It's a stupid statement because it takes two to tango. If you tell a couple to go and marry then it's no problem. But telling one person to go and marry. You too listen to yourself. You're assuming they just pick partner on the counter.

It's more like an insult. First place it isn't you business if she's married or not, and what if she isn't interested in marriage?. Secondly, she was in a better mode and you felt it's your business to kill her mode by reminding her what you think would make you give her a pass. Thirdly, she has the right to feel like she's 16 even at 60 as long she sin't committing any crime or hurting anyone that's what people pray for. It might not be an insult. But it could be an insensitive statement especially if you don't know what the person is going through in terms of relationships. She can't ask herself out or propose to herself.
