There are 774 lga chairmen and 36 governors and only God knows how many ministers as well as other political offices. How many of these positions are held by doctors? What of lawyers engineers and accountants who hold political office.

Count how many LGAs,Governors, Political office holders etc have special advisers on health who are doctors first, now add to the several doctors on political appointment as all the heads of Tertiary hospitals, FMCs, State General hospitals, Directors in one agency or another and you keep wondering if we are truly short of doctors because of the numbers or because a lot of trained hands have been sucked up by the political bazaar instituted by late Prof.
My point is that the current system will either kill itself or self-correct. At some point in time, even the Registrar of the Nursing Council is a doctor and same with NAFDAC! So if these hands are all absorbed in political and administrative duties that are not their core functions, who will train and mentor the young doctors?

Stop lying. Nigeria does not have one of the cheapest health care. You doctors are liars and propagandists. Health care in Nigeria is expensive and yet consultants do not come to work leaving the inexperienced registrars to do most of the jobs so please stop lying here. UK, India, Germany, Austria all have free health care. Their citizens only pay taxes. I have attached a screenshot to show you list of countries with free health a care. Most, I repeat, Most Nigerian doctors are not doing well abroad. They are mostly General practitioners or emergency doctors (even Nigerian consultant doctors) are emergency doctors in UK, they are not allowed specialty. The Nigerian doctors that are specialist doctors are those that schooled abroad(did their BMMS abroad) and did their residency abroad and are brilliant are the ones doing well not the ones that left Nigeria as doctors. So kindly stop lying and misleading people. Nigerian doctors are liars and propagandists. Even the UK jobs Nigerian doctors dying for. It’s G.P, Emergency department that’s where they work. But they come online and lie like they are in specialized fields.

I have Nigerian trained Doctors who are in gynae, internal medicine, psychiatry, surgery etc. And who told you emergency medicine specialty is a walk in the park?, Or that being a GP means not doing well?
