PoliticsPdp/atiku "Structure" Only Good For Elections? by PortHardcore(op): 6:22pm On Aug 30, 2020
I was listening to Maiyegun podcast earlier and he made a GREAT point.

How comes Sowore's AAC cant win elections because of "STRUCTURE" but its always Sowore that is being opposition to the ruling elites?

PDP supposedly has "STRUCTURE" but they can't use that structure to demand good governance from APC?
They can't use that structure to force the Governors in the North to stop stealing from their people?
They can't use that structure to bring an end to the amaljari?

And where was APC activism when PDP was in power?
APC can win elections but they can't demand for the arrest of PDP looters?

So the "Structure" is only good for getting votes?

Bros,Sowore was here and you guys mocked him.

This sounds very vague.
Also Nigeria doesn't have a lot of courageous and visionary people.

What is the first step to executing your plan?

I actually have a way to execute my plan.

Just imagine a Sowore as head of an independent Efcc,Abi?

Your plan won't work because nobody believe in Nigeria like that to risk themselves.
Plus when these people do step up, Nigerians mock and riducle them.

This is probably my last reply if you still don’t get what I’ve been spelling out literally to you. What’s so hard to understand that you can’t have an independent EFCC in a corrupt government? Even your independent judiciary and senate are controlled by the executive, what’s so difficult to understand about that?

Your independent governors are removed by the Supreme Court controlled by the executive. What’s so difficult to understand?

Bros, even if your constitution states that EFCC is independent, that’s just paper, EFCC will not be independent unless we kill corruption, this should be easy enough
Ok.

So what's your plan on killing corruption?
PoliticsRe: An Independent Efcc by PortHardcore(op): 7:43pm On Jul 14, 2020
socialmediaman:
Bros you still don't get it. Over 50 - 80% or more of those working in EFCC and most government agencies got the jobs based on letters of recommendation from the presidency or national assembly members. They are quota candidates. If you like apply from now till tomorrow, the presidency tells the EFCC who to select for voting, who to disqualify and who won the election after voting. In fact the anointed candidate may already be running the office by proxy before the election is concluded. Na waoh. You really believe in your country, Goodluck!
This shows that you don't understand my topic.

This topic is about making the EFCC an independent organization, what you wrote here is showing the opposite of what i proposed.

Your paragraph displays an EFCC that is dependent on corrupt politicians for quotas and recommendation letters.

Wait is B.o.k.o.h.a.r.i a banned word on Nairaland? grin

It seems you didn’t read my comment well. So the public votes and the election will be credible? Will it be conducted in the US by their electoral officials? Or you believe your votes count in Nigeria?
Why are you stuck on the voting process?
Political parties don't choose the candidates for the leadership of the EFCC.

Tinubu is not going to forward any names, neither is Atiku or Buhari.

We will have a public advertisement just like you would have for say a managing director job.

The current leadership of the EFCC will review applications to see if the applicant is qualified for the role and then the public will vote for who they want to run the EFCC.

Now tell me how any politicians are going to hijack the above process.
PoliticsRe: An Independent Efcc by PortHardcore(op): 2:31pm On Jul 14, 2020
socialmediaman:
Who will choose them? You? Does your choice matter in Nigeria? The same corrupt politicians will write the numbers and tell you who you chose, case closed. The president can decide to defund the agency and they start doing his bidding like the ‘independent’ judges and house of assembly are currently doing
Yes the leadership of the EFCC would be voted on.
Basically,we would have many applicants, and the public votes on who would run the EFCC.

The budget would be dynamic, based on total hours worked.
So if we had 1000 members working 3000 hours each year, the budget would be a multiple of 3million,say N3Billion.
The new charter would strictly forbid any government agency from setting the budget of the new EFCC or appointing any EFCC members.
PoliticsAn Independent Efcc by PortHardcore(op): 8:47am On Jul 14, 2020
Its obvious that the EFCC is not a useful agency in fighting corruption.
We can't have corrupt politicians chosing the Chairmen of the EFCC.
We can't have corrupt politicians deciding what cases to pursue and what cases not to pursue. undecided
We can't have thieves in the ruling political party being untouchable.

I mean wow, wtf, why would a country thats suffering from endemic corruption, have an anti-corruption agency that's under the control of corrupt politicianshuh

So,how do we go about making the EFCC completely independent;
The public chooses the chairmen and board.
Nobody gives them permission of what cases to pursue.
The Presidency nor the Attorney General can remove or appoint any members.

Govt led policies or funding is the foundation of the growth of any society...
Why do you think the US govt rushed to bailout huge companies in this pandemic despite the huge tax relief enacted by the white house...
This tells you how vital the Government is.. Even in some of the most open markets of the world like Hong Kong and Singapore. There is still significant Govt interventionz in every sector of the economy
But this is the point of this thread,we shouldnt depend on the government to provide electricity or any other service that the private sector can.

Every entrepreneur should not provide their own electricity, this is not viable. Thats like every household creating their own clothes!
We only need entrepreneurs that provide electricity to other entrepreneurs.

If @IgboChief001 can provide his own electricity for his manufacturing business! Then it should be feasible that someone else CAN specialize in providing electricity to you , me and other entrepreneurs.

But the point OF THIS THREAD is that our governments in Africa are not up to the task of taking us to the next level.
We are being led by children, and children won't "boost energy production through govt-led policies and funding"

How do u want capitalism to thrive to the best in this kinda unstable environment?
Im not really advocating for capitalism to thrive.

I just came to the realization that the reason why Africa is getting ripped off is because we sell cocoa and buy chocolate.
We buy chocolate cause we don't have companies that make chocolate.

We Sell crude oil and import the finished form. We don't refine it cause we don't have the companies to do it.

We need roads/bridges and were spending Billions of Dollars with Chinese companies to build our roads/bridges!

We have all these foreign corporations in Africa sucking Billions of dollars out every year,If we had native corporations we would not be losing all this wealth.

Africa is consuming what we don't produce , simply because we don't have our own corporations/conglomerates.

Just imagine the typical African leader need to have something built,And they will tender the contract to companies from Turkey!China!Sweden!America!

a hungry/jobless man can never be a free man... Nigerians are very intelligent in finding ways to make ends meet and tackle poor governance (some way or the other) in order to satisfy their own lives. expecting these same people to now do the same for the WHOLE country, while they cant even get along, thanks to tribalism... makes very little sense. abeg, show us your magic wand to succeed in that dream of yours.

yet you are the one bringing US power plants, US hospital or foreign infrastructures to this discussion... expecting Nigeria to have/be the same?!?!?!?

so you really believe that Nigeria's entire revenue should be left to these polithieves to loot, while the common people should now get together to do (with their little money) what the gov should?! you really believe that instead of REMOVING THESE USELESS LEADER, Nigerians should all chip in to built power plants and hospitals with their own cash (while polithieves buy mansions in Banana island and Miami)?!

since you think its so easy to create mega farms and make money from them, why dont you do exactly that and see how fulani herdsmen deal with you?!
since you think creating mega farms is the solution to Nigeria's problem, why dont you start one and solve Nigeria's problem?

abeg, show me your Nigerian smart phone, Mr wise man!
show me your Nigerian made laptop, Mr knowitall?
what about your Nigerian plane, Mr smart man?
you just think that Rome was built in one day AND/OR with crooked foundations!
wake up please.... to do any of what you are talking about, you need proper FOUNDATION!!!! therefore, until these bastard leaders are removed, and foreign gov's hands no longer steal our natural ressources, all what you are talking about is a smoke dream.

no they cant!!! just like the US cant manufacture Apple phone and Nike shoes and sell to their own selves. ITS CHEAPER AND MORE PROFITABLE TO HAVE THESE ITEMS BUILT IN CHINA/INDIA etc !

i dont care about what people in Ghana and Togo do....but since you believe that igbo products will "automatically" sell in other countries, because these countries A) dont have such good or B) are dying for igbo goods... then why dont you start such business and give Nigerians the well needed jobs they desire? Mr smart man!

yet you are the one who want Nigerians to chip in and build power plants, abi?
yet you are the one who want Nigerians to chip in and build hospitals, abi?
yet you are the one who thinks that Nigerians should build mega farms like in some irrelevant foreign land, abi?

again, stop comparing banana with football... the problem of Nigeria today is NOT building useless factories that wont make money. if there was any financial gain in building these factories, then wise Nigerians would have done that a LOOOONG time ago...unless of course you believe that all Nigerians, including the multi Billionaires (in dollars), are so stupid that they dont want to get richer by creating factories in Nigeria. you are truly a dreamer if you think that building a factory to create phones etc in Nigeria is the solution to Nigeria's problem.

my solution is very simple:

gather them all in one place and...

You know why your plan is pointless.
1)You won't get good leaders simply by neutralizing the bad ones.(Its Also Impossible)
1a) Nigeria got rid of military rulers and still went downhill with civilian ones.
1b)You got rid of PDP and ended up with APC.

2)Just because your leadership isn't corrupt, doesn't mean that they have vision!
2a)Just look at George Weah of Liberia! He doesn't know what the f he's doing!
2b) Look at Buhari,he was elected because he had integrity! How did that turn out for us?!

3)There is NO WAY to tell if a person can bring development to a country! No way!

4)You say Africans are tribalistic but you are also expecting these Africans to not elect leaders from tribalistic sentiments.

You're expecting politicians who get into politics for wealth and fame to provide quality hospitals , stellar infrastructure and adequate electricity!

the problem in this issue is that people want to compare Nigeria with foreign countries (like the US)... forgetting that:
- the 1st power plant in the US was built almost 150yrs ago (in 1882), but they now want Nigeria and its useless polithieves to be as equal as these countries, lol!
African politicians are failing Africa.
Africans are failing Africa by relying on their governments.

- the US gov made $3.5Trillion in revenue in 2019...aka enough money to solve Nigeria's power/road/hospitals/school/employment problems IN ONE DAY. yet some people now want to compare Nigeria with these countries, lol!
- in the west, we are forced to pay thousands every months in taxes, which goes to the gov, and part of the money is used to help better our lives.... while Nigerians who dont even pay 30K Nairas monthly in taxes want the same services (power/hospitals/roads/schools/employment etc) as these rich foreign countries. lol!
No one is implying this......

[b]- most countries in the west have GREAT leaders that would still loot but do so in a way that the common people would not be affected by it, while you want to compare that with Nigerian leaders who would loot and openly have the masses suffer in hunger/unemployment, lol!
This is the reason why I say its up to us as Africans to take our destiny in our own hands.Because we have illiterate , greedy people in politics.

- when was the last time you heard of fulani/Texan herdsmen problems in the US? yet you want to compare with these lands? lol!
So there are fulani herdsmen in Senegal/Gambia/Ghana/Togo/Kenya/Angola?
Ordinary mega farm Africans wont create, but were busy importing tomato sauce!

- when did you ever hear of tribalism in these foreign countries? even with all the racism in the US, the country is still going strong... while Nigerians are openly fighting against their fellow men (putting Nigeria's economy on its knees) because of ethnicity. lol!
But you still buy products from countries that are racist to blacks?
So 40 Million Yorubas cant manufacture simple smart phone accessories and sell to themselves?
So youre saying that people in Ghana or Togo won't buy Igbo products?

the reality of Nigeria is that the elite in gov are getting richer and certainly dont want the little people to get better lives. who will work in their slave-type factories if everyone has money?!
Everyone is not going to have money. Only a few People will own large Businesses, does everyone in South Korea own a factory?!
What the hell are you trying to say!

By the way what exactly is your plan for getting rid of APC/PDP,Tinubu,Atiku,Outtara,Musevini of Uganda,Keita of Mali,Raila Odinga of Kenya,Edgar Lungu Of Zambia,Paul Biya of Cameroon?
