As bad as we say Nigeria is, there are still good and trustworthy people in it....only they are very few! (Apologies Mr Edward Onomavwe if you are seeing this) I wanted to send 15k to a friend whose account number is just figure 5 different from Edward's Opay account on Friday (27th February 2026) and after discovering it, i called him severally but the number was completely dead. So i went on FB, searched his names out, got chatting with him about the incident and how he was going to refund the money. On Saturday, after we had spoken on Messenger, he sent me his hotline, asked me to call him through it and requested i send my account number for a refund. At this juncture, I would have been pleased if he had sent 10k out of the money. Surprisingly, Edward sent me the 15k without removing a dime - all the way from Warri, Delta State. Thanks Edward, your type is very scarce. If i have opportunity to meet PBAT, i think you deserve a national honour.. Thanks to a good and compatriot Nigerian!!!

Governor, President and whoever are all human beings and can answer the call of nature just like any other humans... |

I just did a transfer using bank transfer code and it dawn on me that narration of the purpose of the cash transaction is missing in their feedback message - or what do you guys think? @Seun, please add "Banking'' to the list of Nairaland fora (forums) please. dakun!

Have you guys seen this dangerous windscreen "decorations" commonly seen on Danfo/Korope buses in Lagos (especially)? Probably the agencies (FRSC, LASMA, Police, VIO, etc) in charge of motoring in the State are closing their eyes to see this breach of safety measures for reasons one cannot explain. The ones that are bare are having fatal accidents not to talk of those whose windscreens have been blinded to almost the quarter of the designed size of the windscreens. The attached picture was taken this morning inside a Korope i took and i could barely see anything in the front of the vehicle despite that i sat at the passenger seat beside the driver - as it rained! |
STATEHOUSE STATEMENT STATEMENT BY HIS EXCELLENCY, BOLA AHMED TINUBU, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, ON THE CESSATION OF THE STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS STATE My Fellow countrymen and, in particular, the good people of Rivers State. I am happy to address you today on the state of emergency declaration in Rivers State. You will recall that on 18th March, 2025, I proclaimed a state of emergency in the state. In my proclamation address, I highlighted the reasons for the declaration. The summary of it for context is that there was a total paralysis of governance in Rivers State, which had led to the Governor of Rivers State and the House of Assembly being unable to work together. Critical economic assets of the State, including oil pipelines, were being vandalised. The State House of Assembly was crisis-ridden, such that members of the House were divided into two groups. Four members worked with the Governor, while 27 members opposed the Governor. The latter group supported the Speaker. As a result, the Governor could not present any Appropriation Bill to the House, to enable him to access funds to run Rivers State's affairs. That serious constitutional impasse brought governance in the State to a standstill. Even the Supreme Court, in one of its judgments in a series of cases filed by the Executive and the Legislative arms of Rivers State against each other, held that there was no government in Rivers State. My intervention and that of other well-meaning Nigerians to resolve the conflict proved abortive as both sides stuck rigidly to their positions to the detriment of peace and development of the State. It therefore became painfully inevitable that to arrest the drift towards anarchy in Rivers State, I was obligated to invoke the powers conferred on me by Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, to proclaim the state of emergency. The Offices of the Governor, Deputy Governor, and elected members of the State House of Assembly were suspended for six months in the first instance. The six months expire today, September 17th, 2025. I thank the National Assembly, which, after critically evaluating the justification for the proclamation, took steps immediately, as required by the Constitution, to approve the declaration in the interest of peace and order in Rivers State. I also thank our traditional rulers and the good people of Rivers State for their support from the date of the declaration of the state of emergency until now. I am not unaware that there were a few voices of dissent against the proclamation, which led to their instituting over 40 cases in the courts in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Yenagoa, to invalidate the declaration. That is the way it should be in a democratic setting. Some cases are still pending in the courts as of today. But what needs to be said is that the power to declare a state of emergency is an inbuilt constitutional tool to address situations of actual or threatened breakdown of public order and public safety, which require extraordinary measures to return the State to peace, order and security. Considered objectively, we had reached that situation of total breakdown of public order and public safety in Rivers State, as shown in the judgment of the Supreme Court on the disputes between the Executive and the Legislative arm of Rivers State. It would have been a colossal failure on my part as President not to have made that proclamation. As a stakeholder in democratic governance, I believe that the need for a harmonious existence and relationship between the executive and the legislature is key to a successful government, whether at the state or national level. The people who voted us into power expect to reap the fruits of democracy. However, that expectation will remain unrealizable in an atmosphere of violence, anarchy, and insecurity borne by misguided political activism and Machiavellian manipulations among the stakeholders. I am happy today that, from the intelligence available to me, there is a groundswell of a new spirit of understanding, a robust readiness, and potent enthusiasm on the part of all the stakeholders in Rivers State for an immediate return to democratic governance. This is undoubtedly a welcome development for me and a remarkable achievement for us. I therefore do not see why the state of emergency should exist a day longer than the six months I had pronounced at the beginning of it. It therefore gives me great pleasure to declare that the emergency in Rivers State of Nigeria shall end with effect from midnight today. The Governor, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, the deputy governor, Her Excellency Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the speaker, Martins Amaewhule, will resume work in their offices from 18 September 2025. I take this opportunity to remind the Governors and the Houses of Assembly of all the States of our country to continue to appreciate that it is only in an atmosphere of peace, order, and good government that we can deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. I implore all of you to let this realisation drive your actions at all times. I thank you all. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
Out of concerns and worries for how Nigerians handle national asset i decide to pen these issue of high importance.. About 2 to 3 years ago, fenders of Apapa Ports Quay apron - meant to absorb shock when ships berth were replaced, almost a 100 units of them with heavy chains, numbering 4 per unit used to secure them in the event of falling off, either jammed by ships or as a result of broken bolts. Today, all of those chains have been removed by the men disguising as fishermen. talking from safety aspect, if any of those fenders falls, nothing suspends it and can be very injurious to ship hull. The questions are many: 1. who are these ''fishermen''? 2. where is the NPA surveillance to ensure key ports infrastructures are kept safe? 3. where are these chains sold to and who are the buyers? Government agencies in charge of ports security should please wake up to their responsibility!

Very good initiative from the PBAT Administration. Hopefully, in the next couple of months, the poor shall start to breathe. up FG! |
My take on this (mess) is that the OP caused his woes. Look at this statement ''I opened a business for her with almost 3 million, the business crumbled, she doesn't want to do anything, she stays home all day just pressing phone'' You can never see any lady in their group respect husband, appreciate anything the husband does or be satisfied with whatever. Reasons are that: 1. There are virtual husbands that are already teaching her things, 2. She may have been making money virtually by even selling her nudes to prospective virtual husbands 3. She can never think of doing anything meaningful with her life since there is a life-support coming from someone - the real and virtual husbands, And guy, let me ask, you may even be the one buying data for her right?? when she is not studying virtually or transacting any meaningful business online? Guy na u dey do yasef! My Opinion She needs go back home to go face am - make she go learn the remaining home lesson wey she no get and then the other lessons from the yahoo husbands wey full outside. I tell you, she go run back come beg you #mycent |

Bugaje, as much as this could be true, let me ask you, what has the party done and is currently doing to heal its wounds, mend the cracks and buy-back the loyalty of its members? |
WHEN PARENTS FAIL – HOW LACK OF DISCIPLINE IS CREATING A GENERATION OF LOST SOULS There was a time when parents raised warriors. Now, they raise weaklings. A time when children feared their fathers’ discipline. Now, children insult their fathers online. A time when a slap from your mother could reset your entire future. Now, mothers watch their children twerk for clout. The world changed—not because evil became more powerful, but because parents became weaker. Children no longer have boundaries. No fear. No respect. No discipline. And the result? A generation that mocks God, worships vanity, and embraces sin with pride. BRUTAL THREAD: 1. CHILDREN WITHOUT DISCIPLINE BECOME ADULTS WITHOUT SELF-CONTROL A child who never hears “NO” at home will hear “NO” from life when it’s too late. The boy who was never told to control his desires will become a man addicted to sex, gambling, and laziness. The girl who was never told to respect herself would become a woman who exposes her body for money and attention. The child who was never corrected for lying will become an adult who deceives, manipulates, and steals. If parents don’t discipline their children, the world will punish them later. 2. THE FALL OF FAMILY VALUES IS THE RISE OF MORAL DECAY What happened to parenting? Mothers used to teach daughters how to be women of dignity. Now, they encourage them to “secure the bag” by any means. Fathers used to teach sons how to be responsible men. Now, they are absent—either too weak, too distracted, or too scared to lead. So children are now learning from TikTok instead of home, and the internet is raising a generation with no fear of God and no sense of direction. 3. PARENTS WHO SPOIL THEIR CHILDREN ARE DESTROYING THEM Giving your child everything they want is the fastest way to ruin them. A child who never worked for anything will grow up lazy and entitled. A child who was never disciplined will grow up thinking life has no consequences. A child who was never corrected will grow up believing they can do anything and get away with it. Now, we have a world full of adults who can’t handle rejection, can’t handle failure, and can’t handle life. 4. WHEN PARENTS CHOOSE FRIENDSHIP OVER LEADERSHIP, CHAOS FOLLOWS Many parents today want to be their child’s friend instead of their leader. So instead of saying: ❌ "This behaviour is wrong!" They say, "She’s just expressing herself." ❌ "You must work for what you want!" They say, "Let me buy it for you." ❌ "This is not acceptable!" They say, "I don't want to hurt their feelings." And just like that, we have a generation of weak people who cry over small problems and break down when life gets tough. 5. THE NEW GENERATION LOVES PLEASURE BUT HATES RESPONSIBILITY Discipline used to be normal. Now, a child calls it "abuse" when a parent corrects them. Now, teachers can’t discipline students because "it’s too harsh." Now, young people demand freedom but reject accountability. Everyone wants to enjoy, but no one wants to work. And this is why: The streets are full of lazy men chasing quick money. Social media is full of young girls selling their bodies for attention. Homes are full of broken families because nobody was raised to be a good partner or parent. 6. WHEN CHILDREN LOSE DISCIPLINE, THEY LOSE THEIR FUTURE. Many young men today are addicted to masturbation, pornography, and cheap pleasure—because nobody taught them self-control. Many young women today expose their bodies for social media likes—because nobody taught them self-respect. Many young people today are broke, weak, and mentally unstable—because nobody taught them how to survive hardship. The devil is not the problem. The parents failed. 7. IF WE DON’T FIX PARENTING, THE WORLD WILL GET WORSE. If we continue like this, the next generation will: ⚠️ Have no morals. ⚠️ Have no work ethic. ⚠️ Have no fear of God. Society will collapse—not because of demons, but because of poor parenting. BOTTOM LINE: If you are a parent, discipline your children. If you are young, discipline yourself. Because the world will not be kind to those who were raised without discipline. Let’s raise warriors, not weaklings. Pls forward this to family and friends, especially to those with young and teenage children May GOD help us all. |
Purity too |
They should also criminalize big billboards (electronic or pictorial) mostly mounted across the road, directly facing drivers and distracting them. |

SmartPolician:Honestly that should have been the way out... but my question on this subject is why do we have Hausas and Fulanis at the helms of affairs in Education Commissions and the likes in Nigeria, when their region has the highest % of out of school children? Are we getting anything right at all? I think PBAT should also look in this direction and reverse the trend. |
Madam, this is my candid opinion...and I am going to start by narrating a story that happened in my neighbourhood. Mama Ada (not real name) and her kids had been long abandoned by her husband who works at a place far from the State. She became so poor that she nearly started begging. At some point, she went into cooking at events (Olopo) and other stuffs just to keep her home. This she experienced for over 10 years before she started attending a Church in the neighbourhood, where i undoubtedly believe God intervened in her matters and brought her husband back home. Today, mama Ada is as young as when she was in her late twenties (at over 60 years). So, Madam, go and tell your problems to God. He will surprise you like He did for Mama Ada. |

I read a story of how certain church, bakery, eateries and nightclubs in Lagos were shut down due to noise pollution by LASEPA and i can see that there is no state functioning like Lagos State. I am a resident of Sango-Otta in Ogun State (address withheld), route a complaint through a senior staff of the agency of how a church (not original owner of the property) would organize programs, vigils, etc at the dead of the night with the use of generator, loudspeakers, drums and noise would be everywhere, disturbing our sleep. The person gave me a number which i called and i was told i needed to pay certain amount for mobilization for them to come for inspection, even after i have sent a recorded audio of one of such midnight programs the church held. So when i read of the many worship places that LASEPA has shut because of noise pollution, i just cannot but ask if Ogun State has any Environmental Protection Agency at all?

The guy deserves to be punished really, but then who will please help tell the Police Commission that the guys need trainings from time-to-time. Surprisingly, it could be accidental discharge due to inexperience/mishandling that killed that young promising lady. Please, people with power and means, kindly help in this direction because who knows who the next victim will be... |

@Golden 147 it is obvious you have the solution to this issue you brought here, why then did you want advice? I can see you trying to educate even the old, married and experienced advisers in your matter... But, if you need follow the path of wisdom and land safely in the land of understanding, listen to these: 1. keep the girl (because it shows you love her) 2. add values to your self ( get another degree on what you major in, etc) 3. Let the girl in question finish her programme, get a job and watch her grow into what you desire of a wife (if she is for you, she won't leave you) 4. As for her brothers, never underestimate what they can turn out to be/do for you in future - they may later be successful and help you back A word is enough for the wise! |
@Righteousness2, I have always found your posts, comments and explanations on issues interesting and factual, but on this, you missed it! I am not a SCOAN member, but even if the Spirit revealed anything to you on this man, you could have done better and acted like a Deacon(ness) you are called to be by keeping such to yourself alone. Remember, 'Judge no man, so that you will not be judged' |
