Hello everyone,
My husbands US visa is expiring in September and he wants to travel this june for 2 weeks.Hope there won’t be any issues with immigration officers for traveling close to visa expiry date.
Note: He has not used the visa since he renewed it.

No there wouldn't be. June to Sept is even a long time.
He is allowed to travel to the US even until the date of expiry.

LONG POST ALERT
I have gained a lot from this page and decided to give back .

I had my interview today in Abuja with my daughter.
long queue even from outside, we did not get to interview until about some minutes to 10 am and appointment was for 8 am. I had assumed the process would be as fast as it was when we came earlier in February. My daughter became hungry and started crying.
(P.S if you are that woman who gave my daughter from your biscuit today, God bless you.)

VO: you are going to state 1?

Me: Yes, state 1 and state 2 to attend my sister's wedding and graduation, she is currently a PhD student in state 3.
(The VO was getting confused at this point because I am going to 3 diff places, and wedding and graduation are in two different states. I had to clearly explain that wedding was taking place in my sister's Alma mater for under grad where she and her fiancé met. But she schools elsewhere right now. Going to state 1 first because I have another sister, a citizen who lives there, we will all go to the wedding from there).

VO goes on to ask about the other people attending the wedding and I let her know, my parents, other siblings and that we were the only ones left to get our visa. She also asked about my husband's job, where my parents live, how long we would be staying and what other countries I had been to. (UK for masters 10 years ago, US about the same time, Netherlands, Benin and Ghana)

After typing for what was not ages but felt like ages cos my heart was just pumping anyhow despite all my prayers, she sha approved us. I smile tire and even asked my daughter to wave to her. (I was desperate cos I really want to be at my baby sister's wedding. Desperate also because we were refused in February this year)

So in February this year, myself and husband and daughter got a date and attended the interview also in Abuja for the purpose of this wedding and graduation. But we were refused. The VO, a man was asking all sorts, what we do, why we r going, if we had a house, what my sister will be doing after grad. I just told him she will move to another state to join her husband. He denied us. Personally, after reading someone's transcript here, I felt my husband could have shown our ties here by mentioning that he also has a company alongside his 9-5. We also did talk extensively about our properties which shows ties. But who knows, the whole thing is at the VO’s discretion.

We were sad and my sister was practically wailing and contemplating cancelling the wedding lol. she encouraged us to reapply but this time with just myself and our daughter who is on the train just to demonstrate that we have ties here in Nigeria.

And then, it became a tug of war to get a date. Almost got an agent who promised to get date for 80k each but they could not even get dates easily and could also not guarantee Lagos. so I became my own agent and after almost two months of checking the calendar every day , got a date for June 22, 2021. It took this long because there no earlier dates and also because when trying to book an appointment within six months refusal, there were no dates to select. I eventually ignore that option and chose the one that said I did not have any recent refusals. Like I said, I was desperate to attend my sister’s wedding.

I began counting down only for me to get a message at the end of May, that my interview had been rescheduled by the consulate themselves and that it cannot be resolved by call centre agents. At this point I was so sure that devil was at work and started crying to God and backed it up with emails to both Abuja and Lagos consular officers respectively. Abuja ignored me despite my explanations that that attending the interview in August for a wedding that will take place in July, defeats the reason I applied in the first place (apparently, they rescheduled appointments for people who had refusals in the last six months because they wanted to give chance to people who have not yet done any interviews this year).

Eventually, God used an angel in the Lagos embassy for me. He/she asked me to request for emergency appointment and even though I was not sure how that would work, knowing fully well that emergency appointments are for funerals, urgent business trips, and students, I got a response within than 20 minutes that my request has been approved and I went ahead to make a new booking for today.

Thumbs up to everyone who takes time to post answers to questions on this platform. May all heart’s desires come to pass.
Cheers.

Please for clarity sake. Can one now go for tourism on vacation b1/b2 for next year summer 2022 by June for your annual leave, to stay in the hotel for 2wks without having any relative or contact person in the US.

If yes, what will be the US point of contact information, and the address where you will be staying.

Also when asked if you have made any travel arrangement?

Thanks

Good evening great people, I have a question my people.
So I got funding of about $35k+ and the total amount I need for I-20 and visa is $49000, so I need additional $14000.

So I can get this from my savings and contribution from my sister, however I have my reservation about using personal funds as scholarship students don’t have much issue with approving visa.

Do you think my chances might be reduced as I’m funding the balance??, or should I try to see if I can get additional scholarship ( there might not be time for this as I’m supposed to be in the US by August), thanks

Please rephrase. It's a tad bit difficult to grasp your needs and/or question(s).
Do note that this is not a student visa thread. Methinks you will get more feedback there.

Good morning,

Thanks to everyone who has contributed in one way or the other on this platform, it is an eye-opener and I must say that I have gained alot.

I paid for B1/B2 visa fee on the 23rd of February this year and my boss was helping to fill it cos this is my first time and I need a good hand who has done it before to avoid mistakes on the form.

Going straight to the point, he told me the nearest date for an interview is 2024 or ill have to pay 100k to get a closer date. (Note: I haven't travelled out before)

Pls,
1. How can I get a closer date without paying?
2. Who can help with the process (like a guardian).
3. What are the new information/document I need to know and have with me pending the time of the interview although I have watched a lot of tutorials on YouTube some are years back and the information might be different from the time of the video.

mrprolifik:

As far as I know ,visiting doesn't qualify you for an emergency appointment so I think there isn't much you can do about getting a closer date.

I think your post was unnecessary. It was intended to rile someone up, which will lead to heated exchanges that will derail the thread.
Now we are having exchanges with curse words and allegations of rent-seeking with counter retorts. The whole nine yards.

Let everyone (you are a stakeholder too) try as much as possible to maintain the semblance of sanity on the thread different missing from our society.

It's a good idea to disclose your intention every step of the process, and check if Trump era birthing embargo has been lifted. The implicit bias of the VOs on this may be difficult to surmount though.

With interview dates being a scarce commodity, the certainty of a November travel schedule is a stretch.
Look at all the variables properly and decide if you want to pay the fees.

You can consider other countries that will confer citizenship on your child, and enjoy less stringent travel access to the United States.

Send an email to the embassy so you have documented evidence on this in case things hit the ceiling in the future.

Since it's the embassy that was unable to provide you a date within 12 months, I am sure they will work something out for you, but send that email to cover all your bases. Nothing works wonders like a dated formal communication.

A response to the email first.
And as long as you have successfully scheduled an appointment, that means your fees have already been acknowledged by the embassy.
