A typical catholic priest is the devils incarnate. Forget about their appearance as pious men, its all fake. I have read many testimony of Catholics especially in Europe. The one that shook me most was the 12 year old girl that was sent to convent to become a Nun.
What na happened?

I went through a missionary school and I OK /certify that flogging and punishments as means of proper discipline.
Before you get into a missionary school or a minor seminary, prepare your mind that you are sending your child to a correctional facility.
Those marks are even small self. It'll heal in no time.
If it's a student that flogs u like that, the school has a disciplinary committee, direct it to them, than share the pics and bring the matter to the internet. This will only facilitate your expulsion.
Missionary schools is a military school in disguise, where u learn perseverance, discipline, as a man.
Indomie generations would never understand. All they care about is defaming and sabotaging the names of missionary schools. but to what end?
For once the discipline never killed me.
It only made us stronger, and taught us to device means to survive (SOHK).
I fought, I scavenged for food, I took a swollen eye, a swollen face, monkey yansh, slaps, velentino belts, koboko, wire, nepa wire, wood... Name them. I won most fights, I lost some, broken wrists. Learnt how to bend rules, not break them. It was an adventure you can never take out of my life.
When I complained to my parents and they kept me mute, then I knew what I signed up for, the plan was to aim for SS3, or get a school father. It was like a game of Chess and cards.
You can either decide to pay attention to instructions, or suffer d consequences.
Your parents signed u up for it.
If not, take your kids to other schools.
Missionary schools r for discipline. Same as military schools.
No priest is a devils incarnate.
Check your forms of undertaking.

I went through lumen Christi, uromi.
Commisioners and top politicians usually dump their kids in my school, even some kids from abroad, to b corrected.

From my jss1 till SSS1 I was hated and flogged, the picture posted above is a child's play flogging.
I encouraged myself, consoled myself, learnt alot of lessons from that school.
I don't have a single Cain or koboko or wire mark on my body today.

We even learnt how to persevere with the punishments and bear the pain, and even turned it to a joke.
When flogged, we'd bone (which is d word we used back then) the cane, it became fun. And for 6years.
Today I use those punishments as exercise in my early mornings.

We learnt how to manage suffering, because it is by suffering that character is birthed.
This generation don't know how to manage when suffering, it's y many marriages, when the men lose their source of income, the woman leaves.

This generation, at the slightest frustrations and discomfort, they feed it to the internet to defame others and spread spiteful rumors and most especially, commit suicide.

We r men, we were built to b strong and masculine.
If you don't know how to take a Cain, how to fight, how to take a punch, how to manage pain, how to frog jump, how to be tough, then try the feminine gender.
Thank u.
Thanks for this jargons. Are you sure your are mentality okay?

Your analogy even made your opinion worse. A bank fires a thieving staff immediately he/she is caught. The only other thing is to recover the stolen funds. Why on earth would you start asking why the theft took place when stealing is the number one sin in a financial institution. What reason would be feasible enough to justify stealing in a BANK as a staff? Can't you see that your case study is very wrong? If it's my personal business, I could ask him but what if that staff has a history of fraud and has been forgiven many times? (just like that boy must have been misbehaving upandan with his unserious chess games).

My position is this:

I believe in 'spare the rod and spoil the child' rule. The only exception is when the child is well behaved. A teenager has almost formed his own mindset and mentality and are at their most rebellious. For him to play chess while class goes on, shows a total disrespect to authority. How do we know how he behaves at home too? The school gave him capital punishment. I believe he won't play that chess tomorrow while class is ongoing. Lesson learnt. Win win for everyone.
My analogy is not wrong..... Because the reason why you investigate is to ensure that such doesn't repeat itself by putting controls in place or tweaking a system.

My point is flogging is Meant to be correctional, but the thing is we should be focused on preventatives. And prevention is better than cure. Flogging a child only makes the child more rebellious

Your last sentence is wrong. It never made many of us rebellious. We did bad and were corrected. What breeds rebellion is to be flogged, maltreated without being guilty or any reason at all.

On your first paragraph, Surely you can ask all these questions when the thief is with police, after being SACKED?

Archaic according to who?

The school is not the only institution you know. The home is another. So if his parents beat him like that too, you will take them to court?

They were and still are damned effective. The little decorum and cultural values still retained by our generation were forged on the altars of training by our parents and the school. The moral decadence rampant these days ain't due to bad economy alone but also lack of quality moral/ cultural training. You should see how liberalism has made the youths so utterly devoid of morals. They will train their kids like that too. Soon, it would be cool for a son to slap his father,so long he is 18years old.
According to several studies....reason why it has been outlawed in some countries.

I guess you don't see the bigger picture.....just take time out and read on the effects of corporal punishment on kids and you would get more insight. Like I mentioned, flogging never had any impact on me never corrected anything for me. On the contrary it helped reinforce my resolve to do the things I was flogged for. Other things shaped who I am today.

Speak for yourself I know how it affected me.

The point I was trying to make is why schools need to take out time to carry out research on rebellious children.

Secondary schools will now do research on rebellious children? grin grin grin... Who funds such research and why would such be their PRIORITY, leaving their primary goal of teaching students moral values and academic excellence.

Lol... I guess your body will be full of scars now, if flogging you only reinforces your resolve to do evil. Well, it did for me. My parents and teachers never beat me for fun, they always make me know what exactly I'm being punished for and why I ought to stop such bad behaviours.

The whites are not the ones to teach my kids moral values, their own kids lack it.

This is a failure of a teacher as a teacher. Not a parental problem.

The truth is a lot of our teachers have no business teaching. For one they are not mentally capable to carry the burden of influencing the lives of the kids placed under them.

How many students will call this teacher their favorite? Compare to those that take out time to encourage and actively seek to help students. Even if the student is still wayward, at a low point in their life, they would remember that they had/have someone who tried actively to help them and they can reach out to for help. That is the work of a teacher guidance not flogging.
All your rantings above are outside the point.

Caining a child is not pathognomonic to mental incapability of the teacher.

It isn't your business to be students' favorite. It is your business as a teacher to teach and do your job.

Any student that likes or doesn't like you is none of your business.

I didn't know that priests also went for army training. I don't blame you, many Nigerians don't really know the difference between discipline and torture. And few who know the difference don't really know the right discipline to give to kids.

And you think that's the right and best way to go through life? The fact that you were exposed to all those kind of inhumane conditions didn't mean it was the best thing to ever happened to you.

That was because your parents didn't know better. They didn't know how best to protect you because perhaps they also passed through the same shitty process while growing up.

No parents in their right sense would sign up their kids for torture. Many kids had been killed, maimed or damaged psychologically through this archaic method of raising kids.
No one encourages raising a pusssy but you don't have to damage them in the name of discipline
Y d senseless comment?
Please if your child is not in a missionary or military school, cease to mention my post.

Ask around about Lumen Christi International high school, arue, uromi, Edo state.
Do your small research. Like I said, commissioners dump their kids in my school. I don't need to start mentioning the names of these commissioners.
And hey!! It wasn't torture.

The principle of beating a child with the Right hand, and petting him with the left hand is the best treatment for a child. Go there and be doing research on how to bring up your child.
Be it an Irony, but, I beat my child to properly reform him. It is iron that sharpens iron.

Many parents just play possum to the fact. Or are just cowards

With all those stupid corporal punishment they gave you, have you made it in life more than those who grew up in love?

Africans and Nigerians just hate themselves.

I am a parent and if any teacher try this nonsense with my wards, the teacher will definitely end up in jail at the least.
To get the best performance out of sth, u must subject that sth to different condition to see how that sth responds. You subjecting sth to best conditions is denying that sth actual reality.
My parents like to do most things for us (children), I got to the University(FUTO), I was to do my medicals examination, when I saw d crowd, I sat somewhere, I cried, wishing my parents could help me out, I called them on phone.
Then I took it on myself to experience the hard life, the streets. Because that's d reality outside the house. Not the ideal
I am an Engineer, when we build robots, cars, inverters, we subject it to different conditions and measure its operability and functionality.

Because of the theory of the ideal condition which we imagine in our heads, and the real condition which is out there? Your cars can function under any conditions because of these tests. And it is so in all research faculties.

A Word is enough.
So many parents reason. Like kids these days grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Both the reacher and student were wrong. Did the school provide the chess game or he brought from home!

If you not offering a subject, why not go to a school library and atleast pretend to read but sleep. You brought chess game to school instead!

I don't support this kind of flogging but I also believe the truth is not being told.

This is too much. Even if they were making noise, the penalty still does not equal the offense. You don't kill a fly with a sledge hammer. You would have seized the chess board and give them V-portion etc to while away time.

Rich people and connections in Nigeria is a big factor in Nigeria courts. The judge would simply say that the teacher should be reminded in correctional facility pending the determination of the bail application by the lawyer. It happens all the time.

and what gives the soldiers right to brutalise anyone too....
The same thing that gives teacher the right to brutalise his student. That's why I said madness pass madness.

Once again, I'm not a fan of brutalising kids. I went through that shiity process and I realised that it wasn't the best way to raise kids. Me passing through it didn't mean that it was great.

That's exactly what this thread is all about: knowing the difference between brutality and discipline. Many teachers and parents wrongly understood brutality to be discipline.
