As an entrepreneur, an ardent reader and learner, an industrious person and someone who loves to explore, I can't but love to hear from people how their typical days look like at work. Be it office work, a consulting firm, a legal parastatal, a religious organization, a medical workplace, industry or even as a fellow entrepreneur.... And also from students alike.

Typically as a student.... It's not been very rosy trying hard not to fail (personal choice though), and also trying to build solid network for yourself and your future, trying to offer helping hands to other students alike in forms of tutorial, and also amassing skills that will be beneficial to you when your certificate can't save you.

Work-life, competition here and there, having more than 7 neighbors doing same thing I'm doing to customers looking like Ned nwokwo and wanting to be like Drake, To people begging to have our service for free... hmmm.etc.

It'll be interesting to hear from you too how your typical days at work usually go, what you do, some challenges you face, what you enjoy about your workplace, a routine you follow etc.

Special attention will be paid to people working as an analytical chemist or any chemistry related field.. cheers!!

I'm of the opinion that while you concentrate in building your career, you also take out time to build other areas of your life.

For a typical day at work, first thing i do is to take a sheet of paper and write out my plan for the day. So i divide my time at work into 2: 8-12noon and 1-4 pm. My 8-12noon comprises of doing my tasks: responding to mails, executing tasks, attending meetings, taking out time to update myself with news around the world(nairaland has been helpful), when i'm getting bored, do a little of instagram, take out time when its available to read some pages of a book. By 12 noon, i take out time to pray and take lunch. I repeat my 8-12noon in my 1-4pm.

Take out time to read not gisting and pleasure always, serve God through evangelism towards the weekend, invest in building great relationships in the weekend, enjoy your life also in the weekend. If you dont want to regret in future, your mondays to fridays must be for you through adequate investment of your time in building your life. Weekend is for serving God and ofcos pleasure.

Thanks.

I do a remote job, basically I currently work from my bedroom and also do my crypto trading thing. The last time I went to a physical office was during my NYSC days, 4 years ago.

back in the day, everyday at work was horrible, filled with tribalism and hatred.

It was really hard working in a place where 99% were from a particular tribe different from yours.

For the now, not doing what I want to however, I'm hoping what I want comes soon.

In the mean time, I do something else which involves working from home. I usually sit in front of my laptop, watching TV on the side or sometimes, find things to read.

As a self employed man, sometimes i sit and watch my capital go into the lagoon, i will start transferring my aggression to every fvcking person around me, when it turns out good, I'm always happy then i start putting smile on people's faces.

All i want is to be a millionaire and travel around the world with a sweet sexy bitch.

I am a teacher. I resigned during the lockdown to start a business, it failed. Now I have to wait till August (summer) to resume a new teaching job on the island.

I now appreciate my job now more than ever. Even if the pay is not as I would like, with private classes, I was able to live fine. Now no income, I can't wait to resume and this time I will cherish my job and plan well before resigning to start any business in the future.

Stevenbright:

Never resign to start a business again. Plan and start a business you can run along side ur teaching job probably by employing someone who does the day to day running while you come around after closing from work. Do it until the business is stable (starts bringing in good profit). At this point you can resign to run it along with ur current staff full time. Expand it by putting like 40% of ur savings into it and then focus on growing it.

Thanks for your advice.

Magnumproperty:

Pls how can u link me up with a teaching job on d island. I have a degree in accounting education. Schools for mainland no dey try at all
I don't do link ups. No one linked me up.
Just go to schools you like and submit your CV. Be sure not to give the gateman. Go inside and don't tell anyone of your intention until you get to the admin's office. Do this and you will be surprised at the number of schools on the island that need teachers so badly.

What kind of business? What made it fail?

A school wanted to move out of a building, I was told the house was sold, I knew the proprietor so I was given some chairs, boards and other stuffs to start something. I spoke with the lawyer and we both had an understanding, not knowing that there was an ongoing court case between two acclaimed owners. The lawyer I had an understanding with lost the house, the new lawyer rented the building to a new school. My things were seized because I was not recognized as a tenant. The school that left the stuffs for me backed off. Only the school can get the stuffs out as they were the recognized occupants and I just came in through them not the owner. Everything became too complicated, so I left all my things there. I counted all my losses and moved on.
It was my fault because the former lawyer told me to leave before the new lawyer comes to take full control of the building, but I couldn't secure a place to move my things on time. I actually got some places but they were too inferior compared with the current location. I was trying to raise more money for a more beffiting/standard place not knowing what was coming.
About 70 chairs, 6 boards, bags of books and other stuff were seized. I have learnt my lesson. Sometimes you have to lower humble your standard to survive.

Gsauce:

What was the failed business?
A tutorial (lesson) centre with school in mind.
