After the war the Jordanian government was in control of the neighborhood so the Jews couldn't return to it but in 1967 Israel gained control of the neighborhood and the Jewish owners of those homes came back to claim their properties from the Arabs who had occupied it. In this particular case, There was a dispute and the matter went to court where the ruling was in favour of the original Jewish owners of the property and when the Israeli police went to enforce the court ruling, the Palestinians became violent and the police had to use teargas to disperse them. That's what led to the current crisis. So who is seizing who's homes in sheik Jarrah? A house that originally and legally belongs to Jews forcefully seized by Arabs and you expect the Jews not to ever reclaim their property even after the courts resolved the dispute in their favor?
