Back in the olden days, rice was a very special food, only cooked twice or Thrice in a year, depending on the families denomination (New year, Easter and Christmas )

Then it became more common and then was cooked every Sunday, and then every other day

But that tradition of cooking it every Sunday still persists

Our parents learnt it from theirs, we learnt it from ours and we will soon teach our kids

That’s just it

I know right? For some reason I've always thought it has to do with that story in the bible where the disciples were told not to harvest rice on the Sabbath.
