass me for running matter but to my suprise as we started running, I was claiming Voltron but when time reach wey me come don tire, jexus, see as those babes just they pass my side and I had no more energy to challenge them, the wan wey even pain me pass na wen was small girl, smallllllll girl just jogged pass me with serious speed..I felt humuliated.

Anyway sha old things have passed away. Hav won somany other challenges frm that date till now to rebuild my confidence of "No woman can win me in any challenge on anything"..Never.

Infact I fit fear male soldiers but female soldier Never... ;d sofar na woman, nothing!!

Sometimes, I would cry and would feel like "I should have, could have bla bla bla" but a question would overwhelm these-the question, "what if the gift of life had gone?".

Oh, the pain I feel most is these f**cking 365 days that will be added to my decades on earth. There's no need for 'sorry msgs' cos we can't draw back the hands of time.

Brotherly, I know how it feels, I know it can be painful. You can ask Danky how I was posting on my facebook wall talking to my self like in regrets. Everyone was jst asking what went wrong, but I couldn't tell them anytin, I ignored pings, Fb msg, text msg of pple trying to show concerns to know what was bordering me all because unaabs first list was released............. Boss, I was heavily hurt, full of regrets. And all of a sudden the admission shocker frm uniben came in and a "partial" smile covered part of the face..

Sometimes we make some decisions which comes with an hurting after effect. but its just about keeping up with the faith and never losing hope because God still restores lost yrs..
