To the best of my knowledge as a frequent traveler in the past, you cannot buy a one-way ticket with a visit visa to any country. Only legal residents of a country whether temporary or permanent are accorded that privilege.

But your case is a bit complicated cos I believe your children will be issued with either study permits or visitor records at the port of entry in Canada. So with that I don’t know if you can tell them your kids are actually eligible to stay longer in Canada for the duration of your studies, hence, are qualified to travel with one-way tickets.

I’m not too certain of the exact solution here.

However, my simple advice would be to book them return tickets just to be on the safe side.

I seriously doubt if the airport/airline staff in Nig would understand Canada’s policy of issuing visitor record at POE for Children traveling with a parent holding a study permit.

Pls await others input.

With a study visa, are you allowed to work 20hours a week even though on your form u stated NO to the question, do u have recourse to work......
?

Please respond.

The questionnaire on the form should relate to the "coop" that is if your programme requires you to have some form of work experience as a prerequisite to complete your studies. Such students would be given separate work permits along with the study permits. I assume you clicked No because your programme does not have a coop. This is different from the 20 hours per week on and off-campus students are entitled to.

International students are entitled to work 20 hours per week as long as this is stated on your study permit the CBSA officer would issue to you at the point of entry.

Hope this clarifies

Pinkey2021:
Let me officially introduce myself.

I’m not very new although I’m new!

I’ve been lurking in the backgrounds of Nairaland since early 2020 after I submitted my first application. And my! Have I grown since then.

I first heard about this place from a Nigerian-Canadian YouTuber sometime mid 2019.

After my first application, I became an active reader and soon realized the mistakes with my application. Even before the refusal came I knew I would be refused because my application was just rubbish

But since after the delay, I’ve read and learned a lot from the gurus and expert here starting from as far back as thread 13! I became an active reader from thread 15 till date.

I’ve just reapplied after all the life changing nuggets that I gleaned from gurus like @frankrobbn1 @justmellow and some other very old names I can’t mention now.

I was in the background live when @Luckymama @fratermathy and the rest were here doling out advices and tips. I even remember when @Lekiboboe joined and asked his first question And today he’s a guru of repute even though he would want us to believe he’s not. My brother only God almighty will reward you for all your efforts and time given to this thread.

Here’s my timeline as it stands now:
First Application: April 25, 2020
Biometrics: Sept 24, 2020
BVL: Sept 25 2020
Refusal: Sept 26

Second Application
Deferred program to Fall (Sept), 2021
Upfront Medical: Feb 25, 2021
Submitted: Mar 4, 2021 with MBS
Background Check: Mar 5, 2021

On 11th Mar (7days after I applied, I realized I mistakenly opted ‘NO’ to that infamous question about if one has been denied Canadian visa or any other country visas before. I quickly filled out a new e1294 form with the correct info and sent via webform. At the same time I sent a very compelling email to all the IRCC email addresses individually, pleading with them that it was an honest mistake.

Only Beijing and Edmonton I think responded that they’ve received my new form and updated my application with it. The email also assured me that my application is still being processed.

So, that’s where I am currently in my journey. I decided to become active by rendering solutions to the best of my knowledge and capacity to anyone who requires it. I’m not a guru though. I’m just someone whom Nairaland Canada visa thread has helped a great deal.

You no ask the IRCC official what’s delaying Nigerian applications like these

Yes of course, I did but he declined to respond to specific questions of such nature concerning applications.

He need to be, he cannot come into Canada with an expired medical status, he is expected to still have a medical certified status when entering.
Besides, his medicals would have expired by the time he travels irrespective of a valid visa or not.

What he can mist like do is fast forward his travel date by changing the date on his ticket, and enter Canada before the medical status expires.

All the best.

I see, thanks for the heads up.

Hello everyone

I submitted my online application on March 7, 2021 (reapplication) but my biometrics which I’ve done since the first time I applied in 2019 hasn’t been updated in my new application yet. Is it something to be worried about?

I didn’t submit any NSE document for my new application and yet to receive any update since I submitted, not even NSE, the only thing that’s been processed here is my background check which has been on immediately I submitted my application.

Is there anyone that reapplied in March or February and has gotten any update since then?

I applied in March which I did my biometrics too

Hello Ade2303, I’ve been following your posts and it seems we have almost the same profile. I submitted my application (a reapplication too) on Mar 4 and my Biometrics I did last year has not been updated also. Although I submitted MBS.

And just like you too my background check started immediately (Mar 5).

Are you for Fall intake? Maybe they’re waiting till after attending to the May intakes before starting ours.

Let’s keep each other posted on developments.

Hi Pinkey2021, it’s so nice and mind calming to see someone in the same shoe I’m, I’m going for fall intake and I think you’re right about finalizing May applications before starting ours.

I hope it ends in praise for us all, I’m gonna send you an email, do reply and let’s keep each other posted if there’s any development.

Girl you'd have to pay tuition fees like everybody else. We would all be targeting scholarship if it was available.
