Dont give up guys. Keep developing yourselves, especially your communication skills. I graduated in 2006 and got gainfully employed 9 years later in 2015. For those 9 years, I engaged in private school teaching and other menial jobs to keep body and soul together. But eventually, God intervened.

@OP...You are a graduate and yet you don't have an extra online skill or don't know how to earn via online with what you learnt in school/university but can be comfortably browsing for 20hrs daily watching movies and every other frivolity but complain of financial constraints not knowing it's your very undoing(Fault).

Do you know that no matter what you study or know the online space has persons or organizations in the look out for such hands?
Most times the reason why people don't earn via Online is because they don't know how to go about monetizing whatever knowledge or qualification they have acquired!

Recently a Forklift Driver reached out via the facebook ID and wanted to learn transcribing but along the line we discovered he was versatile in his profession so I had to get him mentored on how to document his activities & knowledge after 3weeks mentorship he now earns @least $140 weekly with his podcast of the different viable alternatives in forklift procession...recently he was contacted by an online firm through lensa.com that requires remote forklift drivers that can use AI to work.

Your ignorance smells to the high heavens..
I'm sure many people here will be shaking their heads @your post.

Theres nothing to exxagerate. There is no opportunities in Nigeria. The only thing I will advise a young Nigerian graduate is to get coding skills start while in university. With tech skills your job market is global and you can work for foreign firms and earn well while living in Nigeria. Everything else is shit. Doctors aint even finding things funny now.

I'm in my finals studying Petroleum Engineering and the comments I'm seeing here is nothing short of depressing.

I really had to learn some things the hard way. I have one little advice for aspirants here: DON'T STUDY PETROLEUM ENGINEERING AS FIRST DEGREE!!!

The future if the oil industry is bleak, getting a job comes with a good pay and all but the field is too streamlined so there's barely a job for 3/10th of Petroleum Engineering graduates; mechanical engineers are getting the jobs. As a PE, you can't get a job in ME but a ME can easily get a job in PE.

Did you graduate in 2016? How have you been coping?

After all these years all I can point at is a teaching job I Engaged in Fetching 15k a month. I quit tho after innumerable nonsense and pathetic experiences.

I feel like I am not doing enough. I feel like I am not trying enough. When I look at my dad and see his Grey hair, I feel like I have failed him because I am still eating his food bought with monthly pension. I am still sleeping and waking up under his roof at over 30years old.

As a child, I remembered the week when I was to enter Jss1, dad took me to a boutique and bought me a very fine white canvass. Now over the years I can't even afford to buy him a shoe. The last time I bought him anything was 2017 during my NYSC.

I feel I have failed not only him but a lot of people that hoped in me to become something reasonable. Laundry sef no work, always in the shop regretting my entire journey. Maybe I should have waited and studied another course or maybe I should have just chosen and engaged in a trade with with my 100 level tuition embarassed

I just regret everything. Under the hot sun, People will see me walking from one company to another establishment with my credentials. Most times i have to Beg for money just to move from one place to another online. The situation is that terrible

I have asked myself what I am doing wrong but I apply to jobs everyday. Or maybe I am afraid of starting a family on 15k salary just like most of my colleagues back in university. We do meet and they tell me how I am delaying in starting a family, and then goes ahead to tell me how poor their teaching salaries are and how they have had to depend on friends and family. But me I have no one to fall on.

A times I feel really sad and end up praying for those unemployed graduates going through the same phase I am phase I am passing through. Even though you don't know me, I pray for you

It's so sad, I'm in such situation with you. May God help us

Even mechanical engineering is trash. The only engineering course I will advise anyone to study is electrical engineering or computer engineering. I did marine engineering which is a specialised field of mechanical engineering and getting jobs was hell. If you are in your final year and have time start learning to code now. I used to use my free time in the university to watch movies and play games. I really regret doing that now.

Only fresh graduates fell for their scams. I for once never had a skill but got employed in an oil company few years after nysc. This ones who ain't got anything to offer to frustrated graduates will only tell u to go and learn trade as if the person will use his AKWA AMU to pay for the skill.

After going thru so many comments here...I jst felt I should add mine too...who knows, it could be a source of inspiration to any1

Life hasn't bin easy fr evry graduate of this country (mst esp. the ones who has nobody)...and in my case...I'm an orphan sponsored thru sch by my blood Sis...(coz na last-born I be fr the family) my bro, I graduated "16...served in "17...aftr which i was sent away from home due to a little misunderstndn I had with my Sis. who sponsord me above...life became SO UNBEARABLE...had to scot with one to two old friends lik DAT sha...even feeding became a miracle...to cut my story short... I had registered fr the N-POWER scheme (batch B) while I was in service...God so good, I made their list...stipends of 30k started coming in...along the line i got a job in a sch as an administrative officer with a monthly salary of 28k (then i started saving heavily) mind you: i'll be 31 this year.... after saving fr about a year...I was able to gather like 300+...got a single room apartment as a young man who is about to start life...bought all my house equipments...moved to my apartment...lost my sch job due to a fraud that happened in my dept whch I knw nothing about...started roaming about again fr a while till I found a street Bro. who operates a printing services. Mind you: i'm an ICT inclined individual right from time (efficient in graphics design, typing etc)...I decided to join him for free with no salary attached...stayed with him fr over a year+...then he engaged me along the line...but ALL I could figure out is that he's kind of person who is only interested in using you...meanwhile, from part of my NPOWER savings...I had bought some office equipments fr my self like (photocopy machine, laminating machine, passport photo printer and so on) I would only say I found God's Grace coz I got dismissed again by same Street Bro. as i intentionally reduced my Zeal to his work when I found out that he's only interested in using someone.

Again, i applied fr this Survival Fund with some few slots...got selected and paid...as I type this, I hv gotten a shop of my own with the equipments I had gotten earlier...though still struggling with some funds to get the remaining things I need.

MY CONCLUSION:
FIRST...move close to God in prayer...then If u alrdy hav a skill... develop on it more and try applying for opportunities online (who knows)...things might workout by fluke.

common bro,be positive, put a call to family and friends in a way that you will need their help, then go and learn a trade like fashion designer, barbing demand for this trade is high in the market, forget about what people will say about you, just have a focus.

Try this: I will make it short.

People will only pay for the value they can get from you. The higher (and scarce to get) your value is the higher the pay and offers. The opposite still applies. Sometimes you really have to START ALL OVER!

1. Do an online job search in the area where you live or want to work. Check hundreds of different websites, check newspapers, etc. Make sure you use reputable websites or better still browse companies' websites directly. Do this for about a week.
2. Write down 5 topmost reoccurring job roles.
3. Pick anyone that you can easily study, learn using free online resources
4. Learn the skill (This can take you days, weeks or even months)
5. Apply for these roles or look for where you can work for them for free or stipends and gain experience and prove yourself.
6. When you apply after this you will be the one selecting who and where you want to work.

Else...

Learn a trade and be good in it.

The above is too much?!! Then you are not desperate enough.
