United States federal authorities recently unearthed an enormous drug-smuggling tunnel that stretched from a house in Mexico to an abandoned KFC restaurant in Arizona, according to Fox News.

49 Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have appended their signatures against the failed attempt to impeach the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

This is coming up after the Senator representing Kwara South, Rafiu Ibrahim, had alleged that senators belonging to the Parliamentary Support Group, PSG, received the sum of $1m each to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

President Muhammadu Buhari took time off late Wednesday afternoon to visit the proposed presidential campaign office for next year’s election.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has formally announced his departure from Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, made a similar announcement at about the same time.

Mr Saraki made his announcement on his official social media handles.

“I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

Nigerians have largely expected Mr. Saraki’s defection from especially after all the federal lawmakers from his Kwara State left the APC last week.

An Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Tuesday remanded a 47-year-old man, Premie Imafidon, for allegedly slapping his wife to death.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, remanded Imafidon in Ikoyi Prisons and ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.



Ajibade adjourned the case until Sept. 3. The accused is facing a charge for murder.



Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Maria Dauda, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 15, at 7:00 p.m., at No. 25, Apata St., Agege, Lagos.

Senate president Bukola Saraki has dismissed reports that he was offered juicy appointment ahead of 2019 elections by the Muhammadu Buhari's administration to convince him to stay put in the All Progressives Congress. Saraki, in a statement signed by his special adviser (media and publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, on Sunday, July 22, said he is more focused on the future of Nigeria and does not require personal gains to serve the country. Barring last-minute change of plan, some members of the Senate will announce their formal defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress HH (APC) to different opposition parties on the floor of the Senate either at the tail end of today’s sitting or Thursday.

Since the emergence of a splinter group peopled by the aggrieved members of the APC about two weeks ago and subsequent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by opposition political parties for a coalition to dislodge the APC in 2019, not a few lawmakers have kept their thier plan to defect close to their chest as they were not willing to announce their defection in the absence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Saraki, who had travelled to the United States on official assignment since last week, returned to the country on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s plenary session.

APC Senators from Kwara, Adamawa, Kogi, Benue, Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger, Kebbi, Kano, Yobe, and other states are expected to announce their formal defection to opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and ADC, among others.

Some voters in Ekiti state on Friday trooped to Government House in Okesa area Ado Ekiti, the capital to collect N4000 bribe with the presentation of their voter’s cards.

According to a report by The Nation newspaper, the bribe was being doled out to the people by Governor Ayo Fayose to make them vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Prof. Kolapo Olusola in Saturday’s election.



The report said thousands of people stormed the seat of power through the Deputy Governor’s office and they marched uphill to the office of the governor.

Thirty Four opposition political parties have formed a new alliance to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 elections.

The parties announced a new name – Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Monday when they met at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The announcement followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the leaders of the merging parties, in their bid to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Mr. Gabriel Suswam, former governor of Benue State, in the sum of N500 million with one surety in like sum.

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrested and dismissed the police officer, who allegedly killed a National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) member, Miss Angela Igwetu.

Igwetu was allegedly shot by the police officer, Inspector Benjamin Peter on Wednesday around Ceddi Plaza in Abuja.

The Chief of Staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Monday dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Ahmed who was appointed by Mr Saraki in 2017 said his decision has nothing to do with the Senate President.

He described his decision to leave APC as a difficult one.

He said he took the decision after due consultation with members of his Akida faction of APC in Kaduna.

The Akida faction also has a senator, Shehu Sani, as member. Mr Sani has also threatened to leave the APC.

Mr Baba-Ahmed, while addressing journalists in Kaduna on Monday, said he has sent a letter of withdrawal from APC to the party chairman in his ward.

He explained that he was not leaving APC to join another party but believes the ruling party has under performed.

“This statement is to inform the public of my resignation from APC. I have sent a formal letter to this effect to chairman of my ward.

“This has been a very difficult decision, to leave a party I helped to form and made my humble contributions to put in power.

A Federal High Courtsitting in Abuja  has granted fresh bail to former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd).


This is the sixth time bail is granted the former NSA since his trial began in 2016.

The trial judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu described his continued detention as an abbe ration to the rule of law.

His bail conditions include the sum of N200m and two sureties who must be on grade level 16 in the Civil Service.
