Cow Route And Southern Hypocrisy by Nobody: 11:29am On Jun 14, 2021
The government of Nigeria brought a good idea of creating a cow route for herders, you people are busy crying foul.

The constitution of Nigeria, guarantee freedom of movement and trade, anyone can travel anywhere to live and trade.

If a igbo, yoruba businessman can go to the north to carry out his business, nothing stops a fulani man from carrying out his business in the south.

Stopping fulani people from moving and trading their cows from one part of Nigeria to another is an attack on their fundamental human right, if you can travel and do business anywhere in Nigeria, the fulani man should be also be able to do business anywhere.

You are all shouting fundamental human right when the government banned Twitter but you go about banning others from their own fundamental human right, that is hypocrisy.

Note: Fulani pay tax and rent, every cows transported to the south pay tax, from local governments tax to land rent and also tax per each cows.

If there is a full freedom to do business anywhere in the land, then why do the Hisbach police seize and destroy alcohol in Kano? Do I as a southerner have the right to open a beer parlour anywhere I want in the North?
It is the Northerners who are big hypocrites. You want to control what happens in your states, but are telling us in the south we have no right to control what happens on our land. Open grazing is banned in the South, end of. Buhari can not pick and choose which parts of the 1st republic laws to implement. If he wants the open grazing of the first republic to be implemented then we want the revenue allocation formula of the first republic to also be implemented.

So alcohol is your point of argument. Some part of the north practice sharia and selling and buying alcohol is prohibited because of religious reasons, i am sure many southerners are doing other legitimate businesses freely, they are enjoying their rights of being Nigerians.

How come the fulanis can not enjoy their own right of being Nigerians.

Pls mention that religious law in the south. Mind u the beer destroyed contains sorghum and millet produced by farmers in the north. Yet it's the north that is frustrating nig brew, guiness and inter brew.

There are already multiple routes for transporting your cattle. Use the highways or the railways or at most the airports, just like motor spare parts dealers or other legitimate businesses do. Some cattle came in from USA the other time through the airport, imagine a grazing route from USA to Nigeria. Please stop being silly.

Just leave your cows off peoples ancestral and farming land , then there will be no trouble.

If you want to migrate to other parts of the country, buy land and rent houses like everybody else does, you can't just possess any land you see and setup camp.

If you want to travel, go by road, sea or air as everybody else does.

In the South, we have NO GRAZING routes, get that into your thick skull.

It wont work now, tomorrow or ever.

The fulanis buy lands, pay tax and also rent, not only that the local government tax collectors come to collect levy on each cows.

The president said that if a cattle rearer put his cow on a farm land, he will be reliable for the loss.

So you agree that LEGITIMATE business activities can be proscribed by a state. Alcohol is not illegal by the laws of Nigeria. You are saying it is ok to ban it, in this case on religious grounds, we are saying we can also ban open grazing on safety grounds. Sorry nobody is a slave in this country. If the northerners have the right to ban something on any grounds and we southerners respect it, you must also respect our choice to ban open grazing.

Maybe we should also ban people selling spare parts in the north on safety issues.

How about the people selling drugs, lets ban them on safety issue.

You want a special rule for yourself, while others should not benefit from it.

You can travel as you like for business, but others can not and we live in the same Nigeria.

I am sorry but you are quite wrong on this. Herdsmen violate peoples farms. My friend went to his farm in May, large number of his crops had been destroyed by herdsmen. The villages even had videos of it. The local Fulani leaders said the herdsmen who did this were not Nigerians. Do you see the problem? We have Fulani from ALL OVER west africa coming down south. Many of the non-Nigerian ones do not care about following any of the ancient noms and practices that have existed for centuries. You can't expect a state government to start trying to determine who is a Nigerian Fulani and who is not. Also many of the non-Nigerian fulani are involved in kidnapping rape and murder. Please understand our governors did not just wake up one day and decide to ban open grazing. I am sure you will admit that is is extremely rare to see ALL the southern govs take a united position on anything. The truth is we have been suffering greatly across the south at the hands of herdsmen and the people have now said enough is enough. The blame for this dose not lie with the southern governors. It lies with the FG and their inability to properly control our borders and ensure security for all citizens.
I can assure you if the governors did not take the stand they took, by now there would have been many more cases of herdsmen being killed and their animals destroyed, and eventually there would have been reprisal attacks in the North, which would lead to a full fledged North V South war. Do you really want a war over cows? Best to respect the decision of our elected representatives and let peace reign. We respect your choices, please respect ours.

No be only Grazing route... Are they the only one in Nigeria..Every where herdmen go or visit it is always pandemonium and problem, weeping and gnashing of teeth people must die and blood must flow..People must die any where they visit...Is grazing the national occupation of Nigeria why the prefential treatment..The world has moved beyond all these nonsense these herdmen are doing.. Can't they do ranching...Every small thing federal government will give them preferential treatment... Why will a sane person even compare grazing and a spare part selling..I just weak for our hypocrisy as a nation.A lot of African countries have left us behind in terms of development.Which sensible country still do grazing in this 21st century
