Hello all, I went for my B1/B2 renewal today and wanted to apply for my wife without the kids. But we were both refused.
Below is the transcript.
Me: Good morning
Vo: good morning passports please
Me Sure, here they are
Vo: you have been to the US before
Me yes I have.
Vo: how long did you stay
me: 2 weeks
Vo: are you travelling with the kids
Me: No the kids have resumed school already so they wont be traveling with us at this time
Vo: aside the US where have you been
Me: SA, Dxb,Ghana, togo
Vo: what is xyz
Me: thats where i work.
Vo: who is paying for the trip
Me: i am.paying for the trip myself
Vo: how long do you intend to stay me 2 weeks
Vo to my wife: aside from Dubai which other countries ave you been to.
my wife: Ghana, and Togo
Vo: Do you know anyone in
The US?
Me: No
Vo: sorry you have been refused.

So sorry about that. You can reapply, sometimes these things are not cast in stones, and also may depend on the VO

I just got a mail that I have successfully rescheduled my appointment from Wednesday May 19 to Thursday May 20. I didn't initiate any rescheduling. Anybody with a similar experience?

Don’t make excuses for these people! Adults can travel and make arrangements for their kids to be looked after!

Not taking children on vacation is not an excuse to deny a visa application,especially for someone who haven’t miss-used a previously approved visa! These people just do what they want! Wasting people’s time and fees!

Exactly, those consular officers do what they like.
There is no specific method of getting B1/B2 visa.

To hell with the U.S Department of State and their unfair treatment towards Nigerians.

Can someone please give me tips on getting an F1 visa interview date? I've been seeing 'no date available'.
I'm hoping to set a date for May or June (because start date is August).
How realistic is this?

Whether you have extensive travel history or not they will deny.
Whether you are married or single they will deny.
Whether you have kids or not they will deny.
Whether you being honest at the interview or not they will deny.
Whether you have been to the U.S multiple times or not they will deny.
Whether you have relatives in the U.S or not they will deny.

They are clearly on a mission to make as much profit as possible due to the desperate nature of Nigerians flooding the embassy with B1/B2 visa applications.

To hell with the U.S Department of State and their unfair treatment towards Nigerians.

If I'm applying for the sole purpose of going to the state to write an exam, should I declare I have a relative there or is it safer to just declare none and just book an hotel for the few days?

This depends on your specific circumstance.

Family’s information will be crosschecked if you decide to apply for an immigrant visa maybe if you plan to do that in future.

American immigrant visa process is mainly a family based system.

They barely check account statements at B1/B2 visa interviews so it defiantly was not about money or income.
From the look of things they just don’t want to issue the visa.

Please do not fall for anyone claiming to provide earlier dates.
No random individual has the ability to conjure dates out of thin air.
The 2024 appointment period was done intentionally by the U.S Department of State for some strange reasons which is unfair.
It is sad that the first available appointment is in 2024.
That is just the poor treatment we get because we are Nigerians.
