Banking is one of the fastest way to waste your life in Nigeria
They take all your time and your left with zero personal achievements
Personal development in banking is zero
You are not given a second to have a side hustle
Banking should be a place you use to feed while looking for something else (if they give you the time)
Banking jobs died after 2007

But if you want to become a finance professional like diversifying into asset management and trading that is where you can create real wealth. And this required professional training after your degree like CFA and Cfte

Apart from "some" health related courses
Most courses in Nigeria have lost relevance and going to university these days dreaming of a "sweet" career path based on your course is a pipe dream

You bank on your employer to finance your future.

Ability to convert what one knows to financial / monetary value is what many people / professional lack knowledge of reason why there is rise in the unemployment level in many developing countries like Nigeria.
Unfortunately too this process of knowing how to monetize what you are taught as an undergraduate is not considered in school(university)!

Howbeit I keep telling people that no matter the kind of course or profession you are in, you can effectively monetize it via the online space either as a freelancer , content creator or consultant.
Some month ago(April) someone that is an electrical technical college graduate reached out through the facebook id on my profile and after 3 weeks paid training he now earns via Dropshipping & Dropservising of electrical tools and essentials via online and from the feedback I get he earns @least #60k(sixty thousand naira) weekly doing this.
With just 20 electrical shops he supplies daily with Sunday as his rest day with an average of #500(five hundred naira) profits per supplies he makes the said sixty thousand naira profits.
I told him to manage these 20clients for at least 3months then he can decide to source for another 20 with same locomotives he was thought in creating these 20 he delivers for.

That's why I keep saying that if you have access to internet + browsing gadgets and you ain't earning even $5 or it's naira equivalent daily or you are yet experiencing financial freedom then it's your own undoing(FAULT).

Banking and Finance, just like Business Administration is not a professional course. Studying it does not guarantee you working in a bank unlike courses like Accounting, Law, Medicine or even Engineering. Anybody with any discipline can work in a bank because some trainings would still be done.

However, you can study the course for the knowledge and you might be lucky to get a banking job with it. But it's not a guarantee

It's about what make of it.

Your achievement depends on your move.
Bear in mind that there is no job in Nigeria.
But you can do a lot of things with your life.

Banking and Finance, unlike some ignorant claim above is quite versatile. The banking doesn't sit alone, you have the finance part that involves a wide variety of functions like;
Finance officers
Portfolio management
Investment banking
Credit advisors

You can even branch into Audit and Accounts. It's your choice to succeed. Do not base it on failures and ignoramus.

I will only advice some one to learn road side mechanic than wasting their lives study such a useless course

The pros are the corns

If I could reverse time, I would go and study something like physical education or theater art or history etc.

I would then go for masters and doctorate.

This is Nigeria, there are NO useless courses (absolutely none). Just make sure you get the best grades (1st class or 2:1). Choose any course where you can make your best grade.

Someone that studied language and graduated with 1st class stands a better chance of getting a good job at a corporate organization job than someone who studied Accounting and graduated with a 2:2.

Your course is mostly insignificant in Naija (except for specialized professionals like Medicine, law e.t.c.) but your grade is VERY important.

Let me say my mind...

This is the only course one can study with an empty brain, graduate with an emptier brain, and still secure a good placement provided you are remarkably beautiful as a Lady.
