I think it should not be taken out completely, what I suggest is adjustments, that should be done. Like let it be optional, whoever that want to go should indicate from school and call up lettesl given, and and exception letters given to who doesn't want to go, then Because of the insecurities and other country challenges been faced in the country, everyone should serve in their place of choice, instead of going through the stress of redeployment after camp. The most that would happen will be no more intergration amongst coppers and organisations or offices will not collect to much corpers.


Then, the government should make it mandatory that, offices calling for the services of corpers, do not make the certificate mandatory, if a graduate has it, good if they don't have it it's fine, move on with recruitment.


Everything lies with the government.
But on a second thought, public opinion should be allowed on the matter, votes counted, if the most is to scrape it, or take it off completely then, perfect let it go.
The aim is useless with innocent coppers dieing everyday, and other challenges going on.

The govt budgets almost a million naira for each corps members mobilisation, uniform kits feeding and all other logistics,let that money be given to every graduate upon graduation after training them in any skill they so desire

I happen to share the same view with you. The reasons given are not enough. They didn't even say it will be modified, rather scrapped. Why are Nigerians this foolish. In some families this is the only government money that they had ever received in their life. I would be expecting them to modify it. Anything to punish the ordinary Nigerian is passed quickly in the house. If it's for the masses benefit, you start hearing: first reading, second reading, committee etc.

If the government can pay all eligible graduates that is supposed to go for NYSC the sum of 300,000 naira as start up funds to do whatever business of their choice then pulling down the scheme down is a welcomed development.

Very useless programme. Graduates dying and suffering for Nothing.

That was how they post my guy to Kebi state. The guy suffered to travel from the east to the place. Car spoilt. He slept on the road, the stress was too much. Guy went there, he ran back, went and started his own business, married now and doing well.

That NYSC is waste of time and youths are at risk of dying. Some corps members doing almost free labour. lol, Nigeria is a yeye country.

NYSC is one of the most enjoyable time for many people.

After NYSC, some people live to remember the fun of it through out their lives.

Some people who have never left their state of origin would be able to get to another state and taste another culture.

It really helps in national integration as some people met and married people of another tribe,all thanks to NYSC.

You make friends with people of other tribes.

Like me,I use to think that Hausa men were evil until I went to serve in the north.


Infact when I first entered the north and I saw Hausa people,I felt like running home.

But soon after, I saw that they were ordinary people like those in the south.

There I discovered that the Hausa people were not as evil as they were being protrayed down south.

So NYSC should not be scrapped.

I just wish that those 12 months pay from the FG plus all the money they're wasting to provide a complete kit for each corper plus the money being spent to feed each corper for 21 days could be given to each graduate to start a life as entrepreneurs or to acquire further skills.

They re trying to save cost, that alaweee runs into billions every year,,

the money can still be paid without going tru NYSC. There should be start-up package for every qualified graduate. It's a better option .

If Nigerian military was sound, i would suggest they take over but corpers might end up with worse fate.
