Gptech:

The issue of oil na matter for another day abeg. Even Thermocool recommended 10W-30 oil but ended up giving out 20W-50 oil with their generators. If money is not an issue, the recommended 10W-30 is the best, otherwise, we can manage the SAE 40 and 20W-50 from Total, Mobil and some other good brands. There's a thread on nairaland on oil in the auto section I think.

Done this, the Gen seems to be noisy abit. I know I should tighten up something...but don't know what. It's a brand new one

Does this mean i am safe with my oando sae 40? Cos thermocool actually recommended the 20W50 for the tec Bobo, but i friend told me to buy the sae 40 instead and it's been good so far. Just want to know if it won't have any effect on my gen in future....
You should try and use what's recommended by the manufacturer, but did they actually recommend 20W-50? Mine na 10W-30 oo.

Were you able to get the 10W-30 in the market? After searching for it in vain, I settled for the Total 20W-50

The only place I found it, was I think was more than times 5 the price of your normal Total 20W-50 oil, I jus waka pass grin. Grades of oil within that range are normally expensive.

I intend buying sumec AC master 4.5kva. majorly to power 1.5hp AC plus other minor home appliances like TV and co....
But then I noticed there is no much difference as regards the costs of 4.5 and 5.5kva. a friend advised I stick to the 4.5kva that the 5.5kva will gulp fuel like whale gulps water.
Whats your advise as I intend to make the gen I get last long by using just 50-80 percent of its true capacity.as usually advised

Hello professors, please I need answers from both mathematicians and engineers.

1). if I use 15 litres in 30 hours 16 minutes, how many litres did I use in 1 hour?

2). Is the generator's fuel consumption high?

Thanks
Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by michlins(m): 3:30pm On Jun 02, 2021
Good day everyone. I want to buy a generator with power of about 6.5kva and above.

I'm looking at elemax or something like because I was told it will be better for the kind of job I want to use it for.

PS I'm a welder and I intend to use it for my job coupled with a welding inverter

1. Approximately 1 litre is 2hours. Then your 1 hour is half litre

2. Fuel consumption is manageable.

I appreciate. However, I'm not too comfortable with the word manageable, can it do better?

You can as well state the loads on the generator

For a gen of this size, fuel consumption is normal.

Hello Prof, I recently serviced my gen, and then used it for about 3 hours. Putting ON the next day, it started jerking continuously. Please what can I do to stop it.

Good day Profs,

Please my thermocool oga6900RS has refused to start, every attempt to start it manually comes with a sound like gunshots.

For a long while, I've been unable to start the gen with the remote, I was told it's the battery, but I can put it off with the remote.
Yesterday I just tried to start it with the remote control, it started and I put it off almost immediately, it was after that, that I've been unable to start it manually, it shoots when I start it.

Please what could be wrong. Also what kind of battery do I buy to replace it? Or could the battery be recharged?

Thank you.

Good day,

My generator output voltage is very high like 260, I tried reduce the speed (RPM) and nothing changed. Then I opened the back to discover that the AVR has been removed. Please how can I get a new AVR for my generator. Or is there another way of reducing the voltage without using An AVR.

Sorry good morning sir, please I have an issue with my gen brand new gen and I’m panicking.
It’s a senwei generator, 1.8 kva, 3hp. I just bought this t less than a week ago.
My gen suddenly refused to turn on last night, i draw and draw and draw, sometimes it’ll sound like it wants to turn on but it won’t, sometimes it makes this coughing sound but it won’t turn on, one time it turned on for like a mili second then went off immediately, I’m frustrated and tired rn because I just bought that gen less than a week ago and it hasn’t been on for more than 2 hours straight. Please what should I do? Call a technician so check it? I don’t want them to touch something edakun.

How much you buy am?

My a month old spg 300e2 won't start
It'll just make noise

I've not changed anything on it before and fuel didn't finish in it

What might be the cause??

I need advice on my generator.
I have a TEC Igwe 8100ES.
Going on it’s 8th year, but it’s now hemorrhaging oil during operation.
My Mech suggests I should get a half engine for it.
Circa 100k and a new carburetor and it will serve me well. Total cost maybe 150-160k
Now, the issue is, with this expenditure, I can buy a smaller Firman, TEC or others.
Are half engines good enough?
What are the pros and the cons?
Thanks please.

Buy a new one instead, that's what I would do. You can add a bit and downgrade to the Thermocool Oga. You'll need to make some sacrifices if you plan to use it like your current generator. By the way what's the total power of everything you use with your generator?

What type of noise? You can try changing the spark plug and see if it fixes it.

My Current Generator powers Fridge, Freezer and one 1.5hp Ac without much stress.
The bugging issue is the fuel consumption.
It sure does love a drink! Full tank is just about 11 hours.
A full tank is probably about 25 litres.

Just checked prices online.
The Oga Generator isn't just adding a bit.
It's about 358k from my searches.

If that's your load then you have been wasting a lot of energy in terms of fuel. Get the hustler max, it will get the job done with almost half the fuel consumption of your current generator.

For the shooting sound, when was the last time the oil was changed? Then, check the plug to be sure it isn't clogged.
