Hello @Whyna. Thank you for all the information you've been passing through this thread. It's been really helpful. Few months back, you posted about schools for undergraduate studies and said to email/message them directly. Well, to cut the long story short, I made lots of research and sent to many, I was accepted into one to study business which includes internship, due to the Covid 19 issues, I couldn't start the process which gave me more time to save. Now, they're planning to do a business visa to enter Vietnam first, then process the working visa after. They found an agent and said he's processing it for 1,850$ for both quarantine and visa fee. I would like to know if the price is okay or over the top. Ps: please reply my email when you get the chance

Hmmmm. Replied

This doesn't sound right and I have some questions.

As a school, they have the power to apply directly for a student's visa for you although I know of some schools that give you admission and you sort your visa yourself. They don't get involved

Let's say they want to bring you in first via business visa, that's ok but why extend to a work visa instead of a student's visa?

Lastly, that price is very sketchy. Quarantine alone will take up 80% of that money so what exactly is the plan?

Glad you did your research to get this far. Do more research on current prices and see

There is no specific amount. Depends on you.

1000 USD can take you for 2-4 months depending on the province and your expenses

Yes. Good water, electricity, roads, all of them.

Since I came here, all the roads I knew that had potholes have ALL been repaired and I mean ALL,oh except one that they have completed part, remaining the other part.

They have a working government and everything is in order here

Hahaha... I've never been to Vietnam but, bro, If even Ghana, my country, has 24/7 electricity and water then that shouldn't be a problem at all in Vietnam - a country where Americans, Brits and other Native Speakers troop to to work as language teachers.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I understand what you mean. I was also very skeptical at first about the Visa type, but I was told that since I would be working alongside studying, (the internship I mentioned earlier) it would be better to do a working visa as the government looks down on students working.
About the price, do you mean the visa price should be more? I think the quarantine fee takes about a $1000 dollars or maybe a little more (Some foreigners who just entered said it depends on the hotel facility, sometimes the one available may be more, but I don't think cheaper than that). I've been asking questions though. It's only favourable when sending dollars to Nigeria but not the same when sending back due to our exchange rate so I really have to be careful.
Also, do agents collect part payments? I asked if they could (more than half of the price) and I was told yes, and immediately the visa is out, I pay everything remaining immediately without wasting time. What do you think?
Please when you find the time, kindly reply my mail. Thank you!

I asked
Thanks please pardon my disturbance.
I have been following your thread and I really want to make the move to Vietnam.
I understand that since I don't have an education degree then it's a no no.
My question is this:
Can my family accompany me if I chose school route?
Can my kids also be able to join if myself and wife go through business visa or any other type except tourist visa.

@Whyna responded
I don't know about students visa but for business visa, for now, you have to come first then apply for your wife and kids
