Greetings oga.... Stanbic is about to give 1 bonus for every 6 shares held.... To you it is overpriced, to me it is not, that's why I have been buying.

Like someone don talk before, even if Stanbic drop to N20 today today, you go shift una goal post to N15.

It's Zenith sha. But Zenith is run as a one-man bank. Just like UBA. Very risky for investors.

Zenith wins which is why Zenith is the highest holding in my portfolio followed by GT...... Stanbic is #6 or #7 on that list.

It is not always about PE, Tesla for example has a PE ratio 1,000+. If you're one of those people who carry foreign investments on their heads, you're probably invested in TSLA.

BTW, I am not fighting you

I bought this Transcorp stock at 1.42 above market price hopping to ride on the euphoria but it didn't respond.

With this Q1 result, I will begin to average down in order to move out of losses.should be trading around 90kobo+ in the coming days.

Happy weekend to you all.

Elders, pls what does "share price adjustment for dividends" mean and especially in the case of Mansard, and how does it affect shareholders. Please I need an explanation. Thank you

According to Investopedia:

The adjusted closing price amends a stock's closing price to reflect that stock's value after accounting for any corporate actions. It is often used when examining historical returns or doing a detailed analysis of past performance.

Also,

Stock market specialists will mark down the price of a stock on its ex-dividend date by the amount of the dividend. For example, if a stock trades at #50 per share and pays out a #0.25 dividend, the stock will be marked down to open at #49.75 per share.

So does it mean in effect "you cant eat your cake and have it?" So if I collect dividend, I must pay for it through lowering share price?

You are now talking.Remember you bought at 90kobo when you were mocking me for buying above #1.

Thank God for this result that can sustain these prices you shown. I am humbled by this market and can base my argument henceforth on the numbers I see.

Note:The result is only good when you compare Q1 2021 to that of 2020.When you take a look at the current size of the group, it is below expectations.

Did u read the link in the post? Did you see this part;

"However, the market is guided by many other forces. If a stock is deemed to be undervalued by investors, the stock price may be bid up, even on the ex-dividend date. Similarly, if investor perception of the value of a stock on any given day sours, the stock may sell off much more than the simple drop due to the dividend."

Even though it gets marked down ex-dividend date you may not be able to buy it at that price if traders deem d stock undervalued. While it is also possible it may crash further from there. Well, that is my understanding from the article, I may be wrong. tongue

Risk is mine of course
Depends on your risk appetite and patience ability.
Linkage is a good insurance stock no doubt and the take-aways makes sense.....but apathy towards the sector is kil.lin.g" the good one's vibes....seems it's changing small small and some analysts are predicting better days for the sector.

Ok. Let's look at it this way:
If picked @85kobo and you bought 500k units for instance:

500k units X 0.85 = N425,000
500k X 0.05 = N25,000 (Dividend on 500k units)
2÷5 X 500k = 200,000units (Bonus of 2 for 5)
Total units owned = 700k units.

Let's say you sell @65k after markdown (trying to look at worst case scenario):
700k X 0.65 = N455,000 + N25,000 = N480,000.

N480,000 less N425,000 (cost price) = N55,000 profit (Assuming fees has been factored into the costs).

** The more the volume, the higher the profit
** Ability to buy cheaper than example price gives more profit.
** Ability to wait it out or average down after markdown an added advantage
** Liquidity ??
** Timeframe in view ??
** So answer your question yourself and do your DD. grin
