You didn’t read it to understand but read it to react, if you did, he said in his days, he mentioned that... he said nowadays also, he mentioned in the western world, women are guided by law, he said things there, he made reference to his dad, himself, not beating his wife, summary of it all is he said women of now rub shoulders with men, that’s why they get beaten, they don’t cook etc, it’s his opinion but not old age as you said, learn to respect people’s feelings, opinions, emotions, views, very important in the journey of life, either you learn or you don’t learn. The Nigerian/African men who usssually bash women in this manner are ugly, poor, short low esteemed men, I cook for my female always while she puts her feet up watching TV and she enjoys my food. She does what she likes, I show her respect and she respects me back. I wash her cloths while washing mine (just load them in the washing machine) i hoover the house when i can, Wash dishes all these things i do doesn't stop me from being a fine looking confident man i am. grin

Infact, African/Nigerian men should start respecting, appreciating and adoring their women, because frankly Nigerian men have nothing to offer their women apart from oversized ego, Nigerian men are not special. And for some reason they seem to forget that women gave birth to them.

Although, i'm not all for the feminism brouhaha as well as the men's right schtick, they are both biased and completely sexist in their own way if you ask me but there's literally no direct definition to being a man. I'd rather define myself as a humanist in that font. Being a man is completely relative but one definition stands above all, "a man does whatever the hell he wants as long as no one gets hurt". If a man is convinced he wants to be a feminist or a men's right activist, all power belongs to him. If you want to convince a man to see your POV, then do that, don't shame him into pretence, that just makes you a bully who feels threatened by the opposing side making you look weak to need validation.
