Is anybody going to say it or should we pretend that it was not obvious? The Bucks seem to be a better playoff team without Giannis. There, I said it. |

Android17: They are more disciplined without Giannis. That being said, Trae was off, otherwise this game could have gone the other way. 1 Like |

Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 1:43pm On Jul 04, 2021 |
PAWG: Lowry has been dealing with injuries of his own lately too. Reggie is not consistent enough. But he could probably be my fifth option there. 1 Like |

It looks like Trae young was a more important player for ATL in this series than Giannis was for the Bucks. But assuming they could have done better without him against the Nets could be an exaggeration. The suitability of personnel could vary from one series to another. On the issue of allowing college players to benefit from likeness blablabla. An expectation of a good NBA contract is a powerful motivator, especially for teenagers, letting them have a lot of money early on could hurt that motivation. On the other hand, most of these players come from poor homes. They could certainly use some money to stay away from crime and negative atmospheres as much as possible. Perhaps regulating how much they get could be fine. |
Re: The NBA Begins by joshboo(m): 6:40pm On Jul 04, 2021 |
benji93: It's not about Trae being more important to the Hawks, The bucks are way much a better team even without giannis as compared to the Hawks, Team had the best record in the NBA last year but messed up post season. They got the right pieces to complement the star players and added more scoring on the bench with PJ, Bobby and Forbes. For starters even hawks fans know they pushed above their weight and far beyond expectations, Na 76ers stupid with Simmons being a fool. |
Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 7:03pm On Jul 04, 2021 |
benji93: Unfortunately for many teenagers this money will end up enriching clubs, drug dealers, car dealerships, scam businesses, predatory relatives etc. Because the money will come before they have the wisdom to self discipline. Im all for letting these guys get paid, but it will be mixed results. |

That's what I fear. The lads are already exposed. I do not want to see such a move ruin them that early. They may never come back from it. Infact it's for a similar reason i would rather most of these kids attend college before turning Pros. birdman: 1 Like |

Are you sure you understand yourself? Cos if the Bucks are a good team without Giannis, it simply means Trae young is more important to Atlanta than Giannis is to the bucks. joshboo: 1 Like |

Before making a post understand (the person involved that is, should) how to make inference from raw data otherwise, Steph Curry is the greatest baskteball player ever. He is 100 trillion times better MJ. Let us all start making crazy posts. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 9:25pm On Jul 04, 2021 |
nelsonebby: I used the word "seem" because it is not apparent. I made that pronouncement based on the data we have seen against the Hawks -not the Nets. Next, someone can be the best player on a team yet the team will function better without said player. The Bucks move the ball better with Giannis out. The zone defense fails against them with Giannis out. Jrue Holiday expresses himself better with Giannis out. Brook Lopez can feast under the rim and still space the floor better because he has a jumper that teams have to be wary of - without Giannis. Giannis is no doubt the best player on the team and when you have him, coaches have to build strategy to maximise his skillset as they believe it enhances the potential of winning, however, that is not always the case as it pertains to matchups. The warriors in a way struggled against the Rockets with KD but seemed to do better when he was out. KD was the best player in his time at the warriors but that is what the data showed. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 9:31pm On Jul 04, 2021 |
benji93: Giannis is also a better player than Trae but Trae can influence the way his team wins more dynamically than Giannis. Nobody said the Bucks would have beat the Nets without Giannis. However, the way the Bucks played the Nets was a slugfest. The games they won were unwatchable and we all saw how the ball could not move and the ancillary players like Jrue and Lopez were out of their groove. Compared to the last 2 games where all players including Bobby Portis have been playing at close to their full capacity. |
