For what?!

To fight bandits and insurgents?

Wrong choice of aircraft.
Educate me why it's a wrong choice for fighting insurgents. Since the F16 is a multi role fighter jet i thought it will make a good piece of hardware.
I might be wrong.

What do we need F16 for? Are we fighting China or Russia?
So the countries that have it are all fighting China?
F16 was introduced in 1978 for christ's sake and it's a multi role fighter. I mean with all the defense budget yearly there's definitely a better piece of hardware suitable for the war in the north east than this right here. What can this do that the F16 cannot perform, educate me.

I share your thought; very appauling. The jet is even a slow and very light propeller based one, not a turbo.

So?

The first batch of 6 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft have departed the United States of America on Wednesday, 14 July 2021 enroute Nigeria. The 6 aircraft will be leapfrogged through 5 countries including Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Algeria before arriving their final destination in Nigeria towards the end of July 2021. An official induction ceremony of the aircraft into the inventory of the Nigerian Air Force is already being planned at a later date in August 2021 to be announced in due course. The Office of the Director of Public Relations and Information remains open to any inquiry regarding the arrival and induction of the aircraft.

This same US refused to sell military wares to Nigerian army during Goodluck Jonathan's time. its a clear indication that the western nations are in full support of the Fulanis in their bid to take full charge of the country. The purpose of this transaction is to further empower the Fulani led military to crush any agitation for secession and completely silent other tribes.

Truth be told Buhari is trying (just like Jonathan before him and yaradua before him - this I have realised). But you see us Nigerians we are the enemies of ourselves (Nigeria).
How do you explain the fake drugs, fake school certificates, substandard work by contractors, bribe collecting civil servants at the expense of their jobs, sex for grade Lecturers, grade for sex/money students and the list of our vices is long and ever growing with the passage of time

We have chosen to blame our governors and the President. And the blame largely depend on the political party and region. If we belong in the same party and or region, then we follow them like zombies and it not, nothing they do satisfy us.

But then again, our leaders don fall hand well well. Whether you believe this or not, Nigeria should have been in the league of the World's Super Powers.

But can't Nigeria afford an F16 at least?

People questioning my choice of an F16, that aircraft was introduced in 1978 first before modern builds and it's a multi role fighter. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be in the air force fleet.
If your argument is about the cost of the aircraf remember these people took a billion dollar loan for purchase of military equipment.
the super Tucano is better suited to fight the wars we currently have going, after all the JF 17 is equivalent to the F 16 in function

You are very right ,Obama couldn't sell some arms and jets to us because of Leahy's law.

xcuggsm:
It's not every country that is deemed responsible and qualified to buy an F16 Figher jet.
.
The New York Times on May 18, 2016 opposed the U.S. sale of military aircraft to Nigeria in an editorial titled "Block the Sale of Warplanes to Nigeria"
.
The editorial cites a staffer to Senator Patrick Leahy as saying
“we don’t have confidence in the Nigerians’ ability to use them (the aircraft) in a manner that complies with the laws of war and doesn’t end up disproportionately harming civilians, nor in the capability of the U.S. government to monitor their use.”

A position the US government appear to still be sticking to.

It's too fast. That's why it's also called Fast Mover. Sure with a great targeting pod it can knock off SAM sites and radars and even convoys, but it's not ideal for counterinsurgency where you're basically taking out people on foot and in technicals. Most often it needs laser designation from the ground which isn't always ideal.

You need slow movers, such as the A10 warthog and the Super Tucanos, and helo gunships, to loiter for long CAS and fire cannons, hellfires, and other antipersonnel weaponry.

Apaches with TADS can shoot from miles away... silently and unseen...safe from AA guns.

But I prefer the use of 50mm cannons, cluster bombs, napalm, and white phosphorus to really neuter those Boko and bandit bastards. They should suffer before they die.
