It's really sad, that you can quote a statement and still you don't understand it. There's absolutely no need replying you further than this.

Quote that they boycotted against South Africa apartheid government? grin

That’s a general knowledge.

It’s you that’s trying fruitlessly to separate Falcons from Nigeria.

I watched the video and I must say, I think the man was right.

Some might say he should not have taken it out on the ladies who just want to fly the flag and represent their country but the man made few salient points.

Football is now a global Force. If we paint that all is well in Nigeria, we do a great disservice to the hundreds dying everyday under the mayhem of the mismanagement of the current administration.

He is an old time footballer, he is letting us know that it is wrong for Nigerian youths to play for the country.

Flying the flag under an evil Government is the same thing as supporting them.

I never knew that but the man made his point clear. Protested in the way he knows how and maybe he might have started a change from another angle.
As long as I can understand the reason behind the Man's action. I still feel he's going about it the wrong way by targeting innocent girls.

It's not like the players themselves haven't used their social platforms to speak against the government especially during the End SARS period or the super eagles have not talked about boycotting games. We've seen players like Drogba use the National team as a platform to cool internal tensions in their country. Why not encourage that??

If we're to go by this your statement the super eagles team of 1994 and 1996 wouldn't have achieved what they achieved. You taking Football away from Nigerians is you taking them closer to depression particularly with the current state of the country

What we had in the mid nineties is no way comparable with what we are seeing here.

Let us not forget innocent youths, shot at Lekki with live rounds of ammunition.

We can compare what we have today with Abacha or Babangida.

I still insist the man didn't make any point he just wanted to gain cheap publicity which he has succeeded in doing for himself. As bad as things are we still have and operate a democratic process to get things moving in the right direction. If at the height of Abacha's reign when people were being killed and jailed, when media houses were being closed, when you couldn't publicly disagree with the government not to talk of abusing them brave men and women were still able to effect change then there's no reason you should feel hopeless now when we have so many means to change things for the better.

If the man truly cared about the situation back home he would protest at the Nigerian embassy, lobby his senator, his house of rep, his local government chairman join civil society groups to demand better governance not this cheap and hurtful bullying of young women who have committed no offense except play the game they love, rep their country and provide for their loved ones.

African Americans still have it tough in the US today but I don't see random Black Lives matters members walking up to Kevin Durant or any African American athlete for that matter to rant and rave about the state of the nation as they are the ones you elected to be president and governor.

You can't compare what Americans are facing to what is going on today in Nigeria. Remember Orlu massacre. Remember Oyigbo Massacre.

Remember how DSS stormed Igboho's house at the dead of the night, killed people and took their bodies.

It is just too grave to think all is well.

I repeat, this man sounded louder than any protest done recently.

I only wished he was less vulgar and insulting. However, it showed his stance against supporting the current Government in any form.

I still remember the eyes of one of the ladies hit by s stray bullet in Oyigbo. The fright in her eyes she was dying when friends were rushing her to the hospital. That stuff gave me chills. Her eyes were too wide with fright.

no one is defenseless.

it takes a group of people or even one person to stop the killings to help tackle it and at worst it takes a state government and not the federal govt willing to stop the killings to help tackle it.

you expect a federal government filled with j:ihadists and non-efik non-ibibio to become willing to stop killings that they believe is the will of the God they are worshiping.. You lack ethnic consciousness..

A person from Akwa-ibom state should only be concerned about Akwa-ibom and Akwa-ibom people and how the Akwa-ibom diaspora ( people from Akwa-Ibom living outside Akwa-Ibom ) are doing...

note: I am not saying you should be anti-nigeria.. you can be pro-akwa-ibom and still not be anti-nigeria...

Igboho is being hunted down for doing the same. That is my point. I agree people should devise means of protecting themselves. It is a must now the FG and to some extent State Governments are unwilling to protect lives.

Igboho was very loud and public about his own.. a person doesn't have to be loud and public it's a choice.

I for one is someone who believed that we should separate sports and politics. However, the action of that man with the Falcons gave me a new insight.

Throughout history, sports and government have intertwined.

A good example is the American government trying to get Mohammed Ali to support the war against Vietnam and Mohammed Ali said, THEM KONGS DID NOT CALL ME NI()A.

I think we should recognize that destruction from an evil Government will still rain on sports lovers too.

you don't understand Nigeria's situation and most of Africa's situation, from ends:ars and all the protests, killings, destructions that have happened the bri:tish have helped to sweep such protests, destructions, killings under the carpet..

no amount of protests will make the leadership structure in Nigeria change because of indirect rule which means all our presidents are "anointed" by the british and also protesting against the gov:t is protesting against democracy and they ( brit:ish and the U.N ) are against anyone that is against democracy.

the destruction will only rain on sports lovers if sports lovers also start protesting... Lagos was peaceful before ends:ars turned to anarchy and chaos because the govt sponsored thugs hijacked it and started causing chaos which opened the doors to more violence...

the same happened in South Africa, protests turned to looting and violence... In Africa, especially black African countries the protests will always turn violent and looting, killings will occur because that's the best way to discredit the protesters. who else will want to discredit protesters other than the sitting govt and the people who created the system of govt Nigeria is currently using..

the best thing to do like I said before, is to ensure your community, or state is peaceful and thriving and also attacking and arresting people that kill innocent people in your state or community.. the concern should be your state or community not the whole of Nigeria because you want improvement does not mean other people also want improvement, some people only bring destruction and unrest and that h:ausa man is only encouraging unrest and destruction and that's how you should see it but its not my place to tell you how to see things....

please let's stop this, this is a sports thread, it has been derailed enough..

This is my last comment on this issue, after which I'll stick back to football only.

Despite all the countless reasons given to you on how they're not supporting the government. You still continue to abandon any form of rationality and just resort to emotions. I don't want to sound unconcerned here, but how is our national team connected with those massacres. Or have you heard of any situation where a national team stopped playing because of killings in the country. Rather they use it as a platform for campaign for healing and peace to the country.

I guess you have forgotten how the Super Eagles stood in solidarity with us during the game against Algeria. Osimhen and Simy's goal celebration. Some even made donations. Even some players like Zogg talked about endSARS long before anyone even knew she existed.

Do you fvcking think its fair we turn around to make them the government's supporters. Simply because they play for the National team? Our should we go ahead and close the national team because of Buhari? You should as well close your business join na.

Point of correction. White Man didn’t forcefully stop the war.

Since you don’t know the motive behind the war, I will let you know.

The war was for the unification of all clans in other to form a unit and be able to resist colonialism that was foreseen long before Oyinbo came.

That was normal and it happened all over Europe and Asia and we can see they are enjoying the benefits of the unification.

Besides, there was unification before Kiriji war and we saw one of the greatest empires in Africa emerged from it.
They have said it many times on here that you are an ethnic bigot but you always find a way to deny it. It's glaring to everyone who you truly are. Go and create a thread on Kiriji war if you are sure that your argument is valid. I will be there to school you. This is a sport session for Nigerians. Please keep it as such.

Not really bro.

Maybe or maybe not. I'm defending no party but....

In La liga, the rule is that first-team players (A-Team) are given 25 slots and MUST wear numbers 1-25. Keepers are given special numbers 1,13 & 25.

It's hard to retire jersey number(s) in Spain because of the said rule. Sevilla tried to retire Puerta's but could not unless they are ready to play with -1.

And also, Alaba is a BIG player.
