Omo, stop talking about certificates and double your hustle ooooo cheesy

Getting/having a University degree ought to be a hustle on its own but in a dead country like Nigeria, where a thug without even a primary school certificate can become president what do you expect?

it's still in you that genius ability to do something unique

Scholarships man! Scholarships!!!

Apply for scholarships abroad and leave that dead country. Apply for scholarships till you hand falls off, then continue using your other hand to apply. One day, one of them would reply with a positive answer.

We are littered all over the state of the federation. I also came out top of my class. But i don't decieve myself i have no one to run to concerning job. Getting a job on merit isn't feasible anymore in this clime. Particularly, government jobs.

I recently got a transcription job. I'm likely to lose the job due to my inability to get a system.

I'll be rounding off my service soon. Yet no job in sight. Got some cool business ideas, don't have access to loan

Got no connection, nothing nothing

I'm losing my mind seriously

Like I said to the OP, apply for scholarships. There are fully funded scholarships all over the internet, look for them, search deep in the internet for them. Schools abroad are looking for bright minds like you to sponsor your education, accommodation, feeding and even flight and visa. Get one and leave that sinking country.

I graduated with a first class in accounting and finance and finished my nysc 3 years ago, since then i have attended interviews but to no avail, but immeidately i finished nysc i started trading forex while looking for jobs, i also involved myself in my friend's entertainment start up 2 years ago as a web administrator on his website, travelled with him regularly for shoots even without pay, i also learnt digital marketing certified from google to improve my SEO skills, i took alot of courses on how to code and build websites which i do today, i equally write books though i do this passively, am still hopeful i can have a tech start up soon which is far from what i dreamt of when i was studying accounting and finance in school, but where i project the world is going to or still get a job and open it later in the future as clients on web development do not come very often. i just love learning, i applied for a few scholarships over the years but still no reply, God will do it for me.

I cannot but admire your bravery and determination. Continue down that scholarship path. Now you have some digital and IT skills, stamp those on your CV when applying for scholarships abroad. There are fully funded scholarships abroad, search deep for them. In fact sleep on Universities’ websites, you would definitely find them, one of them would reply one day. Continue searching, don’t give up.

Sorry to say, but Nigerians are too obsessed with this first class of a thing. You go to university in Nigeria, chew, and regurgitate everything you learned back to them. Graduate with a first class on paper but have no practical knowledge of anything. At the end of the day, you're jobless. You shouldn't be jobless with a first class or 2:1. You need to start looking beyond that paper otherwise you'd be stuck forever.

Because we built and live in a society where university degrees are worthless. Have a first class degree abroad, either a job or a fully funded Ph.D scholarship is already waiting for you after your graduation ceremony.

Seek for post graduate scholarship abroad.

Meanwhile, I don't think a first class or almost first class graduate should find it difficult getting a job as they can easily pass aptitude tests and impress interviewers.

Its like you don’t live in Nigeria where merits go out the window and it is who you know that gets you into places.

Because we created a useless society and country where education belongs to the gutters, where science and tech are for the dustbin while frivolities are what we enjoy. One where job buying and who you know are the way to go while merit is discarded.

Get a first class degree abroad and either a job or a Ph.D scholarship awaits you. In fact it is your bachelor thesis supervisor that would ask if you would like him to put in a word at the top for you to start a Ph.D program under his/her supervision because they already see and know your worth.

But in a dead country like Nigeria...

Well, a certificate-less, lifeless mannequin is president so what else can I say...?

If you are a true first class student and you know your onions, trust me getting job should not be hard. I made first class and i have gotten more than 6 offers in the past 3 years, infact i just got one with almost 500k net but contemplating on accepting because i am enjoying my current place and i have not spent upto 6 months.
If you actually worked for it and you are smart getting job to manage should not be hard. I am not there yet but i know with time i will.
Don't lose hope and keep trying every opportunities (business).

Did you graduate from FUTO?

High risks, high rewards. Do some hype for a celeb, politician. Put energy and money into it and it'll bring big bar. Just think cos na the only people wey get money for ds country
Lol, how does that seems feasible in this present Nigeria?

Hypeman for celeb and politicians. Politicians are not easily accessible now. Not until when election is at hand. Someone even suggested I meet with my governor. Governor who doesn't have our time. The closest politicians to us are councillors and LG chairmen. Yet some of us don't know them either. We only know them by name. We've never met with them in person. They're not always on sit if you check up on them.

With the current sequence of paying for grades to graduate with higher level, nobody trust certificate this days. If you actually studied to come out tops, then people should be dependent on your skills. Here in naija everyone is waiting for government with their enslavement job to survive which is wrong. Nobody has ever been rich earning just salaries.Think out of the box, create something, grow it to fruition. It might begin small but give it time. Can recall 18years ago when I returned from service with a total saving of 45k from monthly allowee of 5.5k (3.8+1.7,both state and federal) , I rented one room apartment and started hawking wrappers, laces and female bags from one office to another. Some said they are buying from me because of "decency ",the way I talk, play, good english command and my comportment especially when I tell them am a graduate without job. From that itinerary, I built my first house with the support of 5K monthly salary I got from an evening school where I tutored. Our today's graduate wants to start with Shell, Chevron, Oil and gas. Forget that certificate for now, it might be an enemy to the real deal. While sourcing for jobs, learn a trade and hit the dusty street. Street life pays ,forget about the class of degree, humble yourself to be tutored in a particular skill, then learn how to market it. I have personally achieved far more than Chijioke who use to give me Clothing materials to sell and make returns. I employ people and pay them and atimes assist Chijioke who taught me the skills. Think wider.

That's the problem with jobless people like you.
You obviously have issues with your character and cant engage intellectually without throwing insult at people.
One of the reasons most you will likely not make it.

Luck does not exist, the secrets of success is hard work.

Try and work on your spellings also, you will never get a job if you dont.

Sorry if i did not care too much about that, and i likely did not review before posting it here. I just wanted to pass on my message when i saw the topic, This is however an unofficial discussion so all those may not count. I know for sure no matter what you do in life people will always find faults, you just happen to be one of them. Even if I reviewed and posted a highly advance use of synonyms, punctuations and vocabulary like i do in my books AND publications they may still find faults on me trying to be perfect or still find something wrong with my name. We are all not perfect ,do not have any expectations from me. I will rather be a problem solver in the society than trying to be perfect in all my ways, especially when they do not matter. Am a free spirited dude, i do not let my class of degree define who I am, neither do i try to play Mr perfect Gooday.

Graduating with first class is only an added advantage of getting employed.

Entertainment anywhere is money.
Forget this BBNAIJA and education in the gutter thing.
Even in the US, UK, an other educationally advanced countries, entertainment is making people fortunes.
Don't forget, BBnaija is a private business and people can choose to invest in whatever bring them profits.

No one is this life is without error or mistake my friend, people judge what they know nothing about. We can not and will never be defined by a single action especially when they do not matter. people like you who love theories and pick faults are the major problem in the society. but let me say this, theories are useless if they can not be applicable in life or practically. say to yourself today i will stop seeing faults in people and start seeing the best in them, even if i truly do not know them. and you will find yourself in a new world, Stop making your world a pond.

And to think that I even considered you intelligent.

You read his comment and this is what you have to spew.

You are in search of lever that will catapult you to the next level, you come here stating your circumstances, an observation (already made by other posters)is made about something as serious as written expression and all you do is go ballistic.

You don't know the guy , you don't know his role in your life, and you don't even know who else is reading.

And see your very arrogant response to his submission.

It may interest you to know that several people have gotten jobs right here on Nairaland just because of how they expressed themselves in their posts.

Nairaland is not so anonymous afterall. You leave a very tangible trail as you make your posts.

You may wish to apologise to that poster and assume a humble stance going forward.

No, People like you in positions of authorities who has refused to do the right thing are the calamity befalling the country.
Never said we are perfect, was only saying that for someone of a pedigree, there's a minimum standard expected from them, f they fail to meet up with that expectation, they have failed.

Imagine a pilot of flight engineers make blunders everyday, and we have plane crashes and they come out to give baseless excuses of how they are not perfect?

Sorry if you are not happy with my statement but truth must be told.
