humility33: Picking competent foreign based players is not mediocrity. Nigeria currently has competent Nigerians in Nigeria and outside Nigeria in a lot of professional fields. So you're saying we should let the ones in Nigeria become jobless and hire only Nigerians born outside Nigeria. Would your parents have been able to send you to school if only Nigerians with foreign degrees were getting all the jobs 1 Like |

codemaniacs: Your last paragraph does not follow because we still struggle to get jobs here in Nigeria wit thoss that schooled abroad jostling for same job slots like in NLNG, TOTAL, SHELL etc and the best get picked let it be so in sports let the best be picked irrespective of their country of birth or residence 1 Like 1 Share |

codemaniacs: So linking to sports....host communities should have reserved slots If you're even fair enough you should know that shell and others do give minor percentage to host communities and the talents ought to be competent prior consideration You need wipe your thinking and ensure it is devoid of sentiments reasoning like this made us loose alaba and many other world class players that would have played for us Right now we need the best everywhere while we develop our local leagues and tourney to meet standards 1 Like 1 Share |

humility33:Exactly bro. People keep pushing this quota thing because they don't want to do the hard work of fixing our football from bottom up. They'll tell you getting foreign born is the easy way out and act like reserving slots for home based players will improve how our clubs are ran, our coaches, poor facilities, etc. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by codemaniacs: 7:00pm On Jul 17, 2021 |
humility33: you have to be trained to be competent, most footballers and athletes attend at least a football academy or sports academy before they can be considered for a professional career.. so most professional athletes you see today have the competency ( necessary sports education both theory and practical ) but the talent may not be there. you can't compare players that play for Manchester United and players that play for bristol rovers fc. the A:laba situation is a different issue entirely, can also be attributed to toxic tribalism against the SW... its the one of the same reasons Nigeria didn't tie down Saka, Akanji , adebayor e.t.c.. |

humility33: you don't even understand what quota system means... the quota system you're talking about means employing the wrong people just to collect salary which is what we see in Nigeria's ( especially northern Nigeria ) public sector which leads to important departments been under-staffed and few govt employees responding to thousands of Nigerians which leads to queues upon queues at several govt agencies.. the quota system I'm talking about involves hiring competent university educated Nigerians ( Nigerians that can defend their degrees ) to do jobs and not hiring incompetent university educated Nigerians who score 34 / 400 in jamb and got admission and also ended up graduating with similar results but will be given govt jobs ahead of other competent people from the same ethnicity. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by codemaniacs: 7:35pm On Jul 17, 2021 |
humility33: lack of sentiments is why a govt official will take money meant to develop a local govt in his/her home state outside Nigeria or even outside his/her home state and put it somewhere else and when his people complains he/she blames the FG... tribal sentiments and religious sentiments must never be in the same sentence.. they are two different things entirely... so you're saying states like Bayelsa, Akwa-ibom e.t.c.. should employ only Yorubas and Igbos because they get the best scores yearly both in waec , jamb and university courses. when was the last time someone who wasn't Yoruba or Igbo got the overall best result in Jamb, waec, university courses... To you does it mean that people who are not Yoruba or Igbo are dull If we go by merit based on results in Nigeria, Yorubas and Igbos will clear out most of the opportunities in Nigeria... 1 Like |
