Eka, you lost me there. I was actually born and raised in Benin-City. Unfortunately, I wasn't taught the language. I ended up not learning my dialect, or even learning how to speak Bini. Na pidgin English popular here.

My biggest regret till date is not knowing how to speak my dialect. I however try to identify with my tribesmen anywhere I find them.

I am a lawyer, and you sounded like one in your earliest post, hence I asked.

I moved to Akwa-Ibom, Ikot Ekpene precisely, spent six months but still couldn't. Anyway it was tough for me then as I was a young lawyer just called to the Nigerian bar. Hunger touch me ehn. No me my clear eye I take jakpa come back Benin.

Thanks for this expose, I didn't mean to denigrate the people from that place, I can boastfully say they are really nice people during my short stay there. I did my SSCE WAEC there, you know that their special center ? They are really good people, very accommodating to the visitors. Even before then, me and my dad used to drive to buy stuff from the food market at the other side of akoko-edo which is in the Ondo State. I was of the opinion that ebira people settle there since I saw a lot of them there mostly engaged in farming. I didn't even know that Ebiras are not Yoruba's since they are so close and also bear Yoruba's names, but I know them to have come from kogi state. My opinion of akoko-edo being a remote place is born out of the fact that you cannot get there in a public transport except you hire a bike due to the natue of their roads.

The inaccessibility of certain parts of Akoko-Edo is mostly due to the topography of the area generally. Most of the towns and villages are tucked within the rocky hills except for few of them like Igarra, Ibillo, Ikpeshi, Sasaro, Ugboshi-Afe, Uneme-Nekhua and Egbigere which are located on the underlying westward plains hence easily accessible by cars due to being located along the Ibillo-Auchi federal highway which is though quite dilapidated now and in need of attention.
