Yes I know that, when starting a phone with a Chinese ROM there is a prompt to select language which is either Chinese(mandarin) or English

It's English. I mean some apps and the browser is Chinese.
I selected English during the starting

Then the solution is still the first thing I said. Unlock your bootloader and install the Official Global ROM via fastboot

You should know you are approaching the end of support for your device so don't expect frequent updates. Your next update should be MIUI 12.5 based on Android 10

No SD card baba, been flash fastboot via MI flash tools, den i wanted to flash twrp via adb, but it's saying disc image file is corrupted

Pls @GrandMufti when flashing recovery what are necessary requirements apart from unlock bootloader, recovery impg and vbmeta img
