While narrating what happened today at federal high court in Abuja, the lead counsel to Indigenous People Of Biafra, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor lamented about the attitude of the Presiding Judge, according to him, “I entered inside the court this morning with Barrister Maxwell Okpara, only to be informed that the same judge(Abdul Kafarati) that granted the prayers for the proscription of IPOB has postponed the matter to a later date”. Malami had asked the court to proscribe the group.
While on Friday 22nd of September, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sued the Federal government of Nigeria and the Nigerian army for proscribing its activities and tagging it a terrorist organisation.
IPOB prayed the court to set aside the order of injunction proscribing its activities.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, approved the payment of pension for police officers who were granted presidential pardon in 2000 after serving in the defunct Biafran Police during the 30 months Nigeria Civil war.

The personnel who were granted presidential pardoned by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo have till now not received their pension.

However, a statement released by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) on Wednesday said President Buhari has approved the payment of pension for the personnel. It said a total of 162 officers will be payrolled while 57 Next of Kin who have also not been paid their death benefits will be paid in the first batch.

It said the first batch of the payment will commence in Enugu on Friday the 20th of October, 2017.

According to the statement, “The general public would recall that Nigeria witnessed an ugly civil war between July, 1967 and January, 1970 and as a result of that unfortunate period in our history, some members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police and the Paramilitary Officers who took part with the Secessionist were dismissed from the service.

“The dismissal of those officers was commuted to retirement in year 2000 through a Presidential Amnesty granted on 29th May, 2000 by the Administration of the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR.

“A verification exercise was conducted for the pardoned officers by the defunct Police Pension Office and recently PTAD on one hand and the Police Service Commission on the other.

“Despite the Presidential pardon and verification of these officers, many of them remained unpaid years after the pardon.

“However, the present administration under the able leadership of President, C-in-C of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has graciously given approval for the payment of pension entitlements to these officers and their Next of Kin.

“PTAD is commencing the payment of pension benefits to the retired war affected police officers on Friday 20th October, 2017 in Enugu.

“162 officers will be payrolled and 57 Next of Kin who have also not been paid their death benefits will be paid in the first batch.”

Parents desperately seeking to take their kids home at success academy at Lagos bus stop, Aggrey Road.

There was a pandemonium in Portharcourt today as it was alleged that military personnel invaded some schools in continuation of their operation crocodile smile “medical outreach” in Rivers State.
A student of Zion college in diobu area told portharcourttimes.com that the Soldiers both men and women came knocking their school gate, but the gate mam refused to open the gate, instead he went and report the situation to the school authority.
This brought panic and anxiety to the students who are now anxious to go home.
After sometime they left only to come back in full force, ordered the gate man to open the gate, he refused, he was tear gased.
The loud cry of the gate man attracted the attention of the students and teachers. Teachers now start making phone calls to parents to come and take their children home.
It was when the parents started arriving the school premises that the military men entered their van and speed off.
The story is the same especially around old Portharcourt Township, parents are seen running at different directions to pick their children. Meanwhile, army has denied ever trying to vaccinate school children, instead they came to donate books.

“I have seen a few video clips and posts regarding the so called charitable immunisation exercise allegedly being carried out by soldiers in Anambra. I have also heard that children are being immunised without parental consent.
To me this is criminal. It can only happen in a primitive country. For starters you cannot immunise a child without parental or guardian consent. It’s child abuse and assault. Secondly you must know a child’s immunisation history before you administer a vaccine to avoid repeating those that the child has already developed immunity against, unless a serological test confirmed that the immunity is absent or partial. Also some children may have allergies which could lead to fatal outcomes if they are vaccinated. You cannot also vaccinate an ill child and some vaccines contain live organisms which can cause fever and even febrile convulsion if unchecked, so the parents need to be properly counselled prior to vaccinating their wards.

According to one of them, “army people came to our school this morning with ambulance and some other medical equipment and drugs,as we settled down in our different class rooms after morning devotion, we were informed to be ready for medical checkup by military doctors outside, I believe that was how my today schooling ended, I don’t want to contact monkey pox”
However, the state government has stopped the medical program.

The governor of Anambra state, Chief Willy Obiano recently took his campaign for upcoming November 18th governorship election to a popular market in the state. He covered a lengthy area of the market trying to woo the the traders and customers who came to buy goods by talking them, buying some stuff, Shaking hands with people, gifting some people money etc.
Scanty voices was heard shouting "Akpokuodike" which is the governor's popular chieftaincy title, while "Osodieme" is for his beautiful wife who accompanied him to the market.
Some of the worrying part of the whole thing is heavy and intimidating presence of security around the governor and the fact that many people in the market seems not interested in whatever he was doing.
Yes, Governors deserves adequate security, but we've seen popular Governors like Fashola, Donald Duke, Amaechi, Kwakwanso and current Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike pass through bigger crowd with less security personnel.
Is he really popular?
